Today is day five since the change to 12/12 for the Blueberry Muffins.

I now have their lights coming on at 10:00 PM and off at 10:00 AM. I wanted to try running with lights on at night time hoping that it would help me keep temps down in the tent.

I started introducing the SE5000 running at 40% this week. bumped up the hours @ 40% each day and today will be the first night trying 40% for the full day. The light is currently 33" from the top of the canopy. So far these have been pretty happy running with less light. Maybe now that we are starting the flower process, they might ask for more....we shall soon find out!

So far the hottest that the tent has gotten was 85 degrees, but as the evening progresses, the house cools down and it tends to settle right at 82 degrees for the majority of lights on.

The Deathstar plant is just humming along. I have not started to put her outside yet. I think it is probably still too early and I wanted to wait for the cuttings to take root (hopefully) because once she is outside, she ain't coming back inside!

Speaking of the cuttings, none have popped any roots out yet, but all of them....both the Deathstar and the BBM cuts are still looking nice and green and fresh. Just a waiting game now I suppose.

I still have not watered the 4 BBM's again. I am guessing they will be ready tomorrow. I weighed the pots and they were @ 19.5 lbs. I wanted to get down to 18 minimum before watering again.

So far I am very happy with this run and I think that the girls are looking healthy. The Blueberry Muffins are starting to stretch, but I am not thinking that they will do much more than double....I hope. They really filled the tent up and I am excited to see what kind of yield I might be able to pull out of this run, assuming that I don't crash & burn...

Here's a couple of pics!

Update time

The 4 BBM's are now one full week in on their new light schedule and they are pushing out some growth over the past few days. They all got watered on Sunday and I always notice a significant growth spurt each time they get watered. That helped me understand the whole soil--->coco--->hydro thing... I did give each a spoonful of molasses w/ their water as a little treat this time. Hopefully it doesn't kill them! LOL

Anyway, they are running at 40% on the light and I will start to bump it up a little more in a day or so. It's crazy to me that I only have the light set at 40% output, but the plants are happy and I don't think that they are stretching in a way that makes me think "not enough light"....

Speaking of the light - I measured this evening when the lights came on. The tallest plant (#1 = back left corner) is now at 34" from floor to canopy. That leaves 31" from tallest canopy to the light. The shortest plant (#4 = right front corner - planted 1 week after the other three) is standing tall at 31" and that leaves 34" from canopy to the light.

I will be interested to see how much they stretch - and hoping that I keep plenty of distance from the light...I really want this grow to be successful. I will say that the lights coming on at 10 PM now has really forced me to leave them alone and stop dicking with them, and I think that they are appreciating it! LOL Hopefully the cuttings will root soon and that will give me something to keep me occupied for a bit.

Have a great week everyone!

Grow looks amazing! 💚

Ignore the drooping at lights off. It's called nyctinasty and it's part of their daily circadian rhythms.

I'm excited to see these ladies in a few weeks in full flower mode!

Sunday update time! Today was day 14 since light change....and my girls are making buds!

All four of the BBM's got watered tonight (Sunday evening) and I started once the lights came on at 10:00. I did add 5ml CalMag to each gallon of my RO water and each pot got a scoop of worm castings mixed into the soil before watering.

It seems like the stretch has dramatically slowed down and maybe even stopped already??? The tallest (#1 in the back left of the tent) is 37" tall from the floor and I have 28" to the light. The shortest plant (#4 in the front right) is 34" tall from the floor and we have 31" to the light.

I did start to bump the light up to 50% for a few hours per day over the past couple of days. I am going to give them about 6 hours @ 50% tonight and see how they react. If they are happy, I'll leave it there. If the girls don't get any taller, I am guessing I will be turning it up, or I will have to remount the light so I can lower it. I "hard mounted" it to the top of the tent and it's not adjustable. I'd rather leave it up high and just turn the light up if needed (the install as it sits looks clean, and I don't want to clutter it up...LOL

The Deathstar plant is doing nicely and one of her cuttings has rooted and I put that one into a solo tonight. So far only the one deathstar cutting has rooted...none of the BBM cuttings have rooted yet, but I will be patient. Now that I have one rooted cutting, I am planning to put the big Deathstar outside to see what she can do in the sunlight!

I am thinking that the BBM's will be ready for a top dressing with the next watering. I will be doing Gaia Green @ 70% PB and 30% AP, and I will add some glacial rock money dust stuff in as well. If there is anything you guys recommend to help through flower, I am all ears! They look so healthy right now and I am terrified that I am gonna fug it up!

I am really happy with my ventilation system and the temps during lights on have been peaking at 81 degrees but mostly staying at 78 degrees. During lights off it is holding at 71 to 72 degrees.

Quick question.... should I do the "big" defoliation after the end of week three, or do I want to do it as soon as I am sure they are done with the stretch? There is quite a bit of stuff that will never see light that I need to get rid of and I don't want to screw the timing up. (I have all of my scissors cleaned up and ready for surgery!)

Another quick update just to document this grow journal... The comments I made yesterday about thinking that they had stopped stretching, that was incorrect. LOL. I just got to peek at them when the lights came on at 10PM and all four of them put on some height, especially the two shorter plants - they are trying to catch up!

Two more of the Deathstar cuttings rooted, so I got them into their solo's.

The BBM cuttings are freaking me out a little because none of them have roots poking out of the plug yet. The first clones I cut from the muffins all rooted really fast, like a week and a half. I think they still look good, just no roots yet. I'm not in a hurry or anything, but i have them all labeled for which plant they were cut from to keep a mother of my favorite of the 4....so I want to save all of them if possible.

Here are the 4 BBM clones that I cut on 5/11. I think they still look good, so I will just keep doing what I'm doing, and wait.

Today is day 19 since light change and the Blueberry Muffin ladies are rocking right along! No real updates other than they got 9 hours of the SE50000 running at 50% and 26" from the canopy. They might not be 100% ready for it yet, but we will keep nudging them along and try to keep the stress at a minimum.

I expect to be watering them tomorrow or Monday and they will be getting a top dressing of 3 TBSP/Gallon of soil and a 70/30 mix of Gaia PB and AP, along with a couple of scoops of worm castings.

The stretch appears to have stopped now, so I will check again tonight when the lights come on, but I am thinking it's time to do some trimming - these girls are thick!

Still no roots showing on the BBM cuts, but they are still green and look good, so I will just let it ride. I will say that going into flower, plant #1 was my early favorite, but plant #4 is making a move for that position. Although, since none of the cuttings have rooted yet, I don't know that it really matters much. LOL

I am ready to put the Deathstar plant outside, but the more I read about bug problems, etc. it just makes me want to keep it inside and flower it off once the BBM's are done.... we shall see.

Here are a few pics to show the end of stretch and before defoliation.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Journal Update.

The Blueberry Muffins needed water tonight (this morning for the girls) But, before they got watered they got a bit of a haircut.

I really stripped the lower middle of all four plants. On my first grow (started last August) I went WAY overboard with the week 3 flower defoliation, so I tried to be selective. I freaked out a little at first, but there were dying leaves in the middle of all of the plants and they needed thinned out - the dying leaves were getting no light and no air.... "I had to get it on, man!"

After the trim, I top dressed the soil with Gaia Green amendments at 3 TBSP/Gal of medium. I am in 7 gallon pots, but I feed like they are in 5's. So that would be 15 TBSP, but I round it up to 16 since that equals 1 cup. (11 TBSP of PB and 5 TBSP AP) They also got some worm castings and I did add 5ml CalMag to my RO water. They each got a full gallon each over about 3 hours and this was the first time I did not get ANY run-off....and them sum bitches were heavy! LOL

I turned the light back down to 40% for tonight to not stress them any further, and will watch for when they seem to want more again.

Here is how they look after the trim. That side profile looks like a butcher job, but the top view of the canopy still has pretty full leaf cover. I want to make sure to leave enough mature fans toward the end of flower for some stored reserves, if needed.

Thank you!

I did freak out a little last night - when I opened the tent, the two plants on the right side of the tent are showing some spots on the top/new fan leaves that look like rust spots. In looking at it and comparing online, I think it is a calcium deficiency, but the other two plants are perfect. I have been adding cal-mag to my RO water, but I am guessing I may need to up the ml/gal for the two right plants. I really don't want to screw this up! After my initial panic, I calmed down and just tried to think through it.

I will get some pics tonight when the lights come back on to have the experts here confirm if my suspicion is correct.... hopefully I don't open the tent to find a disaster.... I really don't want to buy any more dispo weed..... 😧

Ok, I have something going on for sure with the right two Blueberry Muffin plants (#2 and #4) and I am pretty sure it is calcium deficiency....but I am hoping that someone here can confirm or if not, point me in the right direction? Today is day 24 since switching to 12/12 and I am getting some branches on these two plants with rust colored tips on the fan leaves and the rust colored spots on the leaves. The issue is only on the top of the plant, a fan leaf or two down from the top. Otherwise they look wonderful! LOL

They are all in 7 gallon fabric pots, FFHF soil with extra perlite. Feeding Gaia Green amendments @ 3 TBSP/Gallon of soil, but I am feeding based on 5 gallons, so 15 TBSP per plant and the last feed was 70% Power Bloom and 30% AP, along with worm castings. I do water with RO water and had been giving a TBSP of gypsum and epsom every other week. I did recently start adding cal-mag to my water, and I am wondering if I just started doing that just a week or two too late??? The other two plants don't show any of these issues.

In case it is asked, the light is a Spider Farmer SE5000 in my 39x39" tent, the light is now at 40% power and is 24" from the canopy. I did have it turned up to 50% for a full day or two. When I noticed the changes in the leaves, I turned it back down to 40%.

I am trying so hard to do it right and this is frustrating! But I am trying to be logical and diagnose and then correct.

Thank you for any help/guidance you can offer! 🙏

Here is a couple pics of the tent this morning, just before lights out... I think they otherwise still look really healthy, except for the jacked up leaves!

Sunday update time - Day 27 of 12/12.

Whatever the spotting and burning that was going on with the right two Blueberry Muffin plants seems to be resolving. I am pretty sure it was a cal deficiency, but the burned edges on only a few of the fan leaves on those two plants has me stumped..... but the new growth is looking much better, so fingers crossed.

I did end up mixing in a tablespoon each of epsom and gypsum into the soil of all four plants and lightly wetted it in with my sprayer - I did that on Thursday night. They were not ready for a full watering yet, and I figured that maybe that would help since they won't get more cal/mag until the next watering. I was thinking they would need watered tonight, but I guess a combo of the defol last weekend and the light top watering, they may go another day or two. Pots still felt heavy and the plants are looking good, so I will let them ride another couple of days.

Before I water next time, I am going to check the PH of the RO water + cal/mag - just to see what it is out of curiosity. I may give the girls a little bit of molasses with the next watering as a little treat for the microbes.

The Spider Farmer SE5000 is running at 50% and is now 24" from the canopy. Temps during lights on settle right around 80 degrees and keeping VPD in the 1.5 - 1.6 range. Fighting low humidity during lights on which is driving the VPD up. Temps during lights off are right around 71 - 72 degrees and 54 - 58% humidity.

I got my two outdoor plants in the ground this weekend. I planted them pretty close to the barn in hopes that the deer will leave them alone, but I don't think it's gonna matter..... We shall see!

Here are a couple of pics for the journal.

Time for the Blueberry Muffin weekly update! Today is day 34 since light change - Tuesday will be the 5 week mark!

Things went pretty well this week and they FINALLY dried out enough that I got to do a full watering on Friday evening (lights come on at 10 PM). Each plant got a little over 1 gallon of RO water with 5 ml cal/mag and a shot of FF Big Bloom, along with a fresh scoop of worm casting worked into the dirt before watering.

I started to push the lights a little bit and these plants don't seem to want anymore than 50% from this SE5000. The light is 22-24" from the canopy. I gave them a couple of hours of 60% and the fan leaves went vertical, so I dropped it back down and will roll along at 50% for now. When should I start decreasing the light output at the end of flower???

The spotting issue that I was having on plants #2, #3 and #4 is continuing on the fan leaves that were affected, but the newer growth above those leaves are looking good! I will leave even the ugly leaves for now, but when it comes time to take a few, those will be the first to go.

Out of these 4 plants, plant #1 is still my favorite by far. It was the biggest seed, the most vigorous in veg and is BY FAR the frostiest of the 4 plants AND this one is not showing any signs of nute stress, deficiency, etc... I have two cuttings from plant #1 that I will be making sure to treat well - if the smoke is good, this one might be a keeper!

Anyway, the buds seem to be starting to swell up a little....and on Friday night I ended up having to tie up some of the taller colas because they were flopping over. I wanted to use my trellis net, but I was afraid of not being able to lift the pots to check weight, etc. This is my first time in 7 gal pots as well as my first time using Gaia Green amendments, so I was afraid of bad watering habits. Probably a good thing too because I cannot believe how long these girls go without needing water, so if I couldn't lift them I am certain that I would be over watering and fucking everything up.

I finally got some plants outside too!

I have a deathstar in the ground and she is thriving! I just dug a big ass hole between the barn and the tree line, threw about 10 gallons of FFHF and amended pro-mix into the hole and stuck the plant right in there fresh out of the solo cup. I am going to put one of the Blueberry Muffin cuttings outside as well. I am curious as to how tall these things will get and will be cool to see the difference between indoor and outdoor. I just hope I don't forget about them too much during the dry stretches in summer. Getting water back there is gonna be a pain in the ass. LOL

Anyway, here are some pics from this morning. Thanks for taking a look and Happy Fathers Day everyone!
