it is....i was having mag def before, now i dont. im not cutting it out no matter what anyone tells me. plus, i cut the micro towards the end and the cal mag has enough N to get me to the finish line.

DS

look, all im saying is this....you arent buying a light or an AC unit....where your savings are going to be in the hundreds/thousands.

you guys are talking about a yearly savings of $100-200 max with a decent size room. thats not enough for me to change a product that i know for a fact works. its not like this is a base nute that you are going to burn through in 1 month.

im sure everything youve said is 100% true....im sure the other products are exactly the same. i trust your judgement, you obviously know your shit.

however, this thread is titled "is MOAB worth it" the answer is 100% yes. it IS worth it. is there a cheaper alternative? apparently, YES, but thats not what this is about. i havent tried any of the other boosters you suggest, therfore i cant/wont comment on them. all i know, from my personal experience, is that MOAB/hammerhead works much better than liquid/powder Koolbloom.

One of the best profiles i have ever ran is a GH profile given to me by my boy spur...

No need to boost this profile, run it veg till flush and watch in amazement....

Hope you like...

Here is a thread featuring it as well:

just to clarify....thats 25% more cal-mag and not 1/4% calmag correct?

so no boost, just start to finish? seems easy and cheap to me.

any change if using RDWC?

you just use the blue column correct?

spurr profile

A profile pretty close to the Spurr GH mix is actually 1-part CNS17 hydro grow (NPK = 3-2-4), which can be had as cheap as $60 for 5 gallons.

Spurr is:
N 140
P 52
K 182
Ca 127
Mg 67
S 38

while
Botanicare CNS17 Hydro Grow (3-2-4)
@15mL/Gal
N 136.5
P 39
K 151.5
Ca 127.5
Mg 22.5
S 49.5

Seems just a little low on Mg and K. Add Mg with epsom at about 2 gram/gallon. Addition of 2-3 mil /gallon Pro-tekt silica (0-0-3) boosts K up and has it's own benefit, but will raise pH-- so the addition of phosphoric pH down will contribute some ppm of P, and things will match very well, although the addition of epsom will imbalance the S from the Spurr target. Is there another cheap source of Mg that won't alter other macro nutes?? Mag oxide ?
Total cost here is gonna be real cheap. Protekt can be had at ~$150 / 5 gallon, so total cost per gallon (using 15 ml cns17 hydro grow, 2 ml Pro-tekt) is like ~6.5 cents per gallon (if bought in 5 gallon size) + cost of epsom (lifetime supply can be had for ~$20) and pH down..
100 gallon rez changed weekly for 10 weeks for less than $70, which is about the cost of .. use your imagination:icon_animal26:. Not as cheap as mixing everything on your own from scratch, but pretty good for a simple mix.
Results that desertsquirrel shows in the linked thread speak for themselves...

Yeah the blue, and yeah on the 25% (5-7ml depending on strain).

RDWC i would cut all levels in half and look to bring them up to 3/4ths Durring stretch. The key to knowing when to drop back to 1/2 is when excessive water transpiration slows.

I have been down this road and it dint work as well in the UC as it did on paper =).

Here is a PBP, CNS, H&G side by side:

And thanks man.

certainly amazing UC grow it that thread.. so you ran a 16 site system with the CNS17 grow for the duration? If the results differed from what you've seen with the Spurr profile using GH, what do you think was the cause (as the profile seems real close)? something lower quality about the reagents used in the CNS17? or maybe the profile is not as DWC friendly ?

140 ppm N is too high for me!

I run 110-115 N in most cases. 140 ppm of N would have my plants truly freakshow amazon green......39 ppm of P....nice and low for me in flower.......DS I love your lower than my 39 ppm Phosphorus grow!

Does an olympic athlete eat one or one combination of healthy foods and swear by it as a secret to thier success? NOPE. I like MOAB as part as my ladies complete breakfast but cheaper nute mixes like koolbloom....also are awesome if used right in the right conditions.....I like to feed my shit a mix of about every organic ya can imagine plus some powdered shit.....I can used about any fert to grow good smoke from walmarts to the top dollar....but some are a lot easier n more user friendly to get the sticky we want....

Lately inside and outside I use maxigrow a lot for veggin me veggies! Shits easy money 1/4tsp/g for trans 1/2 for early 1 full blown hardcore...shit I just top dress my mommas with a teaspoon twice-thrice a weeeeeeeeeeek. The cuts I plan to blow up in the nft in a 20 oz cup I keep pretty sterile use a tweaked sorta lucas formula.....but I run a sea and I very rarely change my active res unless I fuck up I want all my moneys worth.....I've found 5mlflora bloom/1ml floramicro per 1 foot of plant per week in my set up to be about dead nuts to what the babes love....every two weeks at rotation of my cycle I give them a bit of moab or koolbloom but less than 1/4 reccomended if that...my nft feeds 24/7 and very oxygenated its different....I used to watch ppms n ph now I trust the leaves more....meters are like training wheels imo......but I maintain 1800-600 and 5.6-5.9 depending on when I test at what water level n shit....like reef tank eh?lol......

Anyway MOABS great I really like it outside but in my opinion with all chem nutes less is more......I also give my mothers a taste of it once in a while...surprising how much a plant vegged long term loves a lil bloom food every couple months.......

peace

We love our chili. You like yours best if into making it. Maybe not. Still you think other peeps chilis damn good even impressive at times then again at times ya say wtf how do these folks even call this chili....I can cook up a POT o chili! lol

sticky assn fingers blue skies n red eyes....off to the races early as usual.....

have a kick ass day Sky vibe'n for ya......

I am more then a little certain that a few people posting here have a vested interest in the sale of MOAB.

BTW the B1 molecule is to large to be up-taken by the rhizosphere Maestro.

you know a year ago or whatever...most swore by MOAB...now most have an attitude about it...at my hydro shop in sacramento he can hardly keep it in stock...Me personaly I love it. I hit 2lbs a light with casey useing it. I dont care where the hype goes, its cheap and works...there might be other stuff that works better....but when i find shit that works ill stick with it for a while.

give it another 6 months and whatever product every is braggin about now they'll be callin garbage on onto the next.
