Very nice info... Thx RF and thx for letting me hijack your thread again Justiceman! :) BTW I'm gonna listen to you guys and not repot my plants this late into bloom... :D
No prob man. Discussion about space requirements and such such interest me greatly. Ya i mean I just don't really hear about people re-potting in bloom, but you did say you have done it about what 2-3 weeks in? Definitely good to know you can still do it that far in If you really need to. Like you said before. If the transplant isn't stressful at all then it shouldn't really matter. I believe that. I suppose it depends on your transplant technique especially when plants get bigger later on in their life as it gets increasingly risky to disturb their already massive root system.

it seems as if u are fufilling your quest my friend!

Yes indeed. I am quite happy with my quest so far:winking0067:

wk 8(day 56)

I have an update here for you guys. Right now It's actually Week 7 day 55 but I just felt like posting the 8 week update today on my day off. So day 55 it is!

The time has come to watch for peak harvest point my friends. They are all looking nice and frosty. Most of the hairs are died back, and I am ever so slightly starting to see the beginning of amber tricks on the leaf tips. Just barely If anything. They have definitely fattened up about as much as they want to.

I know if I was on top of my N, and Cal Mag this round I would have yielded more and I would have possibly gotten more frost. But this was a good learning experience and I will implement my knowledge gained from this quest into the next quest. My aim is to improve my skills with every mistake. Well at least they say that under feeding is better then over feeding.

So about 4 days ago I watered with straight water and a very slight amount of molasses(about 2ml per gallon) just to bring the water PH down and add a little bit of energy for the microbes to finish off the immobilized nutrients. Then last night I gave them a nice straight R/O watering, and I will continue to give them pure R/O until harvest time(witch is going to be somewhere between this Thursday and next) Let me know what you guys think!:rasta2:
Here are some picture for you guys:

Your root mass almost completely stops growing after 3 weeks into flowering so at that point there is not reason to transplant.

Bro they are looking hella good. You have the day off today? Trying to hit the BPCC?

Looking great Justiceman! Yeah I've definately transplanted up to the 2nd week and was gonna transplant my section A plants at week 3, but that other discussion convinced me to not do the transplant and see what happens... Especially after seeing the small root ball from the previous round... ;) soil is def different from hydro in the root dept...

That Green Cush already looks ready lol

To be honest I'm not so sure about your root mass stopping after 3 weeks. Not to say that I would transplant at that time necessarily. I think you roots continue to grow in order to suck up enough nutrients as the flowers progress, but I suppose I don't really know for sure. I just know that their aim is to produce seed. They probably grow as many leaves, buds, and roots in order to try and produce seed. They very well may stop growing a few weeks after flower, but I'm just not sure. I do know that in DWC the roots keep on growing even through flower though.

They definitely are almost ready. I just want to wait a slight bit longer:animal0012:

They are definitely different. I still need to check out hydro as well. What soil did you use? Happy Frog cut 50/50 with Light Warrior? I last used Ocean Forest cut with more chunky perlite. I don't remember the ratios to be honest. It was outdoor, and for some reason the roots reached a particular side of the pot for some reason. Maybe it didn't get as hot on that side. I am anxious to see what the root balls look like with this roots organics soil. I think the more aeration material added to soil the more roots.
I am starting to dive into the "hydro" aspect except I will still do drain to waste. Pure coco here I come. I will probably amend it with coco croutons for extra aeration.

green crack i wont go back lol. nice job
Haha good line:cool0041: Thanks these nugs are the fruits of my labor. I definitely want to try out some other strains before I decide what I like the best.

yep that's the mix... 1:1 ratio as opposed to a 1 bag to one bag ratio which would be different. I was gonna add chunky perlite, but I'm hoping the Smart Pots will help the soil aerate more evenly throughout the pot as opposed to drying out on the top first...

I have seen pictures of your 50/50 mix. Looks like some good stuff. I know exactly what you mean when you add a bunch of perlite and it makes the top dry out faster then the rest. It's an uneven dry. That Smart pot idea is definitely a great one, because It will replace a portion of the perlite in a sense of added aeration and hopefully cause the dry period to become more even throughout the pot. That's one of the reasons I am trying coco next time as well because I hear that the coco literally pulls water around in the medium to ensure it has a consistent wetness instead of a certain spot just staying wet. I am considering either amending the coco 70/30 coco/coco croutons, or just 100% coco in smart pots(those really interest me).

Thanks Greents! I just noticed that Supa put one of my photos in for the nomination. Pretty happy about that definitely. I use a Cannon Power shot S410 digital elph 4mp. I believe the model was released some time around 2004

wk 8(day 61) Harvest Time!

Hey everyone! So today is the long awaited day of Harvest. I was planning on day 63(wk 9) but the trichs are telling me that harvest time is now. Wow it's crazy when you think about how fast the time goes by. It seems like they were just some small cuts yesterday. I went through some good times with these cuts and I learned a lot from them too. :cannabis:

So lets review equipment and stats:
Strains: Green Crack(Green Cush), Grandaddy Purple( I did three of each)
Space: 4x4x6.5ft Growlab Gl120(grow tent), 3x3 botanicare tray
Pot size: 10.5l(2.78gal)
Medium: Roots Organics potting soil(Coco fiber, peat moss, perlite, pumice, premium worm castings, bat guano, kelp, fish bone meal, soy bean meal, feather meal, green sand, leonardite, and alfalfa meal.)
Time: 24 days veg + and 61 days flower =85 days
Veg: 400w eye hortilux super hps(Lumatek ballast)
Flower: 600w eye hortilux super hps(Galaxy ballast)
Reflector(hood): Sun systems Super sun 2(6 inch flanges)
Carbon filter: Hydro hut Goblin
Nutrients: Roots Organics Full line(Bid Buddah grow, bloom, Extreme serene, trinity, ancient amber, hp, hpk) basically EWC, guano, kelp, and humic acids, Roots oregonisms Xl, Cannazym, EJ micro blast, and I also used Liquid Karma on side waterings, as well as CAL MAG every watering. I admit there were a few times when the teas weren't ready but the girls needed nutes so I gave them a little bit of the pura vida(good stuff) I have laying around but that was only a few times.

Deficiency and or problems: In the beginning of veg I ran into what I believe to be a calcium deficiency because I was unsure if the minerals in the roots organics soil would suffice for my r/o. Obviously they did not and it was necessary for me to begin administering Cal Mag. It appeared more so on the GD then the GC.
It's the very beginning. It stopped after I regularly applied Cal Mag
http://i23.invalid.com/albums/b389/kingoflessthen3/GDpurpdefeciencyorlockout2.jpg

About week 1 or 2 of flowering I ran into what I believe to be a trace mineral deficiency again. I think it was either magnesium, or sulfur(sometimes they get locked up together). However It could have also been light burn. Either way i raised the light at that time and started administering EJ micro blast and it cleared that up right away.
http://i23.invalid.com/albums/b389/kingoflessthen3/GC1day7.jpg
http://i23.invalid.com/albums/b389/kingoflessthen3/GC2.jpg

And as you well know I ran into a slightly big N deficiency a little over 2 weeks into flowering. I was attempting to not overfeed my plants but I was too conservative in that approach, and ended up underfeeding them.
http://i23.invalid.com/albums/b389/kingoflessthen3/Wk2day194.jpg

I also have a few comments regarding Roots Organics soil. It is great stuff, with decent drainage and what seems to look like a generous amount of perlite in it. Not to mention it is packed with great amendments. It is plant ready right out of the bag for outdoor. Notice how I say outdoor. IMHO It has good drainage and all, but because it is winter at the moment, it still didn't seem to dry out as fast as I wanted it to.

This could also be from the fact that my root system might be unsatisfactory(haven't harvested quite yet so I'll check later tonight when I do). If my root system is small and crappy, then I believe it is do to the fact I planted them straight up in 10.5l pots and the waterings were at least a few days apart even in flower. Next time I should work them up from the smallest size up to build a massive roots system so that I can water them every other day preferably. That way a lot more oxygen is getting too the root zone. I am also considering smart pots as they may help me in this endeavor for oxygen however I would probably use normal pots at the start but then transplant into a 3 gal smart pot for flower later on

So it seems like I ran into a few different problems. I am glad however that I was able to complete my grow with a good success regardless. I definitely learned a lot from this grow, and I am happy with the fruits of my labor but I realize that their is much room for improvement. There always is. My quest for resin has provided a succulent reward but many more await. The quest doesn't end here. It's merely beginning.

Next Quest:
Equipment/nutrient change: Canna coco, Pure Blend Pro nutes, coco croutons, roots excelurator, Sun pulse 6.4k for veg(If I can get it)

So here are some last day shots for you guys. I will put some shots of the drying nuggets up later after I harvest. I will also be providing you with a chronology of the plants in the next post. Hope you guys enjoy! Any comments, critique, or questions are greatly appreciated and welcome!

Last shots!
