I know if you snip a tiny bit of plant material off the top of the bud it is like topping a branch and it will make it swell up instead of stretch up. SO if you want golfball buds on a plant that normally does elongated ones you can practice this technique.

If you go ahead and top the branch early and then bend it down, you can end up with a whole fan of bud, instead of just one branch;

So, do you take the resin off your stroking hand and reapply it back to the flower?? lmao You get bigger size after stroking though, huh, wonder if it shoots out more resin if you stroke it enough?;)

Here is a basic technique that really gives plants a symmetrical growth pattern and solid nugs on every branch.....most people might have seen this but for the newer growers its a good method to try...I use this method with great results....

I've only, just started to read through that. I'm very interested in That technique. What do you yield on average with this technique and how long do you veg?

Yield has too many factors for any one method to take credit for....I will say that this gives your plants a frame that has the potential for huge yields, with your environment correct for the strain being grown, focus on the roots and structure during veg, and proper feeding than anything is possible...don't worry about yield bro, take your time to master each step of plant growth and your yields will improve with your skill....nobody on earth can tell you what your yield would be. Just because someone tops their plants a few time doesn't mean they are going to yield well, they might have not learned the best method to keep the nodes tight, how to feed without burning their plant, light distance, light type, media used..........this method gives my plants the best structure, so I'm only offering you one √ on the list.

I've pulled 32oz off a 600 .....4 plants with this method, 5gallon pots, proper feeding, new bulbs, temp in √ , good yielding strain.....Sometimes I do low yielding strains and only get 1lb of a 600, but the bud is better...

I've been "PruningForMainstems" for 40 years,
learned from a Jamaican Rastaman--
I don't do any tying-down or anything...

@geologic nice man, I've been doing it for about 15, I wanted to post that link because most people get it confused for regular topping and miss the whole idea by not understanding the pattern ...the plants grow so much better when the "mainline" pattern is followed..

Thanks clock.

Your welcome guys !!! That's the real deal way to top plants, it gives you the solid branches with none of the weak under node bs, everything grows nice and even.....I'm happy its something new to some of you because its a method that will really improve your grows..:)

@geologic -- I'd seen your post on that, in your thread on Sport Hunting IIRC, yes? But I hadn't quite grasped how it was achieved. Reading what @clockworx has shared, the tutorial on mainlining (a new term for me with regard to canopy control & training), I'm off to read and then to try! They got me at "most of the work is done early on and then you sit back and reap benefits."

Like THAT.

You can control the size of the Colas de Zorras.

Stop pruning early and get big Colas--
like this year...

...or keep pruning and get a lot more Colitas--
like last year...

Got partway through the tutorial yesterday, but I've had a lot to do and couldn't finish it. Have the page up to start digging deeper.

Planting outdoors you don't need to be tying down or any of that,
the plants will adjust themselves.
If your sativas try to turn back into Christmas trees,
just prune each (wannabe)dominate stalk individually.

Actually, my first post was in a different thread;
and was met with a bit of hostility by Fundamentalist LST'ers--
who've disappeared some of their posts...
