I use one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALITA-Cylinder-Air-Stone-Diffuser-12-Length-1-9-Diameter-aqua-pond-hydro-/200735779976?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo=SIC&its=I&itu=UCI%2BIA%2BUA%2BFICS%2BUFI&otn=21&pmod=190833435001&ps=54
But alita makes an air tubing that is self cleaning that is the shit. http://www.alita.com/diffuser/siliconehose.php
Also, there are these that are supposed to work really well and consume almost no power or heat: http://www.amazon.com/rule-Tournament-Series-Aerator-Pump/dp/B00440LZJM
they are for bait tanks.
Do use one per system or one in each module? If you do use one per system do you add a pump in your head bucket as well or just let the current do its thing? How much water is in your system? Thanks Cap.
Hello there All4free, (hehe..sorry to be a little off topic here)... When I first looked at your avatar a few days ago, I couldn't make out what the picture was. Thought it was a cat, some kind of sweater, your shoulder, some type of fur or your orange hair/head... Didn't know what happened today, maybe it was the smoked lol, after deliberating for a good twelve minutes, I FINALLY realized it's plant root???!!! HAHHAHA
Airstones are over rated. :) Quit using them a long time ago. Wouldn't dare do that in a UC system though. But in an mpb system, water is always draining from the top and returning straight back to the main rez. Gas exchange happens on top of the water, not within. The oxygenated top layer of water is constantly returning to the main res for redistribution, allowing the lower layers to rise up and oxygenate at the surface. The only reason airstones help at all is by creating some current to help stir water around. I have done tests with dissolved oxygen meters and found no difference in my system with and without airstones.
In a UC system water is constantly moving from the bottom of one bucket to the bottom of the next bucket in line. Also water temps vary greatly from the front row buckets to the back row buckets. This is not the case with MPB as MPB tubs are all fed directly from the main rez.
Sorry for the hate.

Best I could do on short notice. Plant is only in 5th week. It measure 72 inches in diameter and I have not measured the height but should be around 6 feet. There is a peny in the top cola to give you perspective. I will try to get a better copy of this photo tomorow. I plan to harvest this plant on camera to prove its weight.
