Bongo, 12 years old, only has two teeth in his mouth (upper and lower fangs) and is still kicking ass hunting mice, rabbits, birds and squirrels.

Here's HonkyTonk a baby crow who didn't develop all his tail feathers yet. I was feeding him bread and got pretty close to him. He hung around me for a week or so with Mom and Pop keeping a close eye on him. He had a strange Caw..nothing like a crow but was more of a Honk Honk. Thus his name HonkyTonk. He finally got his wings and still comes to visit. I have no TV and stuff like this is my entertainment. I don't have a zoom camera and I am about arms distance away from him.

Here's my Trailer Trash weed, a pollen chucked White Widow x Big Bud cross popped into a trashcan. I'd guess shes got 3-4 more weeks too go (weather depending) but I cut off a few buds for the hell of it. I did some experimenting on this gal with some super cropping stuff as I topped it repeatedly and pulled down all the branches. I wanted too see how much stressing she could take and the end results. Again, nothing special here or jaw dropping nor will it be on the cover of High Times but it will be good, clean homegrown MJ that costs me very little to grow. Ya can see my Grampa rocking chair on the deck..this is where I often sit and chill and watch and listen. My favorite times if sunset. It's my personal "Entertainment Center" so to speak.

Bongos digging the new sunroom i see... my Larry's 12 and only has a couple teeth too, still thinks he's the cock of the walk, got his ass kicked real bad last week and momma been doctoring him back to health..
Greenhouse looking good Kolah, bet you gonna need it, with snow on the peak and all.
ive had a few squirrels that would come up real close to me but never a crow, awesome. i like crows, alot people don't.

GC, I will try and catch some nice sunset pics.
MG, Since my totum (power) animals are winged creatures I am a bird fanatic. Crows are super intelligent and very family oriented. There is a pack of about 30 of them here. They make some cool sounds, one sounds like a hyena laughing (almost kinda spooky) and I have a few that mimic my Native flute playing. They can also screech identical to the sound of a Red Tail Hawk. Often when it is still just before sunset they fly quite low and you can hear the sound of their wings pumping through the air. They can get very noisy (talkative) at times but I find it quite pleasing to hear them...it sounds like they are partying it up and just enjoying Life. We should take lessons from them.
Although all my Hummingbirds have gone south, I have a lone Redheaded Woodpecker (named Charlie) who has taken a liking to their sugar water. He pecks several times, very fast into the feeder holes and then tips his head way back to swallow. It is very similar to a person drinking a shot of whiskey. It's funny as shit to see. I'll try and catch a picture of him. He's a big un.'
I have Stellar Blue Jays here, Mountain Bluebirds and magnificent Magpies....and 5 or 6 Doves. I feed them occasionally but do not do it daily as they need to rely on themselves for food. In the winter I help them out a bit more. I strongly believe that you can kill them with kindness by feeding them daily as they will loose their natural skills for finding their own food.
Yesterday I saw a shiney Black Squirrel dragging off a huge chunk of watermelon rine from the bird feeder. It was amazing to watch him drag it along and then haul it up a tree into his nest.

Man all that nature and wildlife is a 100x better then T.V........T.V and video games and technology are runing todays youth all they care about is getting points and how many facebook friends they got!
every time I look at your pics I get jealous in a good way so beautiful and probly so peaceful I can't wait till I have some property one day and can do something similar to what you do!

Winged animals are one of my teachers as well- some crazy shit about living where I did in LA was that I lived in a guest house on my friend's property and shared the domain with a group of 23 crows- at least I never counted more than 23 at a given point. I would just sit there and watch them and walk through them... quite captivating... The bungalow guest house was completely rebuilt when I had moved into it- amazing little pad...it had been out of commission for several years- strangely enough it was the where Brandon Crow was staying when he was filming The Crow. Very strange.
Had another strange day in LA when I was walking down toward Melrose to get a haircut and saw a little brown breathing animal, came closer it was a small hawk... I was sitting there with it and a lady walks up "oh my god its a Coopers Hawk, I'm an ornithologist," and she scoops him right up and inspects him "looks like he hit a tree and may have cracked a breastplate or is just dazed..." She continued and said she was an out of towner and "did I know of any bird sanctuaries around here". I didn't but decided I'd figure it out, so I got a blue rubbermaid I had in the trunk and grabbed a bunch of foliage to line the thing and had no problem scooping the hawk right into the bucket. Kept it at home that night and found a place in Malibu I drove out to the next day to drop it off. But that night he kept making strange noises everytime I left it alone, so I just sat with him and it stayed quiet, at one point I managed to snap this pic while I spent some time with him- had an strange feeling and experience that night... ended up crying like a baby
....And then there's my Teacher Owl.... but that is another full diatribe on it's own- when I had really only stopped over to wish you well and admire your land vicariously through the photos. Take care

real nice kolah love the way you live your life my friend seen a baby crow going for it's first test flight once to say the least the concrete floor did nt greet it to well
:( she took real good care of it though for 3 weeks the mum and dad were always close by watching then one day it just took off funny though it does return at times just like yours :) peace

Well, things are getting busy here, last night we had sleet and low temps (28). I have a greenhouse full of bloomers so I kicked it up a notch and made a homemade fireplace right inside the GH. I started in the morning by hunting down friends looking for free materials. I needed some cinderblocks (whole or broken pieces), some rebar, some vent piping and had to buy 2 bags of S mortar cement (12 dollars). I was racing against the clock and gathered everything I needed in about 3 hours. Good friends made it all happen by supplying me the materials but it was up to me and myself to build a small fireplace in about 6 hours.
With my adrenaline pumped and just as the storm-front moved in with darkness following, I lit her up for a test run. She vented excellent and it was a real treat to watch the temps in the GH rise and humidity drop. Whew...pulled another rabbit out of my hat.... although I worked a straight six hours in high gear being fully-fueled on salt and vinegar chips and two Coors beers. I lit a good-sized fire at 9 pm, crashed out and then went out to check things at Midnight and re-lit another fire. At 6 AM the GH was a balmy 38 degrees and all the plants looked happy. I need to make a door for the fireplace and tidy things up a bit. It's not pretty but it's quite functional.
I took today off work because I have to finish things up as we are expecting even colder temps this weekend. I'll post some pictures of the fireplace later tonight. The fireplace was a very simple build that anyone could do. Final cost: 12 bucks, some good friends and a days work.

My best and biggest outdoor plant (growing on a dirt mound) which I covered with a thick plastic tarp is in bad fucking shape. The biggest colas and anything else that was touching the plastic tarp froze. Although they were about 2 weeks away from harvest, I should have cut them down last night. Dammit. Ill let then thaw out and see if they are salvageable but I doubt it as they often turn to mush once the plant cells have froze. The trichrome heads probably burst as well. Oh well, it coulda' been worse. :)

I hear ya Zonk, it was one of the plants with a swingset frame around it. I just didn't have enough time to frame it in better to keep the buds from touching the tarp as I was busting balls trying to finish up the fireplace. I'd rather lose one plant than a greenhouse full of healthy gals. Forecasters are calling for low 20's and snow tonight. I'm ready. I think. :confused:
As far as friends go? yeah it's great to have them. I know one guy who is a carpenter and his yard is like Junkyard Heaven. Although his neighbors don't think so, lol. He has just about anything you can think of and we always barter and trade for goods. I owe him, big-time.
