Road Kill Skunk - Ester Alcohols, Train-wreck and the Catpiss Connection

Didnt know where to put this but, I ran lemon skunk last year, and had a sativa leaner. She is very diesel tasting. This leads me to think perhaps diesel is the sativa leaner of r.k.s. skunk is 2/3 sativa 1/3 indica. Genetically speaking. Diesel is very sativa like, correct? She is long and lanky, and takes 10 to 11 weeks. Road kill was said to be 8 to 9 weeks. It even makes sense because columbian gold has a lemon lime component. Perhaps where the sour comes from, when it hits the afgani. Anyway, Saturday's stoner thoughts.

Diesel, modern day American OG Kush, cheese?, and Chem all came from the Skunk line I'm fairly sure. I'm not sure if the cheese showed up after skunk#1 or before, but the others certainly came after and were direct descendants of different types of offspring the skunk line produced. My original line was untouched by any modern day line and I seen nuances of all those in my lines, except really diesel. Mine was more a lemon/skunk hybrid. I'm also 100% convinced the official Skunk smell came from an early 70's Hindu Kush after talking with farmers in Afghanistan.

Diesel is def. more sativa like in structure and even head high. Smacks you in the head and body. Sour Diesel is one of my favorite smokes of all time.

I also think Columbian gold got mixed in with the Skunk #1 line. If you notice Bubba Kush structure, that really is what most of my original RKS mom's looked like except much bigger bud structure. Here's my last mom from 2010ish

Wtf…I deleted my double post and it deleted both…nutshell I was expressing my love for those 90s SD and Skunk buds that seem not to exist anywhere (even here in NY where they originated , SD at least)

but what surprises me is if they DID still exist (the skunk i’m talking about smells identical to a skunk that was in the road) …then why is this not sweeping the legal cannabis world by storm? It should be dominating and blowing peoples heads away in the dispensary. The dispensaries that carried it would be crushing competition. Or they’d be cool and sell clones…but none of this is happening?

As far as sour d, tons of breeders been sitting the line. JJ from top dawg just did a bx3 that was fantastic. Just because a couple of your friends don't have direct access to it anymore doesn't mean it's gone. This leads into your skunk thing. Most legal market smokers now days don't give a shit. My skunk tests at 18-20 THC. Not very high. When your smoking 80-90% THC concentrates all day, your probably not gonna wanna smoke an 18% THC strain. Yes, Terpenes, blah blah blah but the point is you wouldnt want to smoke low THC products after smoking the biggest stuff around. It just won't do as much for you. Also me getting rid a few beans to a couple of old heads isn't really spreading the word so to speak. There been too many fakes out there weighing down the possibility for it to be alive, just how you think now.

My skunk tests at 18-20 THC. Not very high. When your smoking 80-90% THC concentrates all day, your probably not gonna wanna smoke an 18% THC strain. Yes, Terpenes, blah blah blah but the point is you wouldnt want to smoke low THC products after smoking the biggest stuff around. It just won't do as much for you. Also me getting rid a few beans to a couple of old heads isn't really spreading the word so to speak. There been too many fakes out there weighing down the possibility for it to be alive, just how you think now.

If anything I’d say there are more connoisseurs now than ever before. Robusta beans are higher in caffeine and sure they are stronger than Arabica beans but they taste crappy in comparison and you will still pay high dollar for a decent Yemen or look at those Geisha’s demanding huge price tags.

With all the fakes out there it just reinforces that that’s what the market wants, even more reason to get it circulating again. I’m talking mostly Skunk, I don’t believe it’s around anymore because if it was it would blow up in the market.

It didn't change, it got bred out... And to your comment about someone getting rich off it. If you had the skunk, how do you present it to the market, well enough to get known without someone ripping you and your work off?

And to say EVERYONE is looking for the skunk is fallacy. Most smokers now days don't even care. Too much good weed to think about old school chronic. It's us older heads that have high regard for the RKS. These new cats don't really care bruh, not unless it's about the money ..

I had a friend that grew the original RKS back in the early 80s. He always grew from seed he made.

He's still around I tried to reach out to him to no avail sadly but he's still alive.

His outdoor was easily 20+ feet tall..

I was recently gifted a cut of Silver Haze from 1997 and some flower to go along with it. Smelled and smoked nothing like todays blends. The high was outstanding. Taste was nothing like these strains today!

As far as skunk…yeah it was only 18% thc but it was a really potent high, it felt much stronger, but I just love the smell of it, was sooo good. And the diesel… well I think SD might be my favorite strain of all time. The smell and taste were awesome and it has a rockin high.

18% back then was average or even maybe above. But now with everyone smoking concentrates, shit won't really do much for you unless you smoke a gram joint to the dome, and even then, 30 minutes later I am usually hitting concentrates anyways

Just like those who drink liquor on a regular basis probably wouldn’t enjoy a glass of red wine. I get it. Personally I don’t care as much about the potency as I do the flavors and smoothness of smoke. I view my bud same as my coffee. The only thing left out of the equation would be elevation.

Curious how elevation would change the different characteristics in cannabis like the effect it has on coffee and wine?

Investing. I personally don't know much about elevation being here in Oklahoma in the great plains but I imagine there certainly is something too that. Heard too many anecdotal evidence to say otherwise. Great topic for discussion though.
