Happy to hear that you are seeing an improvement based on something I said! I do pull some fan leaves here and there, and definitely do some skirting of the lower canopy after the top fills in, but I try to space my canopy properly to avoid the need for major fan leaf removal. Congrats on the big expected jump in yield!Just wanted to stop by and say thanks. It's because of you that I didnt pull any fan leaves this run and man it really makes a difference, I'm on point to pull 1.5 a light or more this run and that's a big jump from 1 per light for me. Thanks agian and keep up the killer work.
Hey D1esel, I have never used the Hydroponic Research line and don't know much about it or it's price range so I can't comment other than to say if it seems to be keeping your plants healthy then I would stick with it, nothing is cheaper than the nutrients you already have. My plant spacing is based on my square table/tray, so I would like to have 1, 4, 9, or 16 plants in a tray to keep a square spacing pattern. I would prefer to have it running just 6 flowering plants total, so it could be a model for personal medical grows, but I just tried running 3 plants per tray and did not like the way the canopy filled out. Putting more plants in might allow for a slightly higher yield or shorter veg time, but also requires more space for veg that I rarely have available and a higher overall plant count. Obviously, if this plant were completely unrestricted and plant count was not a concern, I would run 16 or even more plants per tray to cut veg times down to almost nothing so veg space would not be an issue. Great question, I hope my answer made sense, thanks for reading through the log! Thanks for stopping by my noob not boob diary! I have a question... I have been reading this for a couple days and I have identified some things I "noobed ".so....hydroponic research veg+bloom, your nutrient knowledge eclipses my own, I am just using it...nothing else.the girls look healthy but what do I know....there is a thread on it, curious if you had any input. One more thing, the spacing on your plants, 4 plants per table, better health/yield than adding 1 or 2 more? Maybe you only wanted to run 8.... thank you in advance and everyone else for their contributions!
Thank you very much babyhughie! I use a point and shoot Canon PowerShot SD870 IS Digital ELPH.not sure if ive asked you this.. What kind of camera do you use meeks?? those pictures are absolutly beautiful.. is it a dslr??
Thanks BH, I am very proud! I think it will be some super fire when its finished, the smells are insane right now! So skunky I have to plan out when I will work in there because I have to air off or change before going anywhere else. Once I touch the plants I am pretty much on house arrest for the rest of the night because even soap and hot water can't get rid of the smell!Your plants look amazing man, you really should be proud . Hope it ends out to be ultra bomb cause it def looks A+
I know I will check your thread more often cause I'm def impressed
BH
thank you for the kind words and for the spacing info, I am growing "medical" for my wife and myself, i wont jack your thread with questions for me,lol .I think i saw the search button on my keyboard here somewhere.....I truly wish there was smell-a-vision....awesome!!!Thanks BH, I am very proud! I have answered a ton of questions throughout my grow logs here on The Farm so the search feature might get you pretty far, but if there is ever anything you don't understand, or can't find, I am always happy to answer to the best of my knowledge/experience. Sometimes you will even get a different answer out of me if you ask something I have already answered, depending on what I've been focusing on recently in my classes. Thanks EOS! Always glad to hear when someone is viewing the thread in its entirety, it's turned out to be quite a show! The covers on my hoods are called 'Heat Shields' and they are designed to insulate the hoods better to maximize the air cooling effect and reduce the thermal footprint of the lights if viewed from above.Killing it Meeks, things always looking proper out of your garden, things are stacking up nicely, just skimmed through your whole thread and I'm always impressed by your room, trellis, and skillz.. Keep up the good work..
Is that infrared blockers on your hoods?
Thank you so much Ken! I have been spending too much time just staring, instead of working, while I'm in there this whole month! Seriously sexy ladies, absolutely covered in trichomes and rock hard! Like you said, total bud porn, which explains why my camera was so sticky after :snaphappy:, hahaha. And yessir, 2.5gal black plastic nursery pots with a drip system running 3x a day at the moment. I mentioned a while back that I was going to try and reduce my container volume each grow until I saw a negative result in yield or plant health. I used to always run 7 gal pots in flowering, but was not happy with the cost of media when I knew I could grow 40 foot long tomato plants in 1/10th that much! I reduced down to 5gal last run, and was bummed to see yield reduced with it, but I blamed other factors for that and continued on to use #3 nursery pots this run. Clearly the yield on this run is going to be more than alright, so I think I might stick with this size for a second run before going smaller, but at some point I would like to be growing in just coco slabs!Meeks! Those flowers are insane! Total Porn!!
That grow is a 10 for sure! It doesn't get any better than that!
2 1/2 gal pots!?! And the room is awesome..
Guys like you, are why beginners like me, come to these forums! (and stare for hours)
Thanks for being here and sharing!
Thanks hightide!Good stuff Meeks!
I will have to try that next time for sure! Thanks for the tip and the very kind words! There are a couple of grow logs that really trigger my envy button.......yours is certainly one of them!
A little tip I've learned along the way. Put some toothpaste in the palm of your hand, add a little water and rub a dub dub. Gets rid of the resin and your hands smell minty fresh;)

Good potting substrates have an extra high water holding capacity and increased porosity to allow for healthy plant growth even without wide open field growing conditions. At a certain point there will be negative impacts on growth if the container is too small for the root system, but that is why I plan on reducing size in increments until I reach that point. The limiting factor is most likely going to be water, because I will have to irrigate more and more frequently with smaller pots and it may take a little while to dial in.There you go making me think again...lol besides cost, why smaller baskets? Wouldn't that reduce root growth or do you feel there is wasted media? I am using 1gallon smart pots, seeing your beautiful ladies has me questioning if I should go up a pot size. I had better just get through this one first...thank you for all of your help.
Thanks BudMuncher, if it's possible I swear it looks even better in person! The fade is really set in now and I think I will chop down the first plants tomorrow!Killin it Meeks!! Looks fire!
Thanks for the positive vibes EOS!Nice so it adds cooling and helps the thermal print from infrared readings.. Nice need to look into them.. Keep up the good work.. Check back wit u later.. Happy growing..
Hey, I'm gonna try to break your post up, hopefully this works!Hi Meeks - you know I love your work. It is amazing. Your thoughtful posts and responses to questions are much appreciated and your pictures are ridiculous. So I bring my questions to you.
I usually don't change my flowering time once I have the flip set, however I think the plants would continue to flower as long as you maintained a 12 hour dark period during a transition. I might have been thinking about my timers being set to turn the lights on and run irrigation at 8am, but with daylight savings it would now be 9am when all that actually happened.Daylight savings. You said something about changing time for this but I was not sure what you meant. Can you change your flower time gradually (or quickly for that matter) if you would like to change your on/off time during the day?
Regarding something unrelated to my question below you once said: “The easy concept to understand how to keep your plants happy is that they like consistency (hopefully in the ideal range), and you already know that.” To me it seems natural that plants need conditions to stay within parameters but is it not possible that fluctuation within those parameters is better than consistency? With the RDWC folk, it seems the good growers allow their ph to fluctuate. What do you think about ph fluctuations in coco?
Is there some easy method of mixing salts that you are aware of other than manually?
Jack said he popped 1000 OGR seeds before he found a true keeper. What are your thoughts on that?
A while back you said you do not use rooting compound for clones. Why not and do you recommend this?
I like to start my flush two week before I start harvest, and I usually harvest over the course of a long weekend, so some plants go more like 17 days without nutrient input. When I say 'flush', I am no longer recharging my reservoir with nutrients after filling it up to the top when it is getting low. That means for the first 5-6 days there is still some amount of nutrients in the solution I am watering with, but it is being diluted rapidly each time I refill the 20 gallon tank with just RO water. I will also hand water (just RO) the volume of the container to each plant twice during this 2 week time, once at the beginning and then again a week in.Would you mind providing some details regarding your flushing method/timing during the grow?
I believe I saw that most recently you are watering during heavy flower three times a day. That is during the lights on right? Do they drink much during lights out?
Just dry salt nutrients. You are getting these awesome results with nothing but nutrients right? No banana extracts or molasses or anything other than nutes?
I think you take the cake PDX, thanks for posting this in the log, I am happy to answer questions! Let me know if you have any other questions because these were all good ones that I had not talked about directly. And of course, thanks you very much for the kind words!I have not seen anyone else ask this many questions in one post. So I have that going for me.
Thanks again for everything. Peace.
Shit, Thanks Jeezer! :cool:Meeks great fuckin work bro!!! Every single shot is amazing!
