yeh but he was talking about covering a tarp with leafs.. i was just pointing out we have none in the senora desert. no matter what side of the state line you are on heh.
ya in direct light you would have to cover it with a tarp,,that tumble weed would be great to keep air moving threw the pile,,cactus takes longer to break down cause it is all water,,i put some in my pile when i first made it,,it only about half composted now,,i turn mine every sunday,,i got out today for a hour, all i could handle,,pulled all my beans, tomatoe 2 beds of squash that wasnt up to parr, all my peper and bell peper plants, all to the compost pile so the green i put in im gonna have to match that with brown,in 2 weeks gonna add 30 lbs of char and about 15 more pounds of ewc,,then i think i will leave it alone and start another pile,,that way i can get some in the boxs, and come spring the next batch be ready and transplants will go in with that,,im breaking down the whole garden and adding pure nitrogen ,alfalfa ,feather, fishbone meals and for the wondering under earth bugs,,got oyster shell flour, crab meal and neem,,add about 3 bricks of peat,,that will double my soil volume,,so i got a lot to do before spring,,plus got to get mama a garden in containers behind the house here,,all i need is at minumum 90 degrees to work with, lmao
