Drying space is always an issue for me. The guy I lease from still lives in the house and is a major hoarder. So yeah I generally have to pack my dry rooms much more then I would like to. So I use a bunch of fans. A heater ( depending on the outside weather ) and a large 70 pint de hum with a hose that automatically drains the water out of the floor. I run the de hum at 50 percent humidity for the first day or two and then I will turn it off if the weed is drying to fast. For smaller harvests and if your drying in better ventilated rooms such as an indoor room you most likely won't need a de hum. The dehum comes in very handy when we get our first rain and have tons of huge branches that are a little moldy and soaking wet and you really wanna get the drying process moving along and stop the mold from spreading.

Thanks, boss. Up here in the Pacific Northwest (at least where I'm at) humidity is a major concern (even indoors) about 75% of the year. Went for the slow dry with no dehuey last round and ended up losing just under 10% to mold. Lesson learned. Think this round I'll run the dehumidifier on a cycle timer at 2 hrs on/2hrs off and I'll see how it goes.

This thread makes me want to grow outside again.

Keep up the good work!

I am exhausted. Just got back from my 4 day bachelor party river rafting trip on the rogue river in southern Oregon. It was an absolute blast with amazing memories and great friends that I will cherish forever. We have so much work to do at the farms it's almost overwhelming but we did about 4 hours today and made a good plan for the upcoming week. This is the plan as of now. We have to buck down all the colas from the first harvest of the light deps. We then need to set up the other dry room with lines and support. Then we have to harvest all the remaining light dep plants and stuff both rooms completely full and let them dry. Then we will take down both hoop houses so we cAn weed whack and mow that area. Put down the weed cloth. Order 50 more yards of soil and fill up 38 more 300 gallon pots with the tractor guy . Recrinstruct one of the light dep hoop houses and make it about 4 feet wider and put 60 100 gallon pots in the light dep and get those plants planted. Then set up both gardens with drip systems and hammer in about 600 t posts to be able to put up the support netting for each of the 300 gallon pots. Wish me luck. :)

Congratulations. :)

By the by, Eliot Coleman has devised a system using movable high tunnels on skids or rollers. You might want to check out how he does it for year-round (vegetable) cultivation in his location. I'd have adopted the methods on our Amador property, but the slope made it impossible.

harvested the bottom 3/4 of all the light dep plants. It definitely makes things more chaotic on the farm doing light dep and full term at the same time. The big plants are starting to finally take off and we are gonna put in a big work weekend and hopefully get the light dep re planted and another 30 or so 300 gallon pots filled up and planted as well. It's almost impossible to get a soil delivery on the weekend. I think since mendo went to 99 it's been crazy for the soil companies.

The cherry pies were super fire before we cut them down. It's all about letting the plants get nice and healthy with a lot of bud sites before you flip them.

Does the cherry pie actually smell or taste like cherries?

Not really.. Last year when I grew it outdoor it had really dense colas that reminded me of the old mendo purps everyone grew.. Not the purple variety but the dense green urkle if that makes sense.. It had a cross that made it healthier and a little more of a heavy producer but still had some serious punch behind it... I think the colors that came out of this round of the light dep were due to some serious cold weather and days of overcast in the morning.. As well as being my first run of deps..

It always blows my mind how the same strain will do completely different in each environment it is grown... Even indoors it seems like each room is its own little micro climate.. Its a cross of Durban poison and grandaddy purps... All of my friends are growing it in covelo i can get u the cut if you want,, its pretty darn good :)

I ordered the last 40 yards of dirt, its coming tomorrow morning and hopefully by Sunday afternoon we will have the last 30 three hundred gallon pots planted. Once that happens I can really focus on giving them some good teas and getting them nice and healthy. After that I still have to put in my drip system and build the trellis system for the plants.... :) I can't wait.
