China, usa or timbuktu i could not care less where my light comes from. All that matters is the cost and performance.

I am happy with the cost of my spiderfarmer 4000 and also the performance

Dummy math 10 cents a kilowatt hour here 1000w at 12 hours is 1.20 per night......my 600w hid then consumes 72 cents a night. The 320W led fusion board costs 40 cents a night. My 600w setup cost 165 bucks complete with 2 bulbs The fusion just cost 480 bucks and I had to spend some time drilling and tapping aluminum heatsink, but that was just my time and gas. So basically lets say the led cost me 300 bucks more.... 35 cents a night 1000 nights approx 3 years or the expected life of these babies ? Savings? only if you get shafted for hydro IMO. Funny that, if your utility is raping you, then you end up raping domestic manufacturing, I guess chinese advertising is capitalizing on that. Well played China....

Hmm they make 600w HID bulbs that last 3 yrs?

Expected life of a quality LED I would say is more along the lines of 5-10yrs

yep oops 40 bucks a year more, well at least the fixture will outlast my bulbs which are...hmm...replaceable. The LED light longevity claims are FALSE, unsubstantiated, and pertain only to the emitter. 50,000 hrs 100,000 hrs life expectancy is abject nonsense. I'm not saying led can't grow fantastic weed, but cost effective replacement for HID is no where near the reality reported by its own peers. Oh ever have to change your led taillight? Same bullshit, all made for a throwaway world. An 1157 incandescent bulb is under 5 bucks, and melts the ice forming on your taillights all winter. Your led taillight module with a 35,000 hr life expectancy, is 1179 dollars , and isn't covered by your powertrain warranty. Try replacing it in 8 years LOL Whole car obsolete and fails safety because of an unavailable, obsolete led light. Wonder why you can't get a loan for a 5 yr. old plus car? LOL

We are talking much difference conditions here.... ppl who don't have an argument always reach to compare something else. I'm guessing all the LED grows expose thier light to nonstop rattling around, rain, winter conditions of -50 etc etc etc.... thats your big argument a tail light?

Show me some life expectancy reported by peers of quality leds consistently failing at 3 yrs. My hlg 600 is 3 yrs old and has ot a single issue. Your plain and simple wrong or have an obscure idea as to what a quality led is.

So 5 yrs let's go with that for a sec 60 months $40 a bulb per 8 months that $300 more in bulbs... then the fact you save on electricity while putting out more light. Honestly I'm not sure where your getting you info or just trolling but it's something that has been proven time and time again.

Not to mention if a board did go I can also buy a replacement board... no different than a light bulb

Well yes my big argument is yes longevity claims, see if all is good in 2 years with the HLG, I imagine it will, as it is a to end unit ,
probably THE best units available. It is going to be satisfying to see how the LED growlight industry will upended by simple screw-in replacement 120W led full spectrum bulbs for 30 bucks won't be long IMO in 1 year you can retro fit your homemade cfl array and get 1000w of good quality led growlight for 250 bucks, LOL hey my array even comes with an on/off switch, UL listed for 3.69 at crappy tire. I appreciate wanting everything 'new and current', but patience (gardeners best skill) will actually save growers tons of money, and reliability won't be an issue.

I hope you're right. I'm holding out for the tech to become more affordable myself. Although I think ill always have some HID going for heat, I'd love to supplement my room with affordable LED.

Just took down a led today and put in a hps. Probably need to change again soon. Better than using a heater and the girls love it.

just install on a hemi-sphere and run different intensity, its quite simple with chips and such, no? vertical growing in a tent with a 30 buck light, thats what I will get excited about. I guess my main problem is that I run in an unheated basement area. Well insulated and ventilated, suits the daily fluctuations in temps, due to HD power. So its a personal preference thing, but I stand by that they are middlingly reliable, cheaply assembled, over represented, and projected money savings are heavily situational. Just look carefully before blowing large on a 'new' LED.

I agree pick the right tool for the job... and that's not always LED. But likewise not always HID.
