How Does THC Degradation Happen?

Cannabis products will eventually lose potency, and factors such as light, temperature, and air contribute to its rate of degradation.

Man, you can't cure at all, and you're questioning me? Do you have to be a dick to try and prove a point you have ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIENCE with?
Ok, i don't like opening jars unless I'm going to smoke, so I may type worse than I have been.
"They say" bad weed turns crumble, and brown. One of these are 5 years, the other 9. Ill get a loop if you want, but as you can see, trichs still 8ntact, colors still there, hard as rocks, and buds this size would have crumbled.
Like I said SHOW ME 1 REAL STUDY.

If so I'd love to see what you got!

People have cured buds for decades without using a hygrometer. It is useful for some people, but I don't believe that should be the primary focus of attention to get a special number of RH. This is because other factors will affect RH and how much it should be based on your specific conditions and factors. For example, if someone has a jar half full, it will usually have lower RH compared to someone with completely full jars. So what works for one situation might not work the same for you.

The buds look great, and I don't think the cure stops just because the RH is below 60%. Drying the buds slowly is the most important part IMO. When they rehydrate in the jars, the RH could drop below 60% and believe that is fine. They will continue to cure for weeks after this until they get to the point where they smell and smoke to your satisfaction.

If you want to keep as much RH as possible, don't burp more than once a day. The longer they cure, the less you will need to burp the jars. I think they will turn out great, and good luck.

LEX,
You made a reasonable, intelligent argument! Thank you, along with the others who contributed intelligently.
As you can see, these buds look just as good now, as they did after a 6 month cure.
I can not find a single scientific study on this topic, only my own studies with a few of my strains.
If anyone is interested, i can take a pic through a scope, and you will see the trichs are intact, still cloudy with some amber, the buds maintained their colors, and I have NOT grown in around 4 years.
For those who know when trichs turn amber, and beyond, they have degraded. The ages buds are as good as ever, but even smoother..
I am open to looking at real scientific studies, as I'm always willing to learn.
I'm betting 79 is a "Hardy boy", "Q", or some or just maybe slow (in which case, sucks)

Lol did you even read it.

UNODC - Bulletin on Narcotics - 1997 Issue 1 - 008

The concentration of D9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabinol (CBN) in cannabis plant material (marijuana) of different varieties stored at room temperature (20-22o Celsius (C)) over a four-year period was determined. The percentage loss of THC was proportional to the storage time.

I'm sure you and your magic strain can easily prove the rest of the world is wrong. You and your magic last forever weed will soon make you a billionaire

Says the man who has nothing to show. That's my study. I stand by my results.
Does that look like it's "brick weed". You have nothing punk. But if you did, I'd take a look. You can always learn something from everyone. In your case, I learned how NOT to act. To keep an open mind. That's probably why I haven't seen anything you've grown. Until I do, you're a number between 4, and 6

All over man. Can't you find them? Good I,m done with you. As long as you quit posting misinformation, I will not reply to your posts. Telling people your weed never degrades was just too crazy for me to ignore. Gl and happy grows.

Hey all,

Took my first crop down a week ago and been drying 60/60 since. None of the branches were really snapping but the buds were very dry so I bucked and trimmed then jarred them up. After 16 hours the jars are only reading between 53-57% on the meters.

The buds feel normal to me, albeit a little fluffy on the outside. Is this alright? Should I burp less or still go for 3 times a day? I've only burped once since jarring.

Thanks for any help.

Hey man. I apologize for turning your thread into what should have been a debate, into someone being a bitch, and myself, who was trying to make a point science has not made. I noticed this several years ago, and decided to preserve a couple buds of meds for as long as I could.
Anyway, I'm sure you know how that argument the world is flat turned out.
If you want to just do a proper cure HMU, and I'll help guide you through.
The most important part of all the time, $, and effort is the final product for most people. I actually enjoy every part of the process, EXCEPT trimming!
Best advice..don't over think.

Every study ever done proves weed degrades. You are the only person on earth who says otherwise. That and all the other stupid things you post lead me to believe you've never grown anything. Go smoke your imaginary buds and quit posting misinformation.

Every molecule has a rate at which it breaks down, that's just scientific fact. Sure you can slow the process under perfect conditions... but it's still going to break down at a certain rate regardless. I don't disbelieve he had good weed that was years old, but did he have tested both pre and post storage? If not, that proves nothing, it could have been ridiculously high to begin with. I think ya'll should agree to disagree lol.

That's fine except this guy claims his weed will last indefinitely. That BS. This board is about learning. Not about spreading lies and misinformation.

What are people using to get the moisture content of their flower? I've read people use hardwood moisture readers, if someone could link me a good one for flower Itd be much appreciated.

Oven and a scale capable of reading 0.01g. You could use a cheaper scale and waste more bud.
