Great info. I was trying to get a feel for how old your plants were on this run before you flipped. It seems that the 30 day point is what everyone does but it just seems much earlier than what I am used to. I assume that its been worked out that this is the most efficient for yield and quality. They just seem so small to me.

BTW we share a love of cycling though I have not been able to do it much this year due to a medical condition. Same thing that makes it hard to sleep more than a couple of hours at a time but this is the one thing that helps.

I'd say that it's far from solved when to flip. I just flipped at thirty days because of my own space and needs, but I'm just growing samplers and aiming for 60g per plant, not 120-200.

The 2 Herijuana x Jack 33’s moved up to 1 gallon pots this evening and they and the Citral x Pow 33’s went to the re set up 3x3 veg tent under the 315 cmh phillips 3100k bulb (already had it).

This will give the Black Widow x BLT and Blue Lemon Thai plants some room to stretch out under the 600 blue one more week or so. Then we flip to 12/12 and the Ushio HPS. We will turn on the second lamp when the other veg catches up. And about halfway through the last plants flower cycle we will start new veg plants.

I have not flipped yet. I go 6-7 weeks usually it depends on if a spot in flower is open normally. Im starting over here after running it perpetually 5 years but the root aphids made me stop.

And i too am not riding like i want. I have progressing conditions too. And agree. Weed helps.

Glad you stopped in. :-)

So are you saying you've had like stuff running perpetually, like a few being added and a few removed? (continual grow) or that you were flipping them continually. (start finish/rinse repeat) What do you think caused the root aphids to become such an issue?

Pot soaked in warmed coconut oil, in a double boiler for 3+ hours. Resin comes off the bud, and is infused into the coconut oil. Then that's used in cooking, making gummies, put in capsules, etc.

I should be able to get 4 batches of gummies with that oil, maybe 200+ gummies depending on their size.

Yea buddy, that sounds like a winner. I love using coconut oils for all sorts of foods. I also use it for making shampoos (I make my own dandruff shampoo with coal tar extracts, I've got a seborrheic dermatitis, and hair down to almost my waist, so it's much cheaper.) Coconut oil has natural healing and antifungal/antibiotic properties, really good stuff, I think. I use it for cleaning my sinuses (especially in allergy season) and ears (softens wax) even. I put it in cookies, (not after being in my ears though) and even fry with it sometimes, make brownies, ect.

RSO is such a chore, this is much simpler, and better than butter, I think.

Yeah you need to keep plants in the effective footprint of the light. Not just area but also depth. My 600’s in the blockbusters can bud a plant down about 30” with a loose canopy. So i grow them to fill the space provided. Usually they end up 30” over the pot and 2-3’ wide. Hopefully with 4-6oz dry average on them. ;-)

Yea, not trying to bug you too much, but please give me your "opinion" of what you think "fits" that footprint best, out of the bunch here, and possibly why. (all are in 1 gallons, use that as reference of size). Some are in different stages obviously, but I think your can probably tell where their at. (or perhaps, describe what is lacking)

I think these could have filled out a lot more (it could be done better) on the sides, especially with this better light, and better spacing between plants. Also, maybe keeping it more squat with the lights, I'm certainly not a pro with this. I'm with you on the footprint part, I think pants can be bred around this concept.

Yeah I had been planting a seed or clone every week or two and harvesting the same.

The root aphids remained hidden and because i am constantly removing them and introducing new clean plants it stayed hidden and i thought i was doing something wrong and causing nutrient deficiencies for quite a while.

Then the heat wave this summer came and they just exploded. Even got into the veg tent. I could see them clearly on the edge of the pots when watering and can now see the difference between a fungus gnat and a root aphid flyer. I took care of the gnats but didnt know it. Lol. The bugs all over the yellow sticky cards were aphids at the end.

No sign of them so far using the imid at seedling stage and botanigard after transplants.

Hopefully. ;-)

The whole point is to be able to grow any plant and train it to fit the space. I dont grow plants naturally like christmas trees under lights. Much better to have a candelabra shape. A bush with many tops all in the max light area.

Good to hear, maybe I can learn from that also. I seen a few of my new sprouts, and I remember hearing this. Saw a fruit fly by them (bought in some bananas next to my starts on the counter, and TBH, I think they picked something up from the fruit. I only seen one flyer, but the roots seem to went to hell. (just on my starts) I can't have that kind of crap happen, that would be terrible on top of my mite problems. Their problem enough. I've got like 1500 ladybugs on the way actually.

I'll probably put them out in stages, and keep them in the fridge, use them over a few months if possible, if I can keep them alive that long. I've been putting out P. persimilis every few days on all the plants, and those seem to live in the fridge well, maybe I can get them well established, if I do it in phases.

I never tried it. The one in the ch9 strain is the original from motarebel (woodhorse seeds i think originally). He gave sannie the genetics too.

That's a crazy personal posession limit. My medi-license let's me grow 49 plants and have up to 7 pounds at home and half pound on my person in public. Add to that Canadas legal status, I can also grow an additional 4 plants and give up to an ounce to anyone anytime.
Nice healthy looking plants you've got there though. Thanks for sharing.

When we had that discussion Michigan had not gone rec legal yet. We can keep as much as we can grow at home now. Still 12 plants though. No benefit to the med card now.

Maybe someday Missouri will go rec but until then kinda hiding in the dark ages still they've got med here but still no dispensaries. Been either going to Colorado or having it brought back from Oklahoma from friends with med cards. But also one of the reasons I got back into growing again.

I feel it man. I used to grow the exact same way. 1 big flower room and just move them down the line. After I also battled the borg for like 6 months thinking I could save my clones I killed it all and and shut it down for a couple of months. Since then it's indie rooms and gallons and gallons of bleach in between. On everything. Never going down that path again.

It's def an eye opener and humbling. Makes you feel better after you fig it out thinking "fuck what am I doing wrong?" when it was something you didn't even realize. I had to make it a habit also to pull my plants and moms once a month out of veg and clean clean clean. Im religious about flowers but for some reason I always overlook veg. My calendar pops up 1st of the month on my phone "clean veg you lazy ass."

This is something I am going to remember. I haven't done back to back grows in 20 years. This time though I put money into the rooms and I am going to try all the new strains that I see in the catalog :) I have brewing experience and cleanliness is absolutely key to success so I get the concept. It will be tricky because the veg area is gravel floor. Another issue is I built some structures from wood. I can still wipe down but its obviously not as effective. I did throw up a UV bar and I may add some more. Once I started cycling it even just a couple of hours it smashed the gnat population. Its only good in the flower area.

Yea, it's a lot about becoming complacent also, I suspect. For me, I go full speed for a few weeks, then I let up or take a break (thinking I've got to a good spot, got a handle on things) then bam! Resergence! You can never ease up, it's simply not possible. Either, you need a sterile environment that's completely pest/disease free, or you've got to battle this everyday.

One thing I think I've learned recently from doing this for some time now. If your using predators such as I'm doing, multiple applications, and inoculating multiple sites, repeatedly over and over and over, really helps in the long run.

Doing something once or even a few times, doesn't fix anything, It's got to be routine, it's got to be sustained, and it's constantly needs to be evaulated. Pestilence starts in a small spot, then "explodes" outward from that specific location, after wreaking chaos in that area.

Mites/aphids are a lot like humans. They'll destroy a biologically active area, out of sheer numbers. Then move to greener pastures, to do the same thing, over and over and over, until their populations are unsustainable.

You could always put down some rigid closed cell foam board over the gravel, spray foam seams to seal. They have urethane spray you could use to seal the wood as much as possible as well.

Switched the first 4 plants to 12/12 tonight and put in the Ushio HPS bulb.

They seem happy. I will add the second 600HPS in a day or two.

The Little Herijuana x Jack 33’s (right front/left rear) took the switch to the veg tent great despite being transplanted to 1 gallon pots recently.

But the Citral x Pow 33’s (left front/right rear) drooped bad by the end of the first cycle under the 315 cmh.

I tried dimming and distance but tonight at lights on they looked bad.

They were not quite dry. I would have left them another day but they got the heavy dose of Botanigard just under a week ago. They looked good before but maybe the uv in the cmh or the fuller spectrum or both were too much on the treated plants. Thats my theory so far.

So i watered to good runoff to see what would come out. Both were .6 ec and 6.2 ph. Pretty normal. But they have not grown like the first plants and have nutes left over. So I poured more water only through until almost only water was left. At .4 ec (my well water is .3) i started giving a new mix of 2.5 ml protekt and 5 ml foliage pro and 1 ml ph down. This is 1.1 ec and 6.3ph. I poured until .9ec and 6.2 ph came out. Close enough. No need to mix more.

Both plants started to relax diring the water only stage. Hopefully they will recover soon. Really just guessing what the problem is. Dont like when things happen over night.

Oh well. Here they are now.

Here they were when they got bad.

I rotated their positions since old pic.
