I'm feelin' the Swedish. Last week we got a used Volvo sedan, and the more I drive this well-cared-for, well-loved car, the more *I* love it. Who knew you could get a luxury sport sedan for such a good price? I won't say what we paid, but it was extremely reasonable. I don't think I have ever loved a car quite like I love this car!

1999 Volvo S80 T6. I. Fucking. Love. This. Car!

Where would I start, though? It was the body and styling that always catches my eye. I won't tell tales, I've always liked Volvos, especially these later models. I had an uncle in Puerto Rico who always had Volvos and I always enjoyed the ride, they felt secure, not bumpy, quiet cabin, roomy and very comfortable. On these mountain roads, though? The handling is.. it's unreal, it is so superb, I have never experienced anything like it. Even needing new tires, the car magically sticks to the road, even when I feel I'm pushing the boundaries. I hit 90mph on the freeway! I never do that! I scared myself.

Someone put this car up for sale alongside the main highway in our little town. When I saw it, I pointed and told Dave, "Oh! You would totally see your wife driving that car."
He sniffed, "I don't like Volvos. I test drove a Volvo once."
"Yes, I know, and you ended up with a Taurus. I like Volvos. That's a nice car, and I would happily drive it."

Couple days later, similar conversation. "I really like that car."

"Yes, I know. You ended up with a Taurus. I had an uncle in Puerto Rico who always had Volvos and I like them, a lot. I would totally drive that car <pointing at the Volvo>."

Couple days later, I get a call from Dave.
"Wanna go test drive that Volvo?"
<silence....> "What? Seriously??"
Conversation ensued, the price was nothing like what either of us expected, so I started researching it. Found horrible reviews on the car, but after reading a lot on it, I learned that there are those golden nuggets that just go and go and go. I met Dave and the seller at the car fully prepared to hate it.

Let's just say that after test driving it... I couldn't resist it and asked if we could do it. As a replacement for the fucking Jeep, which I hate and have hated for a LONG time? This just completely RAWKS! Funny thing is, Blue book on the Jeep is pretty much the same as for this Volvo. Insurance is going to cost us $12/yr more than the Jeep, fuel will cost us about a quarter less even though it uses premium or mid-grade (for keeping the motor, I'll stick with premium), and the repairs will be well worth Dave's time, unlike with the Jeep.

I don't understand the demand for Jeeps, but there ya go. Me? I'm feelin' the Swedish. :D

We used to have that same model, and year sea. Great car had some decent power.

Night and DAY from the Jeep (was my FIL's car, he left it w/us when he moved to flat-lands) *or* the Excursion (that was Dave's pick back in '04, we needed something that could easily transport 6-8 people+luggage+dog(s)+tow+4WD. I don't like it in icy or snowy conditions, though, it's actually too big, so I'd like to get a newer T6 in the future, AWD.

Did I mention I love this car?

Looks sharp...1st ticket let us know, on my hot rod 1 week.......179 bucks 70 in a 55

Jeeps are highly customizable, this is the main reason for the demand. Some of their higher end vehicles are pretty swanky as well--so there's also demand on that end. Jeeps by and large are enthusiast vehicles. They do well for 4 wheeling and going on crazy tracks, shit like that. There are a lot of mods out there that you can only really do on a Jeep.

Beyond that what you see with Jeep is the idea that big brands die slowly. Jeep became an American icon in the 2nd World War. That alone would've been enough to carry it through to today.

With the Volvo, I don't know much about servicing them--but I think that might actually be the problem. As with a lot of euro vehicles you might find parts more expensive and such like that, but if you've got someone doing the repairs that pretty much knocks out the only con there might've been (if you have a dude who can fix it for you--he can probably find the parts on the cheap as well).

If you were someone buying without an easily accessible mechanic, I'd advice against this--but honestly with that taken care of you can't really do better than a Volvo. Buy that shit with confidence imo--Volvos are great vehicles.

jeeps are designed just like HMMWVs or Humvees (hummers) as theyre known. Compare the grilles and the wheel placement. This is why theyre superior off roading

There are also things about the design which make them uniquely catered to doing repairs in the field. The Jeep was designed from the ground up with this in mind due to its original purpose (warfare), whereas most other designers of vehicles never operated under such an MO.

Yellowfin Tuna above average size. and where we go to catch these.

LMAO I drove a rio from florida to cali a while back. Had my daily driver shipped (uncle sam footed the bill) and took the kia to save on gas. West of El paso the speed limit is 80 I got up to 85 and caught a nasty bubble on one of the cheap ass tires. One of the lugs was stuck and I ended up breaking it off, drove the rest of the way on 3 lugs lol.

Worked at a dealership for a while and got to drive lots of bad ass rides. The ZO6 is scary fast, 7 series bimmers are the most spacious of the luxury cars but my favorite was this caddy STS-V simply amazing, they only made em for a couple years tho:(

Fastest shit I've been in was a twin turbo Talon TSi AWD. That shit was straight up put on a motherfucking diaper.

I know that sounds dumb, by the way--but trust me I don't know how the guy rigged it exactly, but it was definitely a twin turbo. I think he was running a lower psi and had to customize a special manifold for it (and I'm sure a bunch of other shit).

Is that the eagle? the old school eclipse ones? yea theyre fast but even a base model vette would blow the doors off that shit. regardless of any mods to either car

Yeah we didn't get many vettes on the south side.

And yeah I do believe it is the eagle.

Did someone say fishing?

Big Snook in southwest Fl. One of my most favorite things to do is fishing the intercoastal waters chasing big snooks and redfish! Or trout, mackerel, shark, flounder, and big Tarpon!. Even this time of year the big Sheeps Head come into spawn are great fun. I really miss living down there.
