Hello Everyone.. I'm new as a member to these forums but have been browsing in the background for several months.

I ran my first grow under a Bestva 1500w. I managed 132 grams from 4 plants in a 4x4. It was a great learning experience - especially that my light is a piece of shit.

For my second grow I ran 4 autos all starting under the light. I put one outside after ten days, and another 5 days after that. My intention was to kinda experiment with the sun vs. the light. The sun was obviously exciting compared to that piece of shit light. About a month in to my 2nd grow the Bestva burned out, and of course they aren't honoring the warranty. So all 4 plants were sitting outside. Now of course this is not a good idea as it's not legal where I'm at, but lockdown worked very well for that. I've finished 3 autos and the 4th is near ready.

So now it's time to order a new light!

I've been quoted $762.95 including $95 shipping for 2 x 320w w55 strip lights with Samsung 301H, Cree, and UV/IR. This will put me at 640w for my 4x4. I feel like I'm being over quoted based on what I see others paying on this forum. Thoughts?

My next step will be to cool my grow tent. My temps are 80+ with no light. I'm contemplating a 1hp portable aircon or using c02. I don't like that the aircon takes up so much space, and I can't find any options for something half that size. I don't need 12,000 BTU aircon capability. Half of that would be more than enough. I like that I can actually take advantage of my naturally high temps if I use c02. Much more research to do....

I am very much looking forward to the Kingbrite lights. I will be running 4 plants (white widow, alaskan purplse haze, super skunk, and northern lights

Getting the quantom boards may be cheaper or the sameish with 3 240w quantom boards not getting cree would reduce the price a lot. $442 without cree.
Up to you, but shipping is expensive over 100 for myself. Their qouted price sounds right. Cree costs a lot and they ramp up their prices for it

I dont care about geek light, they are to new of a company. They aernt as trustworthy and havent built a good reputation yet. I prefer more 660nm on a board those go for like 147.5 canadian on kingbrite... yours has uv and ir... but like I said who the heck is geeklight anyway.

I just dont trust geeklight hening sorry. I'd love to want to believe their umol/j and ppfd charts on the geekbeast pro, I'd buy that if it was a more well known company

No offense but you come across as someone paid to support geeklights or something a long those line.

Can you post your findings math and process?

They still have sold next to nothing in the alibaba space compaird to kingbrite with no real reviews or people to talk to about it. You give me bad vibes though.

You make a good point. I like the w55 boards for their coverage and that they run a bit cooler. Three x 240w QBs is cheaper, more watts, and the coverage would be just as good probably. I'm definitely going with Cree though.

I'm really having a hard decision whether or not to get the UV/IR on the boards. Would a separate UV strip from Kingbrite be sufficient for a 4x4 tent? As I understand it, UV should only be on 2hrs a day during the last 2 to 4 weeks of flower. I do see some that begin 2hrs a day in the last 2 weeks of veg and continue through flower.

As for IR - I'm confused. I understand that it is far red light. But the light already has Cree 660nm. Is the 700+ the IR? There should be a separate switch for the IR correct? And then I use it just for 15 mins when waking up and going to sleep... or all the way through flower? If I do go with a separate light for IR and not include it on the QBs.... what item from kingbrite would suffice for this?

I don't mind getting separate lights for UV and IR if it would be better and not too expensive. Amazon is not a great option where I live - Alibaba is much better.

Regarding IR - if someone can direct me to where I can learn about it properly that would be fantastic. I will find it eventually, but sifting through all the nonsense takes an incredible amount of time.

Uvb would be added at the last stages of flower. Uva though, im not sure it would add more blue to the spectrum so I imagine its good in veg and with the proper ratios of reds for flower.

700nm+ is the ir. It can be added for the whole flower stage if you get the right ratio, veg too. Its up to the grower.

If you are going for the emerson effect you need 660nm and ir together with the right ratio.

I dont know what board is best. They dont offer one with 660nm and ir switch with uv and in all honesty the amount of diodes on each board has me wondering if its even note worthy.

A board with a switch for 660nm and ir would be nice. The uva has a low life span compared to the other diodes...
Something to think about.

I dont know if they have that

I dont know how many of those strip lights you'd need either.

Going that route for me is expensive due to shipping to Canada

Its a headache... i know

That is what I got from Yuanhui. the 660nm and UV/IR diodes are on a switch.

Had to pay it on UPS.com

Someone suggested I could have asked Abby to write a different price on the import form, but I did not think of doing that at the time.

Ouch. I spent 674 on 4 qb 288 from kingbrite. I had Vicky declare a value of $90.00. I did not have any extra fees. But honestly i feared the product being lost in transport. Then i thought will i only be compensated for 90. That didnt happen but what if?

Yes. It's a Chinese cross between eBay and Amazon. That's how I see it.

Thank you, I noticed that but the pricing was what really got my attention.
I'm currently switching from a 1000 watt double ended hps and from what I can see the bars might be more efficient than the panels for my 4x4 tent.
Does anyone have any input on the matter of light bar systems vs panels?

I am not sure that the debate has been settled. I may be biased, but I think 2x 240w QB panels are the best bet. 3x if you want to use co2 or push things. They ship them in packs of 2 so you get good bang for your buck shipping wise getting 2.

I think bars are maybe better coverage, but I don't see comparably many people going with that option. I think maybe there is more DIY or cost involved for similar results? The obvious way to go for a greenhouse or somewhere that you need to let sunlight through. But I don't see why to go that way in a 4x4 tent. I could be mistaken though.

They're advertising a flowering footprint for a 8x8 tent but I'm calling bs, at 680 watts of actual power consumption I'd say 5x5 at best which would still suit me well

generally people only buy from kingbrite and meijiu. That light i don't know bro, i don't think these two companies sell that product. The flower footprint is 5x5 and veg is 8x8 so it says... id need to see ppfds.and even so it can't be trusted

After this I'll leave the Samsung review alone lol....
Just wanted to inform you guys that the seller came back with $450 after shipping. I definitely dont believe this light will flower an 8x8 tent but I'm going to give it try in my 4x4.
I only grow during the winter so I'm stocking up like a squirrel right now but I'll make a journal and look forward to hearing from everyone
