Hey guys hows it going? ive recently started dabbling in solvents concentrates and they leave me with a few questions i wanted to get your guys opinions on. Obviously the tested ppms of the residual impurities with solvelntless is going to be way less than that of butane, but are those minute levels of residual butane enough to really effect you anyway? obviously if youre dabbing poop soup its bad for you, but if you have quality heat vacuumed BHO turned into shatter or a serious stable budder does it matter? i have to say side by side the butane extracted stuff tastes equal to maybe even better than the c02 extract. (maybe im bias becuase thats what im use to). but at the end of the day taste doesn't necessarily dictate healthiness but anyways what do you guys think? maybe im just thinking on a "bang for your buck" type level....

i ll give u a bump and a bit off topic but this made me think of all the peeps that are concerned with butane/residual in their oil but still hit there bongs and pipes with butane filled lighters. hit a clean pipe and a fresh bowl lit with a hemp wick and ull never go back. u can def taste the difference and made me realize how bad that stuff must b on our lungs.

just like all the solvents.. and co2 and other extractions.. some are good for somethings and bad for other.. wether its smell taste or look.. they all have there pros and cons.. I just prefer clean products. don't care wat u make them with as long as I am not getting any tane left in my product im a happy camper.

so true. people suck down grams of that shit per hit

That's why you stick to methods like mine.. that don't involve the use of chemicals -or- solvents.. yes water is a solvent.

You retain 100% of your terpene profile and there is 0% chance of there being anything 'leftover'. It erases the questions you are having.

This is supposed to be medicine.. not what gets you the highest. If that's what you want, then stick to actual, natural remedies instead of whatever chemical compound butane extraction turns it into. It is not natural at that point.

The high from a 99% dry sift will be far more enjoyable in many aspects than that of a bho rip, and I don't care how the bho was made. Terpenes are extremely important.

have you ever smoked BHO?

All you posted was your opinion. Properly made extracts retain their Terpene profile

To answer the original question, the analysis I had made of the residual contaminants in butane, as well as subsequent work by myself and particularly SkyHighler, reveal that there are low level toxic contaminants in butane, that would find their way into your end product at levels thousands to quadrillion times smaller than current published levels of health concern.

If you saw an analysis of mothers milk, or your drinking water contaminants, you would also see things of concern at those levels.

All a marketing ploy on words.
After you remove the solvent it become solventless.

A solventless extract like for example "the clear" could originally be made with butane. Then a process is done to remove the solvents until a LAB tests the extract "solvent free"

Therefore the confusion of assuming that the material with made without a solvent.

The terpenes can be removed and re-added after extraction.

A solventless extract van be made form dry sift, bubble, flowers, trim, butane or ethanol extract.

Make sense now?

i think proper purging with a vacuum chamber is important from my experience ive been making hash for a minute lol and u CANNOT get all the butane out with just heat ive done my fair share of experiments

So you have lab/scientific proof that butane/solvents do not remove the terpenes? Link plz.

Even water removes soluble terpenes. But you claim solvents like butane don't?

Idk too many people who claim they can taste more terps with bubble than butane... all hash has a " hashy" taste . Properly made extract via co2 or butane taste identical to the flowers it was made from

So you're telling us that BHO is solventless?

And please enlighten us on how you put back terpenes you stripped off with chemicals after the fact.
No, I am just telling you what the clubs are doing and why there is confusion due to the process and term "solventless" being used. You obviously are lacking solid information and the skills to obtain that information.

One wayTerpenes can be trapped and isolated using a cold trap and vacuum OR using gas chromotography.

They can also be purchased from Places like Sigma Alderich.
Get up on the times.

Not my opinion it is fact. Science!! you know the stuff that makes your head spin, all that you don't comprehend. Now you need me to spoon feed you the information. Pathetic but expected.

"As the article states the guy is only able to recover only minute amounts.. very curious though."
That was an accidental discovery without the proper equipment. Different results would be achieved with proper equipment. The co2 cartridges in the clubs state they have terpenes that are captured in a cold trap during the co2 extraction that are then added back in during packaging.
Dry sift is boring IMO just kief

Nice if you go to the cup in june(or july?) bring a gram of your dry sift ill bring a gram of shatter, we do fat gram dabs and see who ends up on the floor:D

Kief has much more subtle flavors that get washed out with bubble hash or oil. Your arguments I would only consider if I was going to be gone for a while and I was only allowed to carry so much weight. If I have to take 2 extra hits to get that flavor,I am willing to sacrifice my time and energy. JK

Ryan, sorry your thread has been hijacked. Hope you are learning some things in the process.
I did not come here to argue. Cannabis Alchemy is all it is. Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation spread around on forums.

IME, Good dry sift (pure heads lacking plant material) takes longer than 10 minutes to make. bubbleman's dry sift tutorial is excellent.

Basically, When it comes to the highest % numbers the solvent extractions win.
The essential oils from the heads are removed and without the presence of fats lipids and waxes.
You end up with a higher percentage of thc in the extract.

The results show in lab testing. Since photos get right to the point.
Here is a photo that helps to show the test results. All was made from the same product.

Props to Sticky Business and Herbal Synergy for sharing the photo. I find this makes it easier for most people to see the differences.

Although the oil is the highest % wont have the same flavor along with flavanoids and terpenoids. But during the conversion of thca into thc you get an even higher % of thc.

Supporting information below...

Oil is made by heating the extract to a point that allows the waxes, fats and lipids to vaporize; but does not vaporize the oils. This is also the point of decarboxilation.

Here are the results from a cannabinoid test of different consistencies. I made all these different types of hash from one batch of trim. The Bubble Hash was to be used as a constant.
