Fires in your neck of the woods are a good time to put all your pictures and heirlooms in a few boxes and bags so you know exactly where they are.

"hot as balls"
I just checked, found 2 balls withen reach but both are cool, dry and well powdered.
Are your balls defective?

Mine are menopausal balls. Defective--yes. :o
I think I would have to agree with you. Fires are shit scary.
I'm pretty paranoid about being burned, closest thing to a phobia I have.

Fortunately, it's at about 50% containment now. We're still keeping the 'scursion ready to hook up to the travel trailer. We still have possessions prioritized for saving, and the prioritizing the animals thing fucking SUCKS.

Think you folks in the midwest can shoot somma dat cool & wet over this way here?

Love to ship some cool weather your way Sea. Been cool here since last Wednesday. Supposed to continue all week. Forecast calls for rain measured in inches here during the week. Might not get out of the 70's by mid week. Great sleeping weather. I over slept today....the only thing I was late for was my first cup of coffee.
Gonna try and get a 6 mile walk in today, if I can dodge the rain storms. Just heard the clock strike 9 and that means time to check out the girls. Back to cause more trouble a little later.

Sprinkles here overnight but it was still almost 80 at 3 am,over 100 everyday for the next week.Lots of dry lightning strikes to,i heard a dozen people got taken out by lightning at venice beach yesterday:eek:.My back is toasted with this weather changing back and forth.

Lightning on the beach?

one of the poeple out at venice actually died, i almost went out there yesterday. stayed and watched that new purge movie instead. it was a good choice lol

Believe it or not I have had two encounters with lightning. First I was fishing a river in a spring storm. No lightning just big black clouds. I kept hearing something strange but couldn't figure out what it was. Once the clouds moved overhead and darkened things up I saw a spark from my graphite fly rod jumping over my cork handle into my thumb. Didn't feel anything but started to feel the hair on the back of my neck tingle. I threw the rod on the opposite shore and ran for the car. In about a minute there was lightning all around. I was lucky that day. Next time I was on the golf course playing in a tournament. We were winning the dam thing when a storm moved in. On the 17th tea one of the guys was freaking out about the lightning in the area. We laughed and called him a pussy. Wrong thing to do. While standing on the green I got zapped by a strike nearby. Must have been standing in the wrong place as nobody else got hit. It felt like touching an electric fence to keep cattle in. Wasn't hurt but knocked me to my knees. I was dazed for only a second....made a beeline for the clubhouse. Today when lighting is in the area I RUN.

I love thunderstorms! But ive have never been very close to a lightning strike.
I know they are loud even from a half mile away..

Caddy

I had a similar experience with a fishing rod pute,i was in my boat trolling with my son at silver lake in the sierras and lightning started striking the water around us,when i picked up my rod to reel in and beat it to shore static electricity got me good, just like a cattle fence, lol.I have been offshore quite a bit lately with thunderstorms but out there you can kinda see the dark clouds/bad weather and steer clear of it,still freaks me out considering i have rods out everywhere AND a freaking 8' vhf antenna sticking straight up on top of an aluminum t-top,lightning rods everywhere!
Dave the sierras or i guess any high country anywhere seem to be prime for lightning strikes, where mine happened at silver lake was directly across the ridge from yosemite.

have you guys seen the video of the guy getting hit twice in a row?
