@jipp black magic is their soul to compete with ocean forest. There is a thread here active on it.

And I read Kellogg's patio plus is popular. I would recommend adding large chunky perlite about 20% by volume. Plain perlite. I know your vision is messed up maybe the person in the garden center can read the label.

If you use seedling mix or something like a pro mix with no nutes. You will need a general purpose complete nute about 2-3 weeks after they start making their first leaves.

If you cut black magic or Kellogg's with perlite it should be good for all stages. Just don't overwater. That's why people think ocean forest is too hot.

Sometimes seedlings twist or look uncomfortable for a minute. But they always grow fine.

And if you use a good potting soil ( not one that says feeds for 3 months). That feeds 2 weeks to 30 days you will have good results with minimal added nutes.

And those 1 gallon pots are good for 3 maybe 4 weeks if they are growing well. Then you need a 3 or 5.

i think the soil i have is fine for adults sunshine mix. i just need something for seedlings.
and they do not sell black gold in a s mall bag for seedlings.

but if you think id be better off may be i can swing it..
chris.

morning shots.. starting to get use to there soil
so far i think my healthy seedling would be the one i just pop in teh dirt. hah. i am getting better not quite as purple stem.

yeah vision toast hah. but hopefully today i get a answer or a solution.. im just glad he thinks he can save my vision.. but needs test to prove.. unfortunately he only told my my left eye is swollen in the back of the eye.. so yeah i find out more today.

no water for a few more days.. thank goodness was a pain trying to water every day. hah

chris.

I didn't know you were using sunshine mix. Is the vegetable organic one? Just cut it with perlite. It's fine.

I was not recommending seedling mix. I don't use it. It only sustains them for a week not much more.

But any seedling mix will be mild if you feel you need it. Your problems were just overwatering.

ok ill try to get some untreated perlite today.. i have no clue what i bought as it was in a brown bag. heh..
ill save money then adn not worry about it.. and just pay attention to my watering.. if i still have problems ill try some seedling soil.

They are all too wet man. But they look healthy. Let them dry out for real this time. Likely a few days at least. You want moist airy soil most of the time is the plan.

i think what you are seeing is treated perlite maybe?

i dunno, i waited till dry bone dry honest! and water till came out the bottom of the cup then that was it.

i thought that is what i had to do at this stage.

this is what im using.. so should be fine buy everything iv read.. just hot for seedlings.

chris.

I can't see the label but I am pretty sure there is only a seedling starter charge in that. Good for a week or two max. It's a nuetral medium designed to be fertilized regularly. It's a greenhouse style mix. It also needs no additional perlite. It's ready to go. I wish I saw that. I thought you said you were using potting soil and miracle grow perlite.

If that says aggregate plus it's what you want but will need to fertilize in a week or two in those 1 gallon pots. Sorry for any mis direction on my part bud.

I used pro mix hp before. Same basic thing I think.

I do too now. It has nutes in it huh?

Just made post about the sunshine mix.

so im ok? heh its ok man.

yeah you are seeing two different perliet.. im pretty sure the brown stuff was treated.. the last two solo cups i mix i just did the sunshine soil. ( this is my way of testing the perlite.. but sounds like i do not need it anyhow )

so i should be good for 2-3 wees in 1 gallon pot yeah?
