Would suggest 3k if going start to finish

Thanks, I was trying to figure out if the spectrum of the 3000 or 3500 would be better. That is one thing I liked about some of the other lights that are more expensive, you had control of the veg and bloom cycles. Scynce and California light works give that ability I believe. But they are much pricier and not sure if those amenities are worth paying double compared to the HLG600 or Kingbrite.

I flower under a mix of both those. Staggered. I can see no difference in the flower production . But for a non perpetual grow with out a veg and flower room I believe Aqua has it correct the 3k would be more effective

Amazing about the results with your daughter @Sparky75

Few things I think are important to your plan.

Any quality grow light can grow premium marijuana. No need to spend more on lamps for quality. And im surprised no one has mentioned uva or uvb which can increase quality measurably. And are not included in the led you are choosing.

For medical only I would consider 315 cmh for its truer sunlight spectrum and decent uva and uvb. Made a small difference in my grow compared to hps only. But to heal my wifes cysts only hps was used. Hortilux super hps 600’s.

And if you need a good quality 1:1 strain the only way to be sure you grew the right medicine is to aquire and keep a legit clone that has been tested. Seeds will give results all over the place and most plants wont have enough cbd.

And the lab tests are not accurate and have no standards. I had the same plant tested at iron labs here through a dispensary i worked with and got 3 different results on 3 buds taken from the same big bud. They were only within 5% of each other but were the same flower.

Finally. The growing envirenment to be stable and hospitable and controlled is the most important factor in my opinion.

Like you said earlier results can vary a lot. I can grow the same clone as another grower and get very different results.

In other words practice growing the plant. Over and over until you have the results consistantly you need. It is not as easy as some make it look. So many variables can mess up a grow.

I practically put myself through college studying how to grow. Read for years before buying a grow tent and trying it.

No amount of studying prepared me for the trials and tribulations of growing. Very stressful. And results will vary even after years of doing it.

Good luck. You are a pioneer of showing our plant can actually cure cancer. I am so happy for you and your family. Amazing news every time i hear it.

Our product has almost completely eliminated Mrs. MMG’s internal cysts that have plagued her her whole life.

In 6 months of eating and smoking our flowers and extracted coconut oil for edibles her specialist thought she had the wrong test results. The specialist had planned to operate on her.

Best luck to you sir! You came to a very caring and experienced forum. Best place i have seen online for a new grower to help succeed.

Hope this terribly long post is helpful. :-)

I was looking at adding a UVB light from California light works that run a few hours a day at the back end of the grow along with thte grow light of choice to increase desired results.

I have been looking at the octane grow tent to help with environmental control or the gorilla grow tents, I understand those are good tents that help the grow environment stability.

Experience is the only true teacher. We can educate ourselves and understand all these variables, but actual experiences teach us the true lessons.

Thanks for the help!

Running uvb the last few weeks of flower has shown the same increase in thc as running it full cycle.

Uva should be run full cycle as it can increase terpenes and flavanoids. But it is far from neccessary.

I have not found any instance where cbd is increased from lighting. Only thc.

I am very interested in how your endeavor pans out. Really best of luck and i will be following along if you dont mind.

The Blackdog lights are the only ones I know with UV. But an HLG or Kingbrite with add UV lights are probably 25% the cost of a Blackdog. Any light I buy without UV, I will add at minimum a UVB light like the one from California light works that is $99. So in some form or fashion, I will have some UV in the tent.

Some of these quantum boards provide UV and IR. I am not sure if the lights are sufficient for UV until further reading. I have been comparing the HLG 600 to the Kingbrite version, which has several options, and seeing if those are the best option.

heatsink: 940*195*10mm Heatsink size: 500*700*5mm - seems you can order either heat sink with the kingbrite and looking for the info on the HLG.
4 or 6 boards and aluminum structure
with or without UV IR, but are they suffice or is it better to look at the ones without and add a couple in addition to the light for total setup.
4 versus 6 boards on a 600.
LM301B 2.6-2.7 umol LM301H 3.0umol, then you have the LM561C
with or without dimmable feature

Getting a crash course on quantum boards and what the best setup is today.

The quantum boards seem to have endless ways to set them up, they are much more affordable. If the UV and IR are sufficient, that would be great, if not the cheaper option without them and adding the UV with another light may be better, I don't know. I will read about those two until I do. I think the HLG are already setup, but their seems to be endless options for the Kingbrite and I am not sure what would be best. So I am reading and scratching my head a lot and learning today.

Kingbrite is a good company.

The LMB301H are the updated and slightly more efficient version of the 301C's. I would personally prefer the 3500K spectrum, I feel there is a bit more balance with the red and blue spectrums but still warm enough to get great results from bloom. it is the spectrum Gavita and Fluence aim for in their units then boost the 660nm range. I built my custom unit with 4000K boards and I am very happy with the results.

Timber makes units using COB LEDS, those may also be an effective option for you.

UV can be added into the tent with reptile UV bulbs as well and those are typically cheaper.

I am with @MIMedGrower that CMH lights would be a good option, particularly if you go with a 4x8 tent. Personally I prefer having separate veg and bloom areas, it allows me to have my grows on a more continual basis, but more importantly it becomes much easier to keep mother plants with separate areas; so maybe 2 4x4 tents would be best for you. For tents I would go with Gorilla or Secret Jardin, I actually own 2 from Secret Jardin.

Those are on the list of ones I have been comparing. I have read good reviews on those lights. I had looked at the fatty VS and redwood VS. There seem to be several good options, but the price of those quantum boards has me thinking. Thanks for the tent advice.

Has anyone used the powerveg lights (t5) for uv and red to an existing light during the flower stage. They look like an excellent light to add some red and some UVA UVB light to the standard LED lights. I kind of got sidetracked looking at UV lights and red lights to help determine if I can purchase a standard led or if I need the red light option, which is a higher price. The standard versions without the UV and IR are cheaper and a person can add the red and UV t5 lights like the powerveg. I am curious how well they work and if anyone has any experience with them. A person would need a slim reflector fixture to house them other than the ones they have so you could place them beside your primary grow light.

I was going to mount the sun system 2 bulb 4’ and 2’ t-5 amps to the sides and back wall of my flower room with the full spectrum plus uv lamps. Hanging about half way up the canopy for height.

But i went with cmh hung overlaping my 2 hps 600’s and liked the results. But I hink yield and quality would go up further with the flourescents with more uvb in them.

Not that this helps you any but i am interested as well. Not much heat from those tubes compared to more hid.

the uv light from California lights looks good, but I think that UV powerveg bulb with a reflector fixture like sunblaze has (two of them) might work with the powerveg bulbs. I am still researching those. Then I would not have to worry about a grow light that has red or no red or uv or no uv. I could easily add those if needed. G8led adds the red flower boosters. Powerveg has a full spectrum + UV light bulb and a red (660) bulb and deep red (633) bulb, T5 in 2 foot or 4 foot. those would be simple to add on the side with the correct fixture. Bulbs $30 bucks and fixtures are $30-$40. California light works are about $100.

Only one very SMALL correction..
The 301H diodes are the updated 301B chips. (The B chips came after the 561 Cs )
FWIW, I still buy the B versions.
Love the Kingbright lights and also my older HLGs.

I can't remember where but I read the h chips are the same as the b chips and the h chips are just marketed toward horticulture? No idea is this is true I haven't looked into personally.

@Sparky75 If you're looking to add supplemental UV lighting, check out Solacure. These guys are all about powerful fluorescent UV lighting. They have good prices on 2 ft and 4 ft bulbs and fixtures. The nice thing with these is that the fluorescent tubes have internal reflectors so there is no need for a large fixture with reflector.

1st off my thoughts and prayers are with you for you and your daughter. I hope everything turns out well. 2nd I have been using led's for about 3 years . I have tried the cheap Mars brands as well as others. I had a Boss 1200 w for 2 years that did very well. Was getting 4.5 to 5 oz's of good bud consistently per plant. After 2 years half the board went out and was told that parts were no longer available. They did send a free replacement but only half the quality of original. Alot of sites say they will light 4X4 grow area etc. when I have found that is not the case. I was using 1 light per plant in a 5X5 tent( 4 plants 4 lights). Works really well for me and I'm sure everyone has there own opinions.
