Mikedin’s solo plant 4x4 tent

Hello all! So being as my 4x4 tent is turning into a project of its own I figured I would give it a dedicated grow journal so let’s get to it!

Strain: Growers choice seeds candy kush auto (plant did not autoflower and was vegged for 3 months and is currently on day 27 of flower)

Tent: cheap zazzy 4x4x78” tent
Lights: 2x KingLED 1500’s
Exhaust: spiderfarmer 4” exhaust and carbon filter
Medium: fox farms strawberry fields with added dry amendments (coast of Maine)
Neuts: currently only flower fuel once weekly I believe she has some nitrogen toxicity as I’m seeing some undercurling and clawing in a few leaves but for the most part she is a happy girl
Planter: 5gal fabric pot
And A happy amount of great white shark myco


Upgrade on its way, ended up choosing the @PhlizonGrowLight FD6500that will around here around the 5th of January and will swap out

HPS may be in this tents future as well, I plan to start running LED during the summer and swapping to HPS/MH during winter starting next winter, I’ll gather up the HPS kit over the summer and have it ready… or maybe I’ll need another tent

This tent will be a consistent solo plant tent , next run will most likely be a runtz strain, I’ll have to find out the breeder as a buddy is bringing me 2 of his extra seeds I’ll swap for some Barney’s Farm Cookies Kush seeds I have. So as soon as seeds are in my hand one will be going directly into its first pot current plan is solo cup, 1gal plastic pot, 3 gallon pot then finally to a 7-10 gallon pot so I can really maximize the 4’x4’ in this tent, the FF6500 is rated to flower a 5x5 to 6x6 so I’ll happily put it in the 4x4 and make sure that the solo plans that live in here get the absolute best conditions they can any new ideas or testing will be done in this tent before I implement the idea into the 4x8 tent in my other grow journal, that journal will now be dedicated to the 4x8 and FC-8000 powering that tent. This log will probably most likely also house the homemade tent project that will be getting one of the king LED 1500’s to itself as well as the solo plant for the next run in the 4x4 to start vegging out

So what started as a homemade tent has progressed to here currently

Not currently no. I ended up going with the phlizon FD6500, I’ll be trying HPS during next winter by the time I get everything set up this year I’d be taking them back out to switch back to LED’s for the summer. The 4x4 tent is in a bedroom with a homemade 3x5 tent that has some clones I’m trying to root as well as a decent sized monstercropped clone. I do have a space heater running in there to keep it 64 minimum. Lowest I’ve seen recorded on the hydrometer in the tent is 61f At night, when the furnace is running it stays nice and warm but 90% of the time I heat my home with wood stoves so the basement dosent get any heat. She needs more light desperately haha I moved her there to get her out of the flower tents when I flipped , haven’t decided hon her fate yet. She may stay in the homemade tent, or I may veg her for the next 3 months into a monster and see if she will take a move to outdoors in spring lol she’ll need to be uppotted from the 3gal pot but it’s one option for her, unfortunately the monstercropped clones in the 4x8 as well as that single one in the homemade tent where given to me from my brother in laws best friend who was killed a few weeks ago. My brother in law grew one set outside over the summer and I got the clones from his buddy late in the summer and I’ve been vegging them ever since the ones in the 4x8 just flipped to flower

He had multiple strains, 2 of them are monstercropped clones off flowering plants, he had a Cinderella 99, a white widow and a strain he only knew as a Congo strain is what he called it so really no idea I believe it’s something he’s kept around for quite some time, I have a good idea on one of them being the Cinderella 99 but besides that the rest could be any of them. Either way I commited to grow them out so my brother in law can smoke his buddies strain one more time so fingers crossed no more issues lol. These are the plants that that I picked the clones off of one was over 9’ tall we had to pull it all the way down to the ground and the chutes where still near 5’ high lol from they where all outdoor

The 3 plants closest to the camera are all the clones they’ve vegged for about 4 months I took the clones on September 6th, took about a month to root and start to re-veg

This was in October after they got up potted from their solo cup homes lol look at that re-veg go! Lol

Was my first attempt at cloning and… my dumb ass goes and does monstercropped clones haha, those 4 are the survivors of 12 clones that I started with, the candy kush I have in the solo tent was supposed to be a autoflower… she didn’t auto… so she went 3 months just vegging out like crazy lol hence why she has a 4x4 almost filled by herself lol, so I took 6 clones before I flipped the tent… guess the clones didn’t catch the hint from their mother plant lol

Looks like some preflowers on freshly rooted clones so the candy kush is the last of her run at my home lol here is what the candy kush came out after my 2nd run if it so I have one plant running, and I wanna beat what I produced before

Here’s some pics of the candy kush under the same blurples but this plant is gunna get a light upgrade as well as what they looked like when they did autoflower on the last 2 runs not even 1/3 of the size this plant currently is lol

Treat them well and they will do the same for you! They are on the ground now in 5 gallon buckets too big lol.

I gotta say… I’m not one to hate on blurple lights at all, they’ve carried me through 2 and a half grows so far and have made it so I have never bought store sold bud, but you can’t see Jack Shit in your tent and pics are horrible lol but they produced this for me on my first 2 grows,

These pics are all past runs with the same lights just the leaf pics are the current plant in the 4x4

So went into the tent today and was looking at these leaves that where looking like they where dying, pulled one out, she might have a little def but then under a flashlight.. it appears that’s not brown it’s purple, god I can’t wait till the new lights get here lol,

I expected some of this run of plants to turn purple as most rooms are dropping to about 62f at night, took the best pics I could of the leaf with a flashlight but still hard to see it but then saw the purpling on the back too lol

If I can get the hydro to work well I’ll upgrade the whole 4x8 to it next, this 4x4 I’m considering my experiment tent with the goal of wall to wall coverage on every run and with its own FD6500 to power I want to make a 1 lb goal per run in that tent… and once I beat that I’ll up the stakes lol but I’m sure that’ll take me some time to get to lol

Due to the conditions I worked through for the past 2 weeks through the holiday and blizzard I was awarded 4 extra days PTO tacked onto my weekend starting immediately, so that totals to the next 9 days off including today lol. So I’m happy as hell instead of work this morning I’m out back behind the house with my wife watching the ducks hang out in the creek , oh and smokin ofc

Next to the tents, 4x4 will be getting a full dose of flower fuel, cal-mag, and some myco

Well surprise surprise look what showed up early lol, the 4x4’s newest upgrade the @PhlizonGrowLight FD6500 I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to install her, brother in law Will be by to assist, don’t wanna drop it on the plant in the scrog net, she’s a heavy light but mostly awkward to hang by myself, I could do it but it’s a risk so why take it lol

I did plug her in and test it lights up no issues no scratches only kept it lit for a minute but all LED’s are lit up

While looking around in the tent I saw a few leaves that where discolored but it sucks to try and diagnose something under blurple lights lol, it’ll be nice when the new light is up tomorrow, anyways back to little candy kush, pulled 2 leaves that where about halfway from normal to discolored, I’d say she is hungry, she’s been being fed only the flower fuel at full strength plus some cal mag and additional myco, so I pulled a few to examine under a flashlight

Well I’m surprised lol, none of the past phenos of this strain I’ve grown have turned purple, I guess this one is it lol, can see the purple forming on the fronts of the leaves but the back is where you can tell

Upgrade complete in the 4x4!
Phlizon FD6500, brought her down to 18” and started at zero on the power and used photone app same as I use with my FC-E8000 in the main tent to set the light and at 18” I turned it up until it hit 820ish PPFD, looked up to see the setting… 35% power this light has massive amounts of power to spare, not to mention its pulling probably 200w less than the blurples were pulling together

and they couldn’t even get over 700PPFD

So without further ado, no more blurple lights in the main tents lol
