Are all your outdoor plants in those above ground pots? Can you plant directly into native soil there? What is the advantage to the pots compared to amending native soil?

Just curious...still learning.

Yes they all are in smartpots. No, to the best of my knowledge it is not legal to plant in the ground (I think that is true over most of Cali). You can thank the Mexican guerrilla growers for that. Their pot farms on BLM land contaminated too much drinking water and put pot on the EPA's radar. Since it's legal now you can check with your city/county clerk to find local regs (but I still wouldn't let them know who you are or where you live).

The main advantage of smartpots is drainage, but it also keeps burrowing rodents from eating their roots. I think not being allowed to put plants in the ground actually did the growing community a great service.

I've been having kind of a bad week and was really bummin out today. Then I found a seed while moving some Banana Ice Cream #1 to a different jar. I don't know about you guys, but as a person who aspires to become a breeder, finding an unexpected bean from a great pheno I thought I lost out on was a huge deal.

...and it's a big, healthy sucker too.

Banana Ice Cream (Holy Smoke Seeds), bought them from Logic last Spring. I'm hoping like crazy I find a few in the Banana Crack that I got from him as a freebie. That sh*t is bomb. Highest yield plant I've grown so far. Ended up with over 5lbs of finely trimmed, fully cured bud. The high and flavor are superb.

I am soooo friggin stoked right now! After hand trimming the first lb of Banana Crack, I gotta bean. Sh*t yeah!!! Like the BIC, she's big and healthy.

I am so exhausted from non-stop trimming for days but this makes it all worth it. That was the best plant I've grown so far, and by far, the biggest. She's got super tight nuggs on whip-like colas that are heavily frosted, and smells like a cross between amaretto and bearclaws (bearclaw donuts, not the nasty stinky hairy pricks that destroy my garbage cans).

I want a reserve of these bad girls for years to come. I've read that a male's branches can be turned fem using ethylene. I need to find out how before I start this one just in case. I'm wondering if ethylene glycol will work because I already have some for making vape cartridges. I do want to X it with my Chocolate Orange Creamsicle but I want a stash of pure strain Banana Crack first.

Having some issues. The Chocolate Nepal is clawing and getting burned edges. Banana Ice Cream #5 is dropping heavily. I made sure they weren't getting too overheated, backed off on the nutes by 2/3, gave them a light flush with straight water, increased the distance of the lights and tried a lower setting, done a pest check with a 60x loupe, dried them out, nothing there... So I ran a full Sledgehammer flush through them today. BIC#5's droop will be accentuated from being a little water logged till she dries up a bit. Watering has been tricky in the tent, especially now in flower. I could try some of that Hi-Brix to raise the pH if this doesn't work. I'm switching over to Kool Blooms from Hawaiian B&B for the lower nitrogen level too.

I hate these warnings. When I see them I'm reminded that any one of a million people could drop a cigarette along I80 or 49, or a spark could fly from a hundred thousand chimneys. Most people are conscientious but what percentage of the people are complete idiots. I've worked with the public long enough to know that there's at least one moron in every few hundred people.

As a cigarette smoker with OCD I know all the precautions I take so I don't lose a lit ash, and what "I" consider "common sense" isn't common at all. As a former rural bartender I also know that a huge number of drunk country people (temporary morons) are driving home while smoking.

How are we not all burnt to a crisp? It's gotta be divine intervention, ROFL.

I love it when the cabinets start looking like this. About a quarter of the way through hand trimming. I'm only hand trimming the 50% of the harvest that I kept. I can't imagine how long the full 15lbs would take.

The girls in the tent are looking like they're on the mend. Sledge Hammer works. When they dry out a bit I'll feed them with some Kool Bloom and Hi-Brix.

I think my girls in the tent on the deck might be screwed. The temp drop into the low 40'sF was only supposed to last a couple days. Not only is it lasting longer, but it's also dropping into the upper 30'sF. This whole nutrient issue started when the weather shifted. I'll try a seeding heating mat and a blanket wrapped around the pots. I don't think I can get any place dark enough in my trailer for them at night and the last thing I need is a reveg from light leaks.

(I just touched their soil and I'm feeling hopeful. It appears to be retaining its heat fairly well.)

They don't look any the worse for wear. Maybe we can git er done.

My plan when my tent goes in the garage is to hook a small blower type heater to a thermostat that will cycle on when it gets too cool. Would something like that work?

It probably would. My issue is that I have to use what I have on hand because I can't afford anything else at the moment.

...also have to watch my power consumption. I'd planned to have this porch enclosed by now but most of my trades have fallen through. I've got my regulars but that's groceries, propane, and truck fuel (454ci, 7-10mpg, suck it hippies, hehehe).
