thats the kit I got. and newts were gonna be my next question since everything i read says ten thousand things about them but someone had suggested using this. and the light is about 14 inches from the plant and I have it dimmed to about 40 percent

i don’t use led lights but it’s good you post them so others can chime in and tell you about them and how to use them,.

i got auto flowering because the tent i have rn is only 5ft tall so i didnt figure a full size would be a good idea. i figured they grow faster than normal so it would be a faster process in learning by making mistake vs losing a huge plant and having wasted more time. i did however get another tent for bigger plants but i wanna wait and see how this one goes, i got a 4x4x80. i planned on doing 1/4 of the recommended newts so i dont over do it right off the bat. but i have a hub system that keeps the environment all within 5 degrees and 5% humidity of what its set to.
It really depends on the genetics. I've seen autos pull weight that shocked me. (I've also seen a few I'd be happy to grow/smoke, though very few.) Not to knock all autos, but several aren't my favorite as far as the high.

I understand being limited on space! My best friend of forty years was only allowed a 4x4x6 spot in a closet by his wife, way back when LEDs were not even a thing for horticulture. His HPS hood (400w!) Took over 10 inches of space from the top, so he was left under 4 feet to grow 4 indicas, after the pots and light.
Talk about stem training! By the time he harvested, the entire cabinet was stuffed like a cork, and he had only 3 plants of the 4 left. There were buds the size of softballs!

If you run photoperiod seeds, you can either start at only 14hrs of light, or even 12/12 (I don't suggest 12/12 though). At 14 hrs, you can veg for 3 weeks, and then let them rip at 12/12 if they're looking healthy. This will typically keep them way shorter (in many strains). Some strains will just veg until they feel like flowering, usually about another 2 weeks after the early flip.

I've done this a time or two when growing in a hollowed-out dorm fridge. (Also before LEDs.) My plants finished about 3 inches away from the MH fixture, which was just a 4 inch pyrex bread baking tube with a dryer hose on each end and a 150w MH "horticultural" bulb.

Aaaah, the good old days of having to be discreet.

Those are fine for potted plants. For the love of Pete, though, buy CalMag, and get some worm castings. (They are cheap.)

If you have a Tractor supply nearby, they have Dr Earth on sale. It's basically dried organic ferts, and LOTS of people kick a$$ using Dr Earth. I would compare it to Grow Big mixed with a pinch of Tiger Bloom. The only thing I hated about Dr Earth was the smell. Oh my.

yep that’ll work also though this an auto and his first grow so no matter what he picks he’ll need advice the whole grow

popping in for an update. I watered the entire soil yesterday until I had run off and then waited a half hour and watered again until it ran off again ( I know it took me awhile but life's been busy lol). I still have yet to stop at the garden center but i plan to this weekend. any tips or method to the madness when it comes to nutrients and when to start them? I don't plan on going full serving for them i wanted to run about half or maybe even quarter what's recommended so I don't make any harsh mistakes with this being a first time.

also I have my fan set on oculate and set to "natural wind" setting.
temp 74 degrees
humidity 70%

Just in case this is of use. I am running three 3 gallon pots in a tray2Grow system that mimics your setup. Here’s my thing…

Pop them in solos
Feed very light nutrients from the start
Don’t transplant to your final pot until the leaves are at the edge or a little beyond the edge of the solo cup.
Top water in circles around the growing plant, moving to the edges at the leaves approach the edge of the pot
When the leaves get within one inch or so of the pot edge, turn on your system, fill it, then off.
This mix should be at a higher EC
The plant reacts amazingly fast once it starts to drink the enhanced nutrients.
Continue to top water only at the edges of the pot for a couple more days tops.
Then I turn the reservoir on and watch for any stalling. If I get it I remove that plant until I get dry back.

They work. Screw the haters. I’ve never experienced faster starting plants. I can only speak to Autopot products specifically but I believe many of these approaches will help.

This is my current grow. Popped on 7/5 and 7/15 and badly in need of the next round of LST. All autos.

well its refreshing to know i didnt waste money on my irrigation system lol BUT i i have questions lol

is your system a wick line set up? idk if all bottom feed systems are the same lol. and if it is, do you ever have a problem with the roots growing into your wick lines?

do you think it being wick fed messes with nutrients reaching the plant or do you think i should top feed nutrients and if not then how do you do your feed properly? do you let the entire system drain before you add more newts or do you just add more once the bag hits a certain amount of water.

do i use the bag lift method to know when to turn the system back on after filling one of the res pots?
