Yall may laugh but who knows maybe I'm not the only one to have added this to their IPM. Saw an airborne species of unknown origin, stalkin my mimosas soil. Had an ahha moment and went and grabbed my tennis racquet fly swatter/zapper and with 1 swoosh POP! ahh the feelin of knowing you got em. So I left it in tent. Weeks later another dkhead with wings. POP! and more satisfaction. 3 for 3 meow and now I am welcoming them but no comers.
Highly advise if you have a bug zapper swatter you try this out. InstaGratification šŸ¤—

Yeah pretty sure that's what it "was". Fruit fly sized and speed. They are formidable enemies no doubt. I almost wish I had a problem with more so could experiment but I found that the zapper works real well. You could just hold it over the soil 🤣 and invite them to the bbq. In addition maybe let top could inches of soil dry out on top. Also I believe homedawg @Zombierider had success with using wind force to make it tough on them. I bought healthy nematodes and let them die in my fridge ☹ and still feel bad. I have mosquito bits, neem seed meal, neem oil, and 35% H2O2 to work with but no real issues yet. Frequent fert and or wet top soil will surely invite them though

Hmmm wind you say? Might have to try that and get a zapper too.

I didnt notice any at first but then i had an issue with a rootbound plant i transplanted from 2 gal to 5 gal and it hasnt been watered in 3 weeks, shes still damp so ive been trying to get rid of them before it become a real problem. I busted the roots all to hell 2 weeks ago trying to improve things only to make them worse🤣🤣 shes finally coming back around though. Loat prolly 40 leaves, but shes perked back up today. Has been all day so i think i might be on the up now.

are you stoned when you write these lol🤪

Must be if it is that obvious šŸ˜‚ but it isn't really my fault though. I can't be expected to learn to cultivate the herbs and not try them, constantly 🤲🤣
i know i am reading them. and i'm like wtf lol

Yeah you won't regret it. Bet harbor freight has some wicked ones or Amazon if want door to door. As for wind turbulence, Zombie said he had some success with it and it makes sense. If you are able to use a fan or 2 at soil/medium lvl and crank it up a bit, the gnats would likely need to be smokin meth in order to hang. If they are in your soil and have layed eggs, they still can keep coming back. If you have hydrogen peroxide you can safely spray the top soil. Appears pests and their eggs can't cope

So I missed this because I had more than one plant under scrog. I did get 4 ounces each plant dried (first time grow ) bUt I learned alot. And going to grow a single scrog plant in my 3x3. Fill it completely scrogged and see what I can add here in few months !

I've kept them away with wind as well. A pole fan right at base level. Now I also preemptively spray Neem oil in veg.

Yellow sticky traps, direct air and allow your soil to dry out. Cut potatoes into thin slices and place them atop of the soil, remove and replace daily. Why? The larva feeds on it and you just dispose of them. That’s my fix for those nasty lil bastids…

Definitely going to try this as well, i would not have ever considered using potatoes to catch the larva.

Sup Farm/Dojo Famdamly? What it be like out there? Just a little update on Puff the Dark Phoenix. Not sure where she is in veg but I'm gettin a bit impatient at lack of horizontal growth. I guess exposing the main branches to light when and how I did was asking for more node sight growth than I was planning for. I wanted to fill the tent horizontally and what I did was cause the ends of each branch to become bushy. Definitely Tea time and I might just skip the alfalfa SST I was planning and throw straight Triacontanol powder I have to her Dome šŸ˜‚ ahhh shit all fun and games. No clue wtf I'm doin but I find it a bit therapeutic playing around and trying to figure it out. I keep reminding myself the dispensary is the enemy and I will crack the code on my own. You can only spend so many $1000s on PreTenDica that tastes like hay before you fear walkin into their doors like the plague.
I don't have a snowballs chance in hell against all yall seasoned growers in this contest but I might be top 5 or 10 for soil menagerie. Some have garden gnomes, trolls, and other such grow guardians but are they being well cared for? As you see below my blumat system now not only feeds my girl Puff but also my 40-50 year old baby hippo. Might also notice a white ferret. That is Stuart Little and the red marble is his play toy for at night when he gets bored guarding the top soil. Not a single pest yet so I'm not questioning his work ethics. Happy holidays out there peeps and cheers to wishin you all the best from AZ šŸ™

Looking good PT. Nice training. She looks like shes going to blow up during stretch. I was just reading up on sst. I am going to use them next run. āœŒšŸ»
Thanks Mike and I hope you are right.
SSTs are interesting huh? I have a friend back in Chicago that has told me a lot about them. He actually just recently advised I used corn instead of alfalfa at this stage in veg. Have you looked much into Triacantonol or Cytokinins and Gibberellins? Cool shit and seems they are kind of like steroids for plants and can be beneficial in the tight dosages and times

"Chitosan-
Derived from chitin this organic molecule is found in the exoskeletons of crustaceans, from Mantis shrimps to Beatles. Chitosan provides structural support in the hard shells of these animals. It is a vastly abundant biodegradable material with a low molecular weight. When chitosan is applied as a foliar or soil drench to plants it has been found to exhibit PGR qualities. Targeting a plant cells plasma membrane and nucleus, chitosan regulates gene expression and other cellular processes. NASA have also taken interest, experimenting with chitosan to aid plant growth in space! This is because Chitosan has been found to increase photosynthesis, enhance plant growth, stimulate nutrient uptake and aid in seed propagation. Chitosan also has strong anti-pathogenic properties, naturally up-regulating innate defence responses in plants to combat insects, pathogens and soil-borne diseases. Further research has also shown chitosan applications to increase flavonoid and terpenoid production in a variety of resinous plant species.

Triacantonol -
This plant growth stimulant can be found in a variety of natural sources such as alfalfa meal, sugarcane and bees wax. Triacontanol is a "fatty alcohol" and is sometimes referred to as Melissyl or Myrcicyl alcohol. It is non-toxic, environmentally friendly and safe to consume. Research has shown Triacontanol to be a powerful growth stimulant, effecting basic metabolic processes such as photosynthesis, enzyme activity, nutrient uptake CO2 assimilation and much more. In the correct doses Triacontanol significantly increases the amount of chlorophyll in leaves, improving the rate of photosynthesis. Similarly in root systems cell growth is enhanced creating stronger root networks allowing for greater nutrient uptake. Due to its up-regulating qualities many studies have shown the application of triaconantonl as a foliar feed, increased yields dramatically compared to control groups. When applied to mint plants in experiments it has also been found to increase the overall yields and interestingly the mints essential oil content, suggesting similar results could be obtained for Cannabis"

This will work great for me when I get another grow set up in the tent. I've been wanting to work on my tennis game anyways!!! Killing 2 birds with one stone!!! šŸ˜‹

So it been about ten says since discovering the uninvited russet bastards. Im not sure if it was the Dr. Zymes, or the Killer šŸž, but Fingers crossed, the epoxy og might just finish. She still looks a ways out, and slacking compared to the other strains, Im think atleast another 4 weeks???
