Dabbing ruined weed for me... I couldn't get high off flowers after smoking dabs for a little bit.. Hada break from it all for a cpl days to reset everything.. Now flowers rock! Couldn't imagine taking a dab now lol

But there right flowers won't really work if your a bho smoker... I was a gram a day smoker to put it into perspective.. so it fucked my tolerance up pretty good.. going thru 30 grams of bho a month is just bad... just.. bad..

@LittleDabbie thanks for sharing bro! I am a total lightweight when it comes to dabs; a gram would last me a month or better since I don't dab daily. Even tiny dabs obliterate me. I can't imagine dabbing a gram a day.

Well it didn't start off at a gram a day ya know, It was small dabs but alot of them thru out the day, which just snowballed into more dabs and more dabs..

Its easy to fall into doing them all day when you have access or make your own, But if your buying it i suspect the price alone would drive most people away from consuming too much of it in 1 day.

It seems to me that while dabs are potent and all , that flowers give me a better quality high. I think there is too much terp evaporation in bho.

I don't know if it's just me but it seems like dabs only keep me medicated for 45 mins or so whereas flowers usually last a few hours. Could be my imagination but I know what you mean.

Couldn't agree more! Flowers offer more of a full plant extract via combustion/slight vaporization if your chill with the lighter.. But bho being heat treated and vac purged is void of alot of that.. High that flowers provide.

I've never dabbed, I have no interest in it and prolly' won't ever try it.

I like my straight homegrown buds for the flavors and the high/stone. My ice water extracted bubble hash is as far as I'll go.

Most of my friends dab away and it seems like they smoke all the time and never seem to get enough. IMO it almost becomes an addiction for them. But hey ....to each is own.

A couple beers and a bowl of weed keeps me happy.

It really does become just that, After being off them for a few months i look back at my use as purely addiction and my excuses for using bho were that of an addict...

Im still an addict but i don't smoke more then 2 zips a month now vs the 5 i was going thru with bho...

No shame in my admission id rather be addicted to weed then 90% of the other shit ive consumed in my life.

I do wanna say this.. Bho DOES have its place.. Concentrates like that have a value , But they can also be abused.. Theres a very fine line that once you cross it, its pretty hard to go back..

Sick kids, Cancer patients, people in serious pain, Ms patients ect ect can all benefit from bho.. But they can abuse it just as much as a recreational user can.. Its all about moderation. <--- Something im still trying to learn with flowers. :D

I hate to say this....but you only live once....I wish they would just outlaw bho extractions period.
There are enough ways to extract terps that are not so dangerous to novelist extracters ,and unknowing patients consuming tane soup.
I go to huge dab parties for the networking, actually got to meet Charlo Green recently at a OC event.
But I'm amazed at how many 20 somethings are hooked on the dablife. And I'm amazed at how many of the extracts are really not up my standards as far as quality and purity of product. It's crazy.

Went thru the same crazy cycle that @LittleDabbie and others mentioned but this was like 4 years ago..only been top shelf flowers and scissor hash for me and the lady ever since and will likely stay that way..good thread , always a hot topic in stoner circles nowadays

Because I've used sublingual cannabis for about a decade, neither flower or dabs get me high.

I've mostly stopped smoking flower, because of the carcinogenic byproducts of pyrolysis produced, and because it gave me chronic bronchitis. Burning cannabis produces some of the same free radicals and carcinogens that burning tobacco does.

If I intake through my lungs, I typically dab, because it is easier on my bronchial tubes, but minimize doing so to preserve what I have left.

Those wishing to dab, but paranoid about solvents, have the option of simply learning to use solvents correctly themselves, or can check out other options like Rosin, using a hair straightener.

I personally like the taste of flowers and a good dry sieve, as well as QWET, BHO, and Rosin. Having judged concentrates at High Times and ICM events, and done testing with our own GC, I can affirm that there can be a wide range of quality.

Locally, concentrates require 3rd party lab testing for solvent, pesticides, and mold, to be sold at dispensaries. A good idea, because even a well made concentrate can't protect you from pesticides and aflatoxins, coming from the flowers themselves.

Safest to grow and extract your own, so you know exactly what you are ingesting, and avoid burning it.

I am like Graywolf, I can dab, smoke flowers, or eat insanely potent edibles and not really get high. They all work about the same. I am really looking forward to the hash that a fellow thcfarmer is making for me, using ice/water dabbable hash. I have no doubt this will be of the highest quality, and will keep all the good flavors and smells of the flowers. Then, like graywolf stated, your only smoking thc instead of carcinogenic byproducts of pyrolysis.

Many people think "dabs" are bad, but they are better for you in almost every aspect. (except harmful residuals resulting from poor extracting process) Then you make your dabs with water as your solvent......best and cleanest way to smoke.

On top of that, if MJ stays legal and is everywhere like alcohol, then I predict stores selling e-pen cartridges full of hash of some sort. So much easier and more acceptable to be puffing on a pen then smoking a joint. Gives smoking a whole new look.

I agree with the snowball theory .I went from 0.5g to a G. Quick! And when I run I don't smoke flowers unless wife wants too. And for a few days I gotta medicate 3- 4 times before I get to bed. But I love dabbin so yummy!

With regard to tolerance, our experiments with end of life patients trying to build their tolerance to a gram a day dosage rate, for the Rick Simpson cure, suggested that tolerance ranged from the few ultra low tolerance patients whom were discombobulated at .25X dose, to about average low tolerance dosage of 1X without discombobulation, upwards to ultra high tolerance at about 3X dose. We always started unknown tolerance patients out at .25X dose.

1X dose of our HS Oil, or sublingual troches, was 100 mg. Excluding the ultra sensitive minority, as standard tolerance 1X dose patient, would be discombobulated at 2X, but a 3X patient might be functionally stupid, but still functioning at 6X, depending on how long they have been high tolerance.

It also depends on the mix, as both CBD and CBN mollify the effects of the THC, as does the entourage of mono and sesquiterpenes that are in cannabis essential oils. We were able to use higher dosages and increase the dosage faster, using a strain like Cannatonic, with close to a 50%/50% split on THC and CBD at around 14% each.

At Dr Melamede's advice, we also started providing patients with Citicolene at 3X the oil dosage, 20 minutes before taking the oil sublingual. It also assuages the effects of the THC, allowing the patient to build higher dosages faster, without discombobulation.

When I became an Oregon OMMP patient around a decade ago, I was still recovering from trauma related to youthful debauchery, and developed high tolerance rapidly, so that my pain dose was 300 Mg twice a day. Time and two biomechanical knees, have reduced my dosage to a 200 mg sublingual troche once a day, and I dab using an electric Ti nail for any head effects I desire.

Not getting high, doesn't mean zero head effects. I can watch things going on in my head, just like I watch my body relax, and note when the activity level is increased and my short term memory become erratic. If I stay on it, my short term memory becomes so erratic, that at any sidetrack in the conversation, I may lose track of what we are talking about, and have to be reminded but someone else in the group.

If we have all been dabbing equally, often no one else in the group can remember either by that point, so it appears to be a common affliction at heavy dosage levels.

What is missing in the "high" is the elated feelings. It is replaced with more of a relaxed sense of well being an nominal dosages levels.

The other thing I note at high dosages, is that I am more lethargic than relaxed and don't handle extreme stress as well. I find it harder to find the right words to express myself, and I feel higher levels of frustration, as well as being more excitable.

As a last thought, part of the lethargy are entourage monoterpenes like b-Myrcene, which will couch lock you all by itself, so never lose track of the huge effect the strain itself has.

I love the ice/water method, better known as bubble hash. I have been using this method for years now. A little time consuming for the return. I also don't that extracting using co2 works well without none of the butane worries

Awesome observations greywolf I often find that extremely high doses leave me more lethargic than relaxed, and sometimes certain strains can cause an very intense body load that can almost be uncomftorable. Cannabis is technically considered a psychedelic still, which is much easier to see when you take a high dose of edibles to realize that it's possible to have a "bad" weed experience. That being said cannabis is a very unique substance when it comes to telerance. Being a ex opiate user the mechanism of how most drugs work with tolerance is much diff than marijuana. The physical tolerance quickly goes away, similar to most drugs, but the mental tolerance of cannabis disappears quickly to, unlike with other drugs like opiates, stimulants and benzos. Once you gain a tolerance for a drug like heroin and stop your tolerance will go down but you will never experience the same pleasure off it as you did in the beginning. Now maybe it's differnet for you, but cannabis has always been different for me
