I really appreciate your compliments brother it just feels good to be able to pass on knowledge....and watch people grow....almost exactly the same feeling as watching your plants develop and become fully mature and ripen with age you have come a long way...

you have come a long way @EventHorizan
and everything you are doing is on point
No problem bro! I appreciate saying I learned under you!
Lmao, I know this is silly, but in my mind, your cali born and breed,
and so are your skillz,
And so in my mind, Im cali taught!
Lmao, Im Cali bitches!!!
We know where the growing capital of the world is!
And honestly its been a pleasure to learn from you!
And you have made it pretty easy to be honest..

As for your cmh question. I dont have one so I cant comment. Here is what you need to understand. If your trying to pull weight right now!, to say get out the red, then a cheap 1k hps will get you there! But if you say got funds, and you want the longer investment, then cmh is prob a good choice...
Here is the real deal holyfield! Lights produce heat. Heat is your enemy. So the less heat the better, because nothing , and I mean nothing, eats electricity, like AC...
Here is my rec... Put that 1k hps in the middle, and surround it with 200 watt (4)cob on each end... U said 4x8 right?
It's actually 10x10 of Grow space. I'm using half right now with the 1000 and Have a sheet of panda hanging down the middle to reflect the open side. I'm running 7 right now but I want to spread them out and once I find a mom or 2 I plan on having 12 going most of the time. I have space to veg 6 for 6 weeks or so then throw them in the big room for flower. If flower is around 10-11 weeks I harvest 6 every 6 weeks or so (working up to that. No hurry) but I want to start utilizing the space and 1 1000w won't do it.

I hear you about the heat and I would like my ac to have to do as little as possible. I never thought about using cobs. Gonna have to do some research. With space to walk around the walls I'm thinking I need to light a solid 7.5x7.5 ft giving me 1.5' space to walk around he outside of the footprint

So your whole grow room is 10x10? Well you should make 5x8 flower with that 1k, and 400 watts of cobs. And the other you can make a veg/mother/clone and res area... But even more you need to set up your watering... You may want to wait till friday to see my setup im building.. You can go ahead and order your pump/lines/drip stakes/ plumbing for that..
But what are you gonna set the pots in?

So I have a separate are wher I can veg once I'm ready to have them flowering and vegging at same time (lights etc) the flower room can be 10x10 but I would like some breathing/work space. Definitely the watering is first thing and I should have all the hardware in about a week then the next weekend I'll build so I will be able to see you're setup. Lol. If I could get the full potential of around 12 plants vegged about 6 weeks each in a 4x8 that would be ideal as it gives me more room for activities. Lol.

Hey since ive never set up drip irrigation, couple quick questions :)
My manifold has adjusters for each output right?
Well is there an easy way to calibrate everything?
Im got this vision of them all being different?
How did you decide on 1 minute 3x a day?
Did you start with that schedule?

Just like old times eh Wisher,
me asking a million questions:)

in a 10x10 space I would brake it down to 8x8.......2 4x4 stations the lights can be one of these
1 1k per 4x4
16 cobs per 4x4
or 3 600's per 4x8
cobs would be the most effecient
but for hid
3 600's would be much more efficient than 2 1k's
as the 600's put out more light waves per heat if that makes sense
Just my thoughts

I built the room. It is 10x12 tin stud framed on its own concrete slab fully insulated full roofing. Only thing I need to do is sheet rock and eventually run its own electrical panel. I have 2' deep shelves built along back wall which gives me the 10x10 open Grow space. I just haven't utilized the whole space because as much as I hate it, you gotta crawl before you walk. Lol. Im a construction worker it's hard for me to be patient but when I get my perpetual growing I want a good hold on my routine and strains. Don't want to be learning with 18-24 plants going

All questions I either have, forgot to ask, or haven't encountered yet, lol so keep it up

so what I do first and I know this sounds wastefull but the plant closest to the manifold gets the same length tube as the furthest away....balancing the output so that the solution has to travel the same length to get to each plant
next I start with 1 watering a day
at lights on
I run that for about a week until they start to dry out quickly
then I bump to lights on and 4 hours later
when that is t enough I bump it to another 4 hours
so my light schedule is
military time
20:00
00:00
04:00

and this all depends to me on size of the pot and the amout of respiration your plants are doing

Got you! The same length tubing is the secret! I understand!
Maybe wasteful, but it has to be to supply equal amounts!

and to answer the question of how to calibrate is before I put the plants in
I first hand water from almost dry to see how much fluid volume needs to be used to get about 10% runoff
then
I run the pump with all lines opn and start with line 1
time how long it takes to fill a measure cup to how much is needed for the plant
now go through each one and adjust as needed until all are outputting the exact same amount
this can be done instead of running so much tubing
it just takes longer and I am super lazy

8ft on the sides tapered to 10ft in the middle
You could put a de in the middle, along with your 1k, and you gonna have more bud than you can shake a stick at, AS LONG AS YOU CAN COOL THE ROOM! I could pull $10k every 2 months with that.
Im gonna rain on your parade a little bit tho...
You are kind of making the same mistake as I did.
Your thinking more lights, more area, more bud,
when really its about refining 4x4 sections at a time.
When you can pull 2 per 4x4, then expand.
Its cheaper up front, and electric, and you can
use what you have now..
You want some real help, tell me what your rooms ventilation/exhaust/environment controls are and i show you how to make your equipment give you what you want that other light to do...

Im super lazy too, I bought a 100 foot :)

@EventHorizan
remember those videos we watched of that Dutch dude with the super funny music and ultra badass grows
how he made a clone area/mother/veg
and they had teirs with diverter to seperate the watering
it is in the works brother
gonna build a cabinent on casters with a nutrient and catch tank below
ordered my 2x4 trays today

how far you push that drip stake down? to that first notch about half way..
Lol I guess it aint that serious ... haha

I do remember. It was sweet. The build itself, was stellar!
I cant wait to see it!

I agree with this statement 100%
I would condense your area for growing to a 4x4 area and hone your skills
push yourself in that section to maximize your output
then build out from there to 2 4x4 areas
or just the 4x4 for flower and section it out to 2 4x4 areas
1 for veg
1 for flower
in the veg area you can keep a mom or 2 as well as a little spot for cloning
much more effecient
