Do use one per system or one in each module? If you do use one per system do you add a pump in your head bucket as well or just let the current do its thing? How much water is in your system? Thanks Cap.

Hello there All4free, (hehe..sorry to be a little off topic here)... When I first looked at your avatar a few days ago, I couldn't make out what the picture was. Thought it was a cat, some kind of sweater, your shoulder, some type of fur or your orange hair/head... Didn't know what happened today, maybe it was the smoked lol, after deliberating for a good twelve minutes, I FINALLY realized it's plant root???!!! HAHHAHA

I use one 12" stone in each module. No air pump in the main res, got a couple waterfalls there form the return and the chiller. my system holds around 130-150 gallons.

Go with the UC, or build your own UC its really not hard at all.. I had a thread here detailing what u needed and where to get everything to build one but thcfarmer "lost" my thread when they upgraded their server...If you have any questions about the UC send a pm or ask in my thread in capulators bennies thread...My thread name is miss titled: Need help with caps bennies in UC (long story) but i do updates atleast once a week with pics their...

There are far to many parts in the MPB.. Like TK said thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours building it and very minimal difference in rate of growth and quality, if any compared to the UC... Plus less things can go wrong in a UC...

I started growing in a UC... Never even grew a house plant before and i had excellent results my first grow and ever since... I did do my homework though i read hundreds of pages here before i attempted building it and growing in it though... Dont let anyone tell you its to hard or to try soil first n discourage you from hydroponic gardening.. It seems you have done your homework and know enough to get started... Take the leap, and dont look back or second guess yourself..

Airstones are over rated. :) Quit using them a long time ago. Wouldn't dare do that in a UC system though. But in an mpb system, water is always draining from the top and returning straight back to the main rez. Gas exchange happens on top of the water, not within. The oxygenated top layer of water is constantly returning to the main res for redistribution, allowing the lower layers to rise up and oxygenate at the surface. The only reason airstones help at all is by creating some current to help stir water around. I have done tests with dissolved oxygen meters and found no difference in my system with and without airstones.

In a UC system water is constantly moving from the bottom of one bucket to the bottom of the next bucket in line. Also water temps vary greatly from the front row buckets to the back row buckets. This is not the case with MPB as MPB tubs are all fed directly from the main rez.

Sorry for the hate.

Your information on the UC is not correct... The plumbing is on the bottoms of each bucket, however once the water circulates through all the buckets it is returned to the TOP OF THE EPICENTER BUCKET... This completely circulates all of the water in the system... Also your water temps shouldnt be any different from the front bucket to the back bucket.. If it is it pry means your UC water pump is to small and isnt circulating the water fast enough, ideally your system should circulate about 8 times per hour... Maybe that is the reason your DIY UC failed??

Thanks so much for all the wonderful info. I'm six weeks into flower on current 5Gal circulating buckets and will be diving into the UC very very soon.
Oh, thank you for your kind offer babyhughie586, I sure will look up that thread and may just take up your offer if I need additional help building one.

@babyhughie586, Here's the link

First grow for me. It looks awful, (no where near compared to your first grow... your roots are massive on the bennies UC thread! ) hopefully i'll do better next run. If you don't mind my asking (so I can research a lil less lol) what exactly are"bennies" and what does it do?

bennies is just a shorter word for beneficial bacteria... Capulator, a forum moderator here actually makes the bennie packs and then sells them through his website.. He is extremly helpfull and full of knowledge... im not an expert on them but i can tell you they help grow roots faster and stronger and reduces the chance for algae and pests to invade your hydro system/soil...

I consider them like a root zone conditioner... Most people choose to run a "sterile" system which means they use a chemical such as Dutch master zone, Cultured solutions roots or H2o2... Using these products will kill all of the bad stuff in your water like algae and micro elements that will be harmful to your roots... these products are similar to how people use chlorine in their pool, they use the chlorine to keep all the nastyness out of the water...

The beneficial bacteria/bennies is the complete opposite, using the bennies are considered to be running a "alive" system, meaning that the bacteria multiplies and and kills all of the bad stuff.. After killing it, it turns the dead stuff into food for the roots.. Think of the multiplying bacteria the same way as when you get sick with a stomach flu.. The first few hours you wont feel as bad but as the bacteria multiplies in your system you will start to get sicker and sicker... Another good thing about the bennies is i have learned that they work very good in warmer waters 68-72degrees... It is almost impossible to keep your whole system "sterile" with dm zone or the others if your water temps are in the 70s... This was the main reason i made the switch to the bennies and im sure happy i did..

I have seen a unbeliveable difference in using the bennies.. I plan on using them forever... I have been recomending them to all of my friends...

Sry that post was so long..

Yes but i will not be allowed to post the link in this forum for 2 more weeks. hang tight. i also have a very interesting thread coming up in a couple weeks. atleast 4 lb kind of interesting ;)
Dude!!! Enough with the TALK!!! Their is no one that wants to see this system and your plants more than me, I have followed your big money grows that all ended in failure, if you indeed do have a system that you claim to have whats stopping you from posting a pic or 2 of it???All im asking for is one pic of a nice plant you grew in this wondersystem... Youve been talking about this thread that your going to make for 4-5months and your 3lb, o wait now its your 4lb plants... Im seriously beginning to doubt you... Please prove me wrong, but i think your full of shit...

I wouldnt have a problem with your BS nkrmally but when you go out of your way to share misinformation about a system that you obviously know nothing about, that gets me angry...

And to even think about putting a guarantee on a yield that your so called system will produce proves to me and hopefully everyone else that you are delusional and are clueless.. Everyones strains/environment/lights/time people spend taking care of their plants/ and overall knowledge are all different.. You cant GUARANTEE ANYTHING when growing cannabis... Now go ahead and take that foot out of your mouth and post a pic or 2

Very nice... however what the hell are you thinking with those cheapass batwing reflectors lol.. those top buds are no bigger than ones ive grown.. I really hope your not trying to say thats a 4lb plant... Atleast u posted a pic though its more than i thought u would do... I will pull my foot out of my mouth and apologize though... i never thought i would see a successful pic of a grow of yours lol...

It is without a doubt a nice looking plant... I dont think you'll hit 4lbs off it though.. looks more like a 2-2.5lb plants to me... Honestly though why lie telling applepie that this system will cost the same as a undercurrent?? those buckets alone will cost over $150 a piece

Best I could do on short notice. Plant is only in 5th week. It measure 72 inches in diameter and I have not measured the height but should be around 6 feet. There is a peny in the top cola to give you perspective. I will try to get a better copy of this photo tomorow. I plan to harvest this plant on camera to prove its weight.

WOW!!! That means I only have to grow 2 to 4 plants! Whoo Hoo!!!!! Cant wait till I see your thread and the components that's needed for your system.
