Yo smerb, when i used to press rosin, I learned about the taffy tech. Have you tried it? Whipping rosin like mad until it's a little stable, then with gloves start pulling with your hands like taffy. It makes rosin stable and also makes it much lighter in color also same color all the way through. Here is someone doing it in this pic.
