I see. Have not used hydro guard myself. What i meant though was the dissolved oxygen levels but that's a great point in that adding more air stones with that product would not be good. Waterfalls are great at achieving dissolved oxygen too.

I also am not sure that the foam is a problem. I just get uncomfortable when my res is anything but mountain clean spring water lookin. ..

a single species of bacteria that lives in water and attaches to roots and helps fight pathogen and also helps nutrient uptake

I have used it for ever with great success

the only time I had a problem was when I had any kind of carbon based products in the res....it will eat it and go crazy

and will start to look like strands of sea weed

but the shit works

never had any root problems and my roots are always explosive

and yeah summers eve Vinegar and salt water with "injector"

Heck ya! Hydroguard + More Oxygen and you should be golden. Hydroguard even claims to create no scum from what I've read on it so far. That's pretty sweet.

Here's the pics after changing out Rez, lowering water level and adding airstone to the left bucket.

pH 5.6, temp 64F, 850/500 ppm.

Dunked the roots of bendy in a mild bleach solution for a minute before throwing her back in. Also pruned Any really dead looking branches.
