Quick question...what is that green material that you're using to cover the plants? Are you able to see out of it and is it hard to see in it? The reason I'm asking is because I want to grow on my balcony but I'd like to be able to put something up that will not block the sun, but will not allow people to see what I'm growing. Any suggestions or links to something I can buy on Amazon?View attachment 735050 View attachment 735051 View attachment 735052 View attachment 735053 View attachment 735057 View attachment 735058 View attachment 735059 View attachment 735060 View attachment 735061 View attachment 735062 View attachment 735063 View attachment 735064 View attachment 735066 View attachment 735067 View attachment 735068 View attachment 735069 View attachment 735070 View attachment 735071 I am currently growing six outdoor plants in 200 gallon smart pots, 3 Orange Creamsicle (Sativa leaning), 3 Royal Nepal Kush. All of them are 87 days old. The Creamsicle are 22 days into bloom, the Kush are 11 days. These pics are 3 days old, I'll get some fresh ones today.

Wow....so much good info...I actually am on a second story....I'll definitely look into this some more thanks again. It's 20% shade cloth and it's basically a cloth greenhouse. Most people dont know this but cannabis is a semi-shade plant. That's why it grows so well inside under LEDs.
You can only see through it straight on, or with a light source behind it. So if your balcony is at ground level, then no, it will not hide your plants well. But if you're up one story or more it will provide you a lot of privacy. Yes, you can see out of it during the day but people can see in at night with light from your window and you will not be able to see out. The only way I can think of to completely block the view of your plants is by using the translucent plastic used on greenhouses, but you will not be able to see out. You can hang a dark material inside the shadecloth that you roll up during the day and roll down at night to block, or at least muffle the light from your window. If you do that you will need to make sure you stay on top of opening it before dawn or you could send them into early flower and then your looking at reveg problems. The shade cloth will also likely give you an earlier flower by a week or two.
I bought my 20% cloth from a local hardware store/nursery at about $100 for 5'x30' but I see 30%(which should be fine) all over Amazon for much lower prices and larger sises. I'd give you a link but I'm not sure what sise you need. If you have any problems finding the right sise or % just give me the measurements and I'll help you source it. I'm an excellent bargain hunter, hehe.
You will find that shade cloth is also very attractive to mantids. They were everywhere on my plants before I had to pull it down because my girls got too big this year. Also, you'll lose them if you need to use pesticides, and don't be surprised if you do need them. Outdoor cannabis attracts a lot of pests, especially if you live in a dry location with few tender green plants around you. I can help you there too if it becomes a problem.

Awesome, yeah, I've looked into that also. I actually have an indoor tent going on for the first time as well, but thought I'd take advantage of my balcony and use the free sunlight and air. Last January I planted some seeds out there just to see what would happen, and besides me messing up the drying and curing process and some PM I had to deal with, it turned out ok. So now I'm taking it more serious because I see so much potential....plus I'm just a pothead who loves to blaze....one more thing. If you're balcony faces East it is very possible that your girls will grow quite large. You need to be prepared to train them, or even better, train them from the start using LST or super-cropping. Again, if you are a new grower, I can help you with that or direct you to more information on it.
If you are new to growing I recommend buying one of the guides by Jorge Cervantes or Ed Rosenthal.
Welcome to the forum and happy growing.

Bummer on the mites, I just used the sprayer on my last few plants to avoid the bath, made it easier.
That idduno sure is taking its time, kinda like my 9#s. How many hours of direct sun are you getting now, I’m down to about 4.
