I’m a newbie running cheap leds right now, I’m not bias in any way just been doing research on light and asking tons of questions. All rite, I’m a HPS/CMH grower from the beginning of my favorite passion, Growing Weed indoors not in a tent in built rooms.
I have recently changed up to LEDs in my room. Plants were transplanted and changed up all in the exact same manner. Plants had spider mites and thrips and were root bound. Transplanted from 1 gallon soil pots to 5 gallon buckets. 6 plants were put under 315w cmh and 6 plants under 2 different LED lights from 2 different manufacturers.
I’m not naming any names but they are “top of the line” LED fixtures. The six plants under the CMHs have bounced back extensively well from 2 weeks ago.View attachment 905649View attachment 905643
The 6 plants under the LEDs are a good week plus behind the plants under the CMHs.

Environment is exactly the same temp, humidity and so forth.
I’m pretty disappointed my hole idea of changing over to LED was to save money on the electric bill.
But if my plants are not going to produce to the full extent I can push them I’m going to have to bite the bullet and go back to my double ended HPS. Witch has treated me and my plants to the best ability It possibly can. I can actually see the difference in canopy light penetration between the CMH and LED. Any thoughts on this subject would be appreciated.
You LED guys don’t throw a fit on me either:)
I no how touchy you guys are with these lighting issues:)

I’ve noticed most LED growers grow in tents and the plants are trained in a way to grow without canopy penetration to an extent.I’m a newbie running cheap leds right now, I’m not bias in any way just been doing research on light and asking tons of questions.
It is my opinion that if you can handle all the side affects of the Hps bulbs I don’t think the intensity can be beat yet? Although the QB lights and cob lights are getting close. there are tons of LED guys that are getting great harvest! But they do present there own problems ! Growing techniques will be altered for sure.
Just my opinion
Lol yes. If your in a small tent your biggest enemy is heat. So led is a logical answer.I’ve noticed most LED growers grow in tents and the plants are trained in a way to grow without canopy penetration to an extent.
Yes, I’m about ready to throw my g****as back in there and fire em up to 700 true watts.315's for the CMH's?

Will be cool to see your results.Im about the throw a 4 x 8 up and rock the 2 630's over it and see what I can hit in flower. Maybe even an extra 315 in the middle.
I think they’ll be fine for veg but they’ll have to be eased in before flip. I’ve been running those led inserts for my t-5 fixtures and they seem to work great. But I still have 3 T-5s in the same fixture.Sucks it didn't work out so far. That has always been my concern with them. I'm keeping plants a lot shorter and a little less veg now so maybe it's a viable option. The main thing Im waiting to see is the longevity of these "expensive" setups. If you are only getting 2-3 years out of them think I'll continue waiting. Also would like to see what kind of die back you get after a year or so or if the spectrum shifts.
thats what im running 4 bulb t5ho,tore the 16 bulb apart and built into a 4 bulb for the tiny cracker box 2x4x5 tent,im really not wild about tents ,but you do what you have to some times you dig. shit when i threw up that t5 in the 4 x10 closet 8ft tall cranked themn lights on come back into a cheech and chong room come morning, fried them bitchs on the stalk didnt even get a hit all went threw the filters dammit, put it in a box and 4 yrs later said i fix that bitch so i did,it ois perfect as far as heat, goes all the way across the tent, and its lite, plants are loving it so far, when i got it got veg, bloom ,uvb, the other one cant think name right now but supose to be better bloom bulb, bitch be beam me up scotty hahahahI think they’ll be fine for veg but they’ll have to be eased in before flip. I’ve been running those led inserts for my t-5 fixtures and they seem to work great. But I still have 3 T-5s in the same fixture.
Definitely! I don’t like it but it’s better than not growing! I’m in a medical state that has a lot of restrictions so low profile till 2020when you find out let me know, same here i grow under hid lighting same setup and every thing,no problem, put them led lights in there and fought the plants all the way to finish,so to be sure another run same thing, like said heat ,but i dont think that was it either, the led lights only ran about 5 degrees difrent from hid in the tent, this i know there is a huge difrence from running inmy closet grow versus a tent, tent suck man aint no doubt,i think really my problems lay there,im just use to open as in a closet or room, guess being confined has something to do with it
if it were legal here i still wouldnt be,aint none there damn biz if i grow my own meds, state and gov wont pay my medical bills ,i sure as hell aint giving them my life history ,they probally couldnt handle it,i just take my chances with growing 1 tree every year, that do me and mama just fine.Definitely! I don’t like it but it’s better than not growing! I’m in a medical state that has a lot of restrictions so low profile till 2020
?Well same temps humidity and environmental conditions right? That's likely your issue.

Leaf temps will be way different no IR or UV in those LEDs like CMH. They need warmer temps to make up for this.
Yes, I have done all your suggestions.Leaf temps will be way different no IR or UV in those LEDs like CMH. They need warmer temps to make up for this.
Also you need to maximize the light intensity. If you have an IR temp gun move the led as close as possible I can get away with 80k lux try about 70-80k and make sure leaf temps are 75-78f.
