I've done clones, and I don't like it. I really prefer doing seed-starts outside.

That said, this last year I did some clones from NCGA. He's got a computerized lighting system that acclimates them for outdoors, and I'm just gonna say it was AMAZE-BALLS. Grew EXACTLY like a seed start, nary a hairy branch anywhere.

This is what I like about tissue culture propagation. They grow much more like little seedlings than cuts.

I've always germinated Christmas Day so I can everything cupped by New Years. Have everything sexed by fen and then with topping and pinching get massive plants before stereotypical outdoor season even starts. I keep outside the whole time so it on a natural cycle too

This year I am gonna do mostly clones. I will purchase them from a friend around the beginning of march.. I will transplant them into one gallon pots and put them in the barn under lights with 18 hours of light and 6 hours of veg... After they start getting a little bigger and healthier I will put them into the greenhouse and transplant them into ten gallon pots or 15 gallon pots. I will hang a couple lights in the greenhouse and give them a couple extra hours of light in the early morning.. For example the lights will come on at 2 am and will go off after 7 am when the sun is already out.. I will slowly start winding down the light cycle by about 10 minutes every other day.... May 20th is the day that I have always read you can put clones out without them flowering so on that day I will transplant them into their final home (300 gallon pots this year)

Here are some of the reasons that I am trying to switch to entirely doing clones this year...
1. I want to be able to grow the exact same thing as the year before and be able to get the same clones easily and consistently.
2. I want to grow 95% of one strain and get rid of all the different pheno types you get with seeds. (it will make my life as well as my workers life so much less complicated during harvest time)
3. I am sick of looking for males and pulling out massive plants that took forever to sex.
4. All seed starts have 4 different pheno types and it confuses the buyers as well as the workers trying to keep everything separate. ( I love that you get a couple different varieties but for larger scale it makes things difficult)
5. I don't have to get the clones until march so it gives me a couple more months of vacation time during winter.
6.A lot of the buyers are specifically looking for the big name brands that are associated with the more popular clones..
7.. I can always plant 5 or 6 plants on the side that will be for my smoke (my friends grow really good herb as well. So I can always just trade for some super heady good organic herb thats different then what I grew) It would get boring smoking the same things all the time but I have access to so many different flavors from my buddies its not an issue

@Bulldog11 So my cover crops are growing well and I'm trying to figure out what my next step should be and when should I do it.. Should i buy that AACT stuff you were talking about and the other thing you mentioned earlier in this thread.. Also when should I rototill it up and cover it ( sorry if you already answered some of these earlier I just want to double check what you think i should do)

Hey Mendo, good to hear from you.

First thing, I agree with all your reasons as to why not to grow from seed. However, the biggest problem you may face, is early flowering. It seems you have a good game plan, but let me tell you from experience, clones can be trouble. With that said, I hope you kill it.

Not sure what you mean by, buy act stuff. You don't even have a brewer? Simple to make, let me know if you need direction. Then it's just mollases and EWC, as to Microbeman's directions @ http://www.microbeorganics.com/

Here is how I would approach the soil:

#1 Take soil tests before you till, maybe 6 weeks before planting. Logan Labs is the best, IMO.

#2 Test should take a week or two, pay for recommendations. Then apply recommended amendments before tilling.

#3 Till in cover crop, and mix up everything really well.

#4 Add ACT (or not, will help speed up breakdown, aka cooking)

If you have trouble converting your soil tests to yardage, or whatever, then feel free to post up the results when you get them. I am interested in your soil after a year of what appeared to be heavy feeding. Tuned in for sure.

Just my 2 cents with clones outdoors and I know yall got it handled. When I put them outside in early April they started to flower immediately. By July 1st they look like there getting close to finish. Then they started to rebloom again and stretched. Because they were in bloom so long it attracted more critters compared to the seedlings that started blooming later. It made the tops look like some funky foxtails at first until it filled in. Just what I experienced. I hope you kill it bro. Good luck.

You don't have to pay for results, sorry, I should not have said that. I would be willing to help, and can direct you to others much smarter than I.

I personally always pay for recommendations, because they come from a professional. Just let them know you're growing cannabis.

What an awesome thread to read thru.. your skills are mad and you definitely make others want to do better but mostly, grow A LOT more weed.. omg. can't wait to check out what your up to next..

@Og Gong - If you put out your clones before may 20th without having any supplemental light they will start to flower on you.. I just have a couple tek lights in the greenhouse to stop that from happening.. @Bulldog11 I looked up Logan Labs and it say's they are in Ohio.. I guess I'm gonna go get a couple cups of soil and send it in mail to the lab in the next couple days..

I'm thinking of getting a 30 x 60 foot light dep greenhouse that is 15 feet tall..... I am gonna check farm tek.. The hydro store I normally go to has a pretty good deal for one but if anyone has a good brand they like let me know...

Make sure you read how to take samples. Long story short, use a plastic bucket. Collect soil from 5-10 different spots mixing in the bucket as you go. Then take 2+ cups and send it in. The purpose is to take a sample that best represents your soil as a whole, and pulling from more than one spot will help with this.

Logan labs is the best because they use Albrecht's base cation saturation ratio's.

Rented a tractor to transplant all of our bamboos into the ground and also install a rhizome barrier so they don't spread. The backyard was super soft and we got it stuck and had to call the guy to come get it out ( he was super awesome and busted out the whole job for us in about an hour. ) the bamboo place quoted us 7500$ . We got it done by ourselves for around 3000$

First I bet my buddy 100$ to eat it.. He said hell no..Then we had that same conversation about trying to catch a massive fish with it... We thought about freezing it until we went fishing but I didn't really want that ugly thing in my freezer..
