I wish that were true. The usd has not been linked to gold since Breton Woods in the 70s. It’s why inflation is so high now.

If you really want to get pissed off (and who doesn’t) look into the federal reserve and how money is created. There is a book called creature from Jeckyl island that will illicit about 100 WTFs about how stuff really works.

Oh yes I know this, we've switched from gold to paper and a promise... but it doesn't pisss me off because objectively, gold isn't any more valuable than paper, they're just things we've assigned value to and everyone decided to play along lol. At least paper was once a tree that gave us oxygen, so arguably it's more valuable than a shiny rock. Pretty soon we'll be using clean water and air as currency once we've raped the planet fully beyond repair. Corporate greed, capitalism and insatiable consumerism have resulted in the apocalyptic hellscape we currently live in. I have nihilistic and anarchist tendencies, don't get me started. I smoke a lot of weed so I can exist in this world a little less painfully.
