I just finished up my first go with an auto—DNA's
60 Day Wonder, and found that LSTing substantially increased the yield on my taller phenotypes. The reason for this is that these strains generally grow in the classic indica format of one main cola and lesser producing side branches. I found that by LSTing the taller girls so that the main cola was level with the rest of the canopy drastically improved my yields. At this point I should note that I was also using CFLs (278w total) and did this to maximize light penetration. In the end I was able to take the main colas off around 63 days and let the rest bulk up (and it did) until it was reaped at ~68-70 days.
So to answer your question—yes, IMHO.
