Day 1 of flower

DSCI0792

First day at 11/13
The 11 hour light is for the nigerian sativa to flower more easy and also to possible minimize stretch.
It comes from near equator.

The indicas could look better. It took me 3 hours on one of them to get wet soil and it's still not all wet.
I had to put the runoff back in the pot again maybe 20 times.
So at least two of the indicas must have been bottom dry.

Two of the durbans still very hard to get right. The leafs goes up and down without a pattern.

Will be interesting to see how long the Nigerian flowers for. 10-13 weeks as a quote is quite acceptable for a landrace.

Only African I've had the pleasure of running out was spice trader from Heart and Soil (Malawi X Mozambique) and a cross of the above with Nevs Haze X Mullambimby Madness and they were both amazing.

I once had two for almost a year. Around 3 months veg. The equatorial can be a bit random that way i think.

Day 2 - 11/13

DSCI0793

Yeah it seems like i made bad watering practice. The pots also feels more normal now. Not bottom light most of them.
It's like the small indica bottom left corner doubled size since yesterday.
And it seems like the sativas like that it was 48% Rh this morning.

I bend one of the durban over 5th node. I heard something about that should be good.

I like how Skunk No1(bottom) has become. If it ends up good it could be my new favorit training method.
Almost no work and i already named it the crucifix.
Also crazy it havn't got water for 9 days and still moist on top soil. The plant seems to like it and me too. It means it's gonna be easy to water.

It's a girl! Yay!
BTW, I did that 'not watering enough' thing too. And as soon as I started watering to run-off they exploded. Of course they also had to recover from too much fertilizer cause I hadn't watered enough. Too many variables, and they all affect each other. : /

It's a girl! Yay!
Yeah and it couldn't be better. You don't know how glad it made me.
It's the indica. The one i most want in a bigger pot as soon as possible. Perfect.
So now i'm just waiting for a Durban girl and a nigerian girl but they will take longer to show sex.
This one showed sex because of age i think. Can't be from one 13 hours night, right?

And yeah it takes some time for me to get used to the new soil.
They exchanged the peat with something else. Not sure what that is but it's harder to get wet when dry. It could look like the hay from wheat.
Thats the big thing here now. Soil without peat for the environment i think ore something like that?
Yeah plus now i mix more clay pellets in it too and that also change how to water.

I run into this if i let my medium get to dry. Like if i water today, the pots would take more water overall and wont take nearly as long to achieve. If i wait until tomorrow to water id be out there like you are saying to water in slowly to allow the uptake. (Im going to try and water today lol)

And the main reason I refuse to grow sativa landrace strains. 13 wks is a quicky🤣

LOVE the Afghani strains🥰

You know.
This indica is the first i have smoked for 3 months i a row without getting tired of it.
And it helped me with some very old conditions.
Best part it's the ugly and smallest one that is a girl. It turned out the best last time. A bit more hungry than the other pheno.

Day 3 - 11/13

DSCI0803

The Afghan Indica got transplanted. Water just till small runoff.
I'm pretty sure the two others are males.
No flowers but to me they looks like males.
I'll keep one male for seeds.

DSCI0802

The roots looks ok'ish. I can see the ends is dried on some roots.
Yep, wrong water practice. Watering too fast. Made the soil wet but not the chopped straws or peat thats in the soil.
Then after watering the straws draw the water out of the soil, making it dry faster. Thats maybe because straw contains more cellulose, making it even more hydrophobic when dry.
And straw seems worse doing that than the peat based soil i used before. At least thats how i understand it.
Gonna be more easy watering, now i got lid on the pot.

Last thing.
I'm strongly considering stop using clay peppeles in the bottom of the smaller pots.
I feel i see some problems with the roots when i transplant.
This one had some strange mold on some clay peppeles and one of the roots in first transplant. Not this transplant though.
I do remember the clay peppeles being more full of debris than usual so that could be why.
I'm gonna make some side by side test on that next grow.

On the ball mate. Your Gunna be outgrowing your space soon enough. You got a tent or flowering in an open space? You gave me the motivation to grab a few80s Durban and Afghan lemon from khalifa as well so thank you for the reminder..
Thanks for that post.
Made me rethink the flip and it looks like the right time size vice 👍

On the ball..

Mate, I just water every day from the get go just to avoid that exact issue. It's crazy. Never had a single overwatering issue. Hydrophobia and underwatering has done me much more damage than overwatering every time on my end when I started growing.

Peat and compost mediums hold around 25% air even when saturated, and that number increases when aggregate is added as well so you gotta do some fucked up shit to get a lack of oxygen in that environment.

Tbh, pretty much 90% of the issues I see here labelled as "overwatering" aren't overwatering at all. They are just insane pH and EC swings from drybacks every time. It's not about watering more most of the time, it's about watering properly and sleeping a stable acidity, salinity and moisture level. Most people miss that. The plants dont want rapidly plummeting pH and rising EC. They really prefer a stable environment.

If I've ever gotta add more than 10% of my pot volume every day, I gotta start watering twice a day plain and simple.

Day 4 - 11/13

DSCI0810

Skunk No1(bottom left) got water first time in 12 days since transplant.
I could have given yesterday. It got a bit too dry.
The sativas getting a bit lighter on tops.

DSCI0804

Picture from yesterday. Maybe last picture of the sativas without some bend.
Durban poison on the left and nigerian on the right.
If i didn't know i would've guessed opposite.

Day 5 - 11/13

DSCI0812

They are growing.
They are big enough to make their own micro climate. 55% Rh now.

DSCI0813

Skunk No1 started flowering. It was a fem seed.
I wouldn't have mind it waited a week more just to get some size..

Checked all others for preflowers but nothing yet.

Day 6 - 11/13

DSCI0814

They are growing.
My nigerian sativa doesn't look like last time at all, but maybe it will come.(the lighter green ones in the middle)
I need the indica to get growing. it has some small branches and i try to tuck to get them growing.(right bottom)
But two weeks more of this growing gonna be hard but i just have to stuff them together.
They can manage that.

Day 7 - 11/13

DSCI0819

I'm watering. They are growing.

But it's a sick update today.
I got TWO more female indica,
DSCI0818

That makes it 5 out of 5 seed female from my indica seeds so far.
3/3 this grow.
I mean i'm not complaining but i havn't got room for them.
I'm gonna transplant the one with good training and yeah i don't know yet about the other.

Nice. Spoiled for choice. Looking good brother. Hold on tight haha. It's Gunna go ham soon.

Quick update

DSCI0821

I just want to make sure before i remove it.
It is a male right?
