In my opinion yes, it is still way cooler than the 600w hps I used to run but im running a sf-2000. I don't know about the 4000 but im adding a second 2000 and probably removing the drivers to outside my tent.
Doesn't seem to be a popular option around here but I totally understand that. I come from an era of growing where we would "hack" any product, warranty or not if it made life easier on our plants because cannabis specific products were not really available easily so I probably see this through a different lens.
There's obviously a trade off with these lights. Output for heat. If you and your plants can live with that it shouldn't matter what the "pros" say.
In fairness I should add that this is also my first experience with LED besides a $60 Verosky, having just made the switch from HID so I don't have the knowledge to compare them with other brands like HLG.

Happy plants = happy me ❤

Yeah my office manager has said essentially the same the war stories about Microwave ovens but if I pay the extra $$$ over a Kingsbrite for the security of the warranty I'm not going to tinker (not a tinkerer) otherwise I would save the buck & get one of them, just sayin'.

Yep, the SFs notably do grow them stout.

I was thinking the same thing, possibly removing them from the room entirely. (next room over)

These are the others I was looking at, I'm think of actually going with these ones instead, I couldn't find the link earlier.

Plus, I like the idea of this being an American build, and I believe the guy is a disabled veteran, so that's a plus.

Pardon Our Interruption...

I'm actually thinking about this one.

PVC is 2’x2’x3’. SF is ok. The little boxes on top of the lights are creating heat issues.

UV-B light reduces powdery mildew (PM) infection by up to 90%, so any lights I purchase, it's a must have for me. Plus the added benefit of enhanced oil production.

Buy separate t5 UV a/b bulbs. I have 4 4 ft. bulbs I lay across the tops of my ROI e720s (between bar spacings) and have them set using a precise interval timer. Leave them on for longer than 10 minutes solid and your plants are toast.

I am telling you go with a light fixture more spread out with that kind of wattage. The heat dissipates better. Having all that wattage in the center will bite you in the end once you realize too much par in the center and not enough on the outside edges. That is wasted distribution. I would take an ROI e680 over that board. There is a price difference though.

So this is what i did on this front. I got some Quantum 350's V3 samsung LM301H 3.5K+660nm W/meanwell drivers. meanwell hlg-320h-48b I also picked up 20x of these...

10x of these:
Samsung LM301H
58x Samsung lm301b 2700k LEDs
16x Samsung lm301h 4000k LEDs
16x Samsung lm301b 6500k LEDs
4x 680nm Deep Red LEDs
2x 700nm Far Red (IR) LEDs
400mmx30mm (16 in x 1.2 in) 96 diode LED Strips

10x of these:
96x Samsung lm301h 2700k LEDs
400mmx30mm (16 in x 1.2 in) 96 diode LED Strips

So to the addition to the 856 diodes on the Quantum board, I'm going to add another 960 diodes on each one, for a grand total of 1860 diodes on each light, for a grand total of 3632 diodes, about 1000 shy of the Gavita pro 1700e. and 3w less power.

That should be pretty damn close, performance wise. Essentially, I'm just going to customize these pre-made units.
I might just mount them on aluminum cookie sheets, since there going to run so cool, LOL, either that or 3 inch by 1/4 inch aluminum plates. When I get done, these things will be efficient as all heck.
