I'm pretty paranoid about bugs here's what I do. New cuts always get hit with Avid 1st..<< I know it's not good but I have no idea what it Mite have!! My battle starts b4 transplant.. New coco gets hit with Spectracide then plants get transplanted in2 coco with some added insect frass then I water Bayer tree & shrub & if I see anything fishy & I mean anything even a hard 2 kill springtail I will water with Marit 75.. Now I begin my foliar attack.. Once a week in veg I rotate plain neam oil, azamax, & mighty wash.. I also give my plants Caps Tea every week as a root drench plus I foliar spray with 100% pure tea no added water..

ok so first off, c'mon man @ all the folks (not just the dude that posted) not using a fucking respirator when rocking these sprays/bombs/etc. half of them arent even meant to be used in the fashion we use them, so at least take some standard precautions.

i like to bomb the room with Attain between grows. Its a little more gnarly than the Pyrethrum but it gets any eggs that may have been left behind.

I bomb the entire basement a couple times a year too. After that I hose it down top to bottom and spray Bifenthrin around the windows, corners, etc. Bifenthrin is just the active ingredient in Ortho n shit. That spray also gets applied like mad on the exterior of the property.

As for preventative sprays I agree with whats been said above. Flower is the time to be organic and do things cautiously. Veg is the time for war. I spray Forbid and some type of Spinosad in veg. Outside of those I mainly just spray teas.

Im getting sick of seeing springtails, I know folks say they are hard to kill too.

Great post KP

Got a couple questions

1. Are you growing in the basement that you spray down or are you growing in the house but just spray down the basement as precaution?

2. Do you have animals because I do but I would also like to spray outside like you but I'm worried about my dogs n cat.

Thx for the great post!

If you want to get rid of spring tails stop using compost teas. They are considered beneficial for agriculture and help carry fungi spores and bacteria around the soil. Not sure why you want to kill em all, unless u think they are root aphids

Another point for those without basements like us in SoCal. If you have wood floors and they are old or original to the house they probably don't have a plywood subfloor. They probably have 1x4 planks with 2 inch gaps between them under your wood floor. So it would be very easy for any insect or fungal spore to come up through your wood floor from the crawl space under the house. I'm gonna install linoleum floors over my wood floors in my grow areas.

These fucking bugs have turned me into a war machine. Every other minute I'm thinking of another defense!!!

Man them springtails r strong most of the times 1.5 TBS. per gal (strong death mix) will do the trick.. But 1 time it didn't work they were still there I panicked & mixed even stronger & still nuthin.. I super freaked out but plants were healthy ass fuck with thick white roots.. But them baby springtails (b4 they jump) had me in a panic.. I figured the only bug that never dies is a root aphid so I got some merit 75 I watered with the merit & them basterds were still there.. The poisen killed lots of them but I could still see 1 or 2 every now & then.. That's when I called Cap & got some of his packs..the whole time my plants looked 100% great.. But b4 I made my 1st batch of tea the Lil bugs grew up & started hopping.. LOL!! I had a panic attack 4 nuthin.. If u don't got 10 million billion of them springtails then ur good.. They say there good in low numbers & I'm thinking its true b'cuz my plants never looked sad.. But at that time I was reading the super long thread on the other site & that shit brainwashed me in2 thinking I had them..LOL! Every time I read about bugs I convince myself I got them 2 even if my plants look good.. Now this new BM I'm fuckin starting 2 panic again..

I should only read about good things b'cuz it's better 4 me health.. LOL!!

So after my long ass story I'd say it only kills springtails sometimes.. Damn my long ass post didn't help any but it took me 2 long 2 write it so I'm posting it..

Great thread dan

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with these little bastards!
You're getting some great advice though........

This may look like overkill, but when using harsh pesticides/chemicals one can never be too careful....
And as I found out, these suits are great for scaring the neighbors:eek:

I like to spray a 50% iso alcohol mix as well along with some of the other things listed in this thread

Good luck and enjoy the down time:)

Thx MG another great post!

So many people talking about springtails and I've never heard of them before this thread. If anyone in SoCal has springtails can you give a shout out because I'm wondering if they're in SoCal?

Thx again Goo and I love your play on words with "mite" :)

Ha Ha Mogrow, c'mon man, we all know Roundups a herbicide.....lol ..aint gonna kill any bugs with that stuff........:)

Well my neighbor definitely thinks I'm a meth cook, but that's preferable to what she used to think when I was the piano player at the local brothel:D

Seriously Mogrow when I shut down and tear my rooms down I suit up and spray
everything in there floor to ceiling with bleach ,alcohol, and Oxidate, then the bombing starts with bug bombs and Fungaflor bombs, then some sulfur burns and after it is all aired out for a few days the plants go back in......

The chem suits a must for that project considering I'm cleaning over 600 sq. ft.
of flowering space.....;)

shit big waayne, nothing wrong with being the piano player at the whore house.i'd take that gig.

all this bleach, eagle 20, forbid shit just freaks me out. i shut my garden down and have been down there and i have it has a good feel. i would totally freak if someone came down there with a bottle of bleach or other shit like that. my room is clean but not lab clean.

. u, soulie, delae, all talk about doing this stuff, but man i ain't signing on too it. i respect you guys and have seen your product.
anyway my skins still crawling thinking about that stuff in my grow:eek:
maybe i'd think different if i had suffered through a bad problem.
peace mogrow
