This is going to be where I document my adventure on my 10 acres of virgin forest land.I hope to buy a camera soon and will be posting pictures of my efforts. Hope to have a garden in and will put up pics of that as well. I also plan on doing some old school outdoor breeding.

So far I am still working on getting the fallen trees off the road. I had my old saw in the shop over a month now and can`t get all the needed parts so got a newer Husky 350 and picked up a used trash pump while i was there. Water will be one of my first problems to tackle. I`ve been told it has a spring on the upper side of the property and maps show two small creeks in the area but I`m thinking of putting in a water tank on the upper level of the property. If I can`t devert water to it then I`ll need to truck water in to keep it full until I get a well in. But first the road in needs cleaned up and scraped. Later I hope to put some gravel down. The road is about 2 1/4 mile from Forest Service gravel roads and the property is about 4 miles in from the paved road.

I plan on putting in about 48 clones/teens in a raised bed with hoop greenhouse to be built over them along with a vegi garden and maybe some fruit trees this year.I`ll make a pad for my trailor and maybe a cover. An Alaska septic for now is all. I will have a generator for power and maybe a small solor unit for the 12 volt system on the trailor with an inverter for power. This year`s goal will to just have a summer place and come back next year and make it more habitable, maybe year round at some point.

i started to go up the hill to work on my property this morning when i got a call from my crew. They left some food in the tent along with all the tools and came down the mountian to wait out a thunder storm. They went back up ahead of me and reported a bear got in the tent and made a mess of things.Everything was ok but the food and the tent which was torn to bits. I desided to wait until tomarrow and just go get some more supplies. Pick up a tent and some camping equipment for them, also a 150 gal tank to fetch water with. just need the hoses for the pump which are ordered. looking into a larger water tank for the water supply but need to get in and put a pad for it first. If the spring is to small or dryed up I`ll still be able to fetch water to fill it. Soon as I can get things cleared and the water in I`ll pull the trailor up and start on the garden area.

Well woke up today and heading up the hill but now there are winter weather warnings. Thunder showers in the valley and snow and wind at 3500 ft thurogh Sunday morning. Said to carry chains above 3500 ft. I think the property is about 2800 ft. These storms are killing me! I need that road done and water and garden space worked up ASAP! I think I`ll go up for the day and see what I can get done. I`ll have to be back to feed my pets tonight. I`d be able to stay the night but no room for the dog this trip.I`d like to go up for a day or two at a time because it costs me around $40 gas each trip. More I can stay, the more I can get done.

Well it looks like rain off an on for the next week. I went up and dumped off some supplies and took a look at things. I think I`m ready to have the road done to the second landing where I`ll put the trailor in and use as a staging area. Soon as that`s done and it stays clear for a few days it will be time to pull the trailor up. Still need some supplies brought up and will be looking this weekend for a generator. Some of the plants are there in pots and bags under the brush for now.The bear came back again last night after I left. He`s a pain in the Ass! Going to have to run him off at some point.Looks like I won`t be able to get my trailor in for at least a week or more. Even if the road gets done it will be raining so much we won`t be able to get much done.Dam is this Feb. or is this the end of May? These storms keep messing me up!

Hey mark, dont stress so hard your first season. This year is what it is: setup. Do the best you can and get things in place for an early year next year.

Everything will work out mark. The weather will pass and bless you with some good sunny days. Take your time get what you can get done and go with it. I got faith in ya. You got time to pull off a grow. Remember this is just the beginning and should only get better and easier down the road. Make the best of it

Got ahold of the guy who is will be working the heavey equipment and meeting him in the morning. Tuesday I pick up the hoses for my trash pump. I can`t get some stuff going because of the rains but seems that just leaves more time to work on other things.I`m going shopping for some more supplies Monday or Tuesday so I`ll see if I can pick up a new digital camera.

Forward Ho! Glade to hear from you Urbangrowths! Hope all`s well with you! On my first cup of joe and getting ready to go up the hill for a meet with the equipment operator. Lets get that road in to the second landing and get my trailor up near the property so I can get to work for real!

OK Disapointed and excited at the same time. The equipment operator grew up in the area,he logged the whole area years ago. He took me to the bottem of the road I was working on then took me to the place I had set up camp on the first landing. The top of my property is 20 ft over the down hill side of the landing. There is a better road in to my property 50 yards down the road. It`s much less slopped, faces south and the spring is an other 50 yards in.The road that needs cleared is in much better shape and has nearly no trees down over it.Just light brush. There may be an older trailor back there. May also have an old jeep and a VW Bus. Both on my property. It`s going to storm but when that`s over It will take just a few days to clear in.I got water, southern exposer, and its very mildly sloped at the bottem.I had been all around my property and didn`t know it.We came up from the bottem through his nephews property. His nephew owns the 40 acres in front of me.

Yes but all that time and work for nothing,I could have been in by now. I should have never listened to the last owner I got the place from,he had no Idea how to get in. The couple that owned the land before him were friends of the guy I choise to work the equipment for the road. They lived in a trailor there with there two kids until there kids became sick from drinking the water, which has parisites, then they moved out and sold the place. I`m thinking of developing the spring and pumping it up the hill into a tank and then a purifyer before having it come down to a place across the way from the spring. Even so won`t use the water to drink or cook with without boiling it first.I should have it tested. Just like a well, a spring can become contaminated. A good bleaching can clean it upsometimes. The area is also full of dear ticks in the tall grasses and ferns. It has wild flowers though and is quite nice.It has red mountian soil that`s full of forest compost and will need soil amendments.I`ll have to truck in loads of soil ,worm castings and better compost. And it still has that bear that wasn up at the top camp to contend with. It`s prediseser ripped off the trailor door looking for food at one point.First time my pitbul,Bruit gets ahold of him he will bite that bear`s ass! He knows no fear!

you can get a chlorinator and then you can at least bathe without having to worry about getting sick

bears dont like barking dogs - just that alone is enough to run em off sometimes

them bears will pull the door of a full sized pickup for a pack of gum

sounds like a cool project in any case

good luck bro
