day 51 flower;
well, I have to honestly say the potency of bubbles is far and beyond anything else I have seen local at despensaries or personal folks or ever seen for that matter. wow just wow. I literally felt this morning as high goofy and giggly as I felt my first time smoking, just have to wander around and giggle high off just one hit! holy cow I'm used to smoking 2 or 3 bowls first thing in the morning today I found myself in the kitchen eating dry cereal out of the box and giggling like a kid. again wow just wow. And the taste is grapey fruity sort of taste with a tang but smooth not harsh. on to that, I the old man have made a discovery, allowing a plant to completely dry before manicure makes it better.I found a branch which was a tester of this to be better stickier and much sweeter as well as less harsh. I now have a new method.
The widow is continuing to evolve in the fall coolness with hot hit or miss sun as well as cool 55 or so deg nights. I am starting to see some purple as well as a strange purplish red here and there bigger buds are starting to get the pop out little side flowers old gals get and indeed she is white it's been a good week for her. according to nirvana, she is a 8 to 10-week flower so I imagine I will let her go till at least until the end of September or later as weather allows.

@gravekat303 @Seamaiden do those small brown buds look like bud rot or do you know someone that is an expert. I have only seen it once but it looks like it to me.
Its the first day 51 flower photo set with the dead leaves in the pot for the first pic.

Absolutely. Caterpillars are a likely culprit unless it's been that humid.

caterpillars, little bastards. good catch dr and sea maiden. now what? there are only a couple of flowers that look infected but with seeds I dare not spray insecticides esp 2-3 weeks pre harvest.

well, I pulled the one other suspect branch off and dowsed her good with a spray wand. I guess I will have to be very watchful.

I found bugs thanks to Dr and the maiden thanks again guys. I just can't bring myself to chop yet as the magic is starting in the last two weeks of this girls life ,,that pretty much is the next 2-3 weeks. I think the caterpillars are coming from the crab apple tree that the shack is under. not sure what to do about that

Bud rot is a fungus with spores and some buds will rot from the inside out when infected. It looks as if some of the other buds are already infected and rotting inside by the telltale brownish grey pistils. A spray mixture of a few teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, a few drops of NON antibacterial dish soap and water in a spray bottle will make it impossible for mold to grow on the outside by spiking the ph but if you have rot in the bud already it will just continue to spread and you can't smoke the affected buds. Bud rot could be caused by a deadly mold spore and if smoked can be harmful or fatal.
I would just chop it now if it were me, bud rot spreads fast, just a few days and the whole plant could be covered in it. Sorry, she was a beauty.

holy shit snacks captain its a sad day for me. I will be taking the widow today at day 53 due to possible bud rot and some kind of silly caterpillar. I wanted to let her go and go but alas today is her day. I will post pics. I assume at 53 days flower she will be great but she would have been 25 % better in 2-3 weeks IMO.
given that I am in a semi-arid climate it is not humidity in the air that is the issue I am postulating that the black out shelter is the culprit, black plastic and no air circulation combined with cool nights did it as well black plastic itself is a fungus magnet. next year I will be changing up the shack with panda film so the inside is white and cleanable. but still this blackout shack idea worked great, lots of work dragging heavy assed plants around but very doable.

day 53 flower;
well after hours of exhaustive research and testing I have determined I do not have bud rot. I have a mom plant that has some brown pistols deep in the buds that are seeded.there was no hint of any mycelium mat or fungus . I literally went over the whole plant inch by inch checking. turns out this gal has a pistol thing where they get stuck in the calyx and as well her dead pistols are brown, not red so the break-off and look like rot from a distance.
so just as a precaution, I harvested the heavily seeded lower branches as well as the 2 worm-eaten ones. I am now certain I just had a couple of random worms on the lowest side shoots. still, I think I will place a portable blackout shelter system on the drawing board for next summer. Durban poison on the horizon I think maybe she is the perfect scrog plant.
lots of pics please have a look and lmk if you see any buggy spots. thanks

day 54 flower;
sorry missed a day it was a fine sunny fall day and the widow is adjusting to her changed light routine. this will test her stability as a mom and encourage any negative phenotypes so they can be weeded out in the mix later.

well starting today we are in the harvest window according to nirvana's info on this strain. indeed she is looking mature but still I am seeing lots of new pistols so we will just let her go and see what she does. definitely more reds and purples starting to come along.
