I want to try to find some of the weed that stinks out the neighborhood, I haven't found anything to be as stank as some of the growers had 20 years ago.

The blue cheese is 🔥 I'm interested in seeing that Steve Murphy grow, sounds like some old school dank!
They will be my first photos and regular seeds. Its supposed to the original genetics from the 80s. Frozen for 40 years and recently found.

Im searching for the old school genetics. Cause Im the same way.

I have high hopes for you. That would be cool if its one of those straight stank strains from back then. And right?! Someone forget a deep freezer running in a shed? And it just now was discovered.

This is a historic inbred line (IBL) from the roots of modern cannabis breeding—Purest Indica, also known as the Steve Murphy Afghan. These seeds were reproduced from a 1983-era seed stock that originated with Seattle Greg, who received them in 1979 from author Murphy Stevens. This variety served as the foundational parent for what would become the Northern Lights family—specifically, the early NL #1 through NL #5 lines.

Origin and Provenance

The Purest Indica was never sent to Holland or distributed widely. According to Seattle Greg, he intentionally withheld these seeds from Nevil Schoenmakers and The Seed Bank to maintain control over the breeding direction of the Northern Lights project. What you’re getting is a direct descendant of those original Afghan broadleaf genetics—not a reconstruction, but a genuine continuation.

In 2020, Seattle Greg provided me with the original seed stock—stored in a Seattle freezer since the early 1980s and recovered by his family in 2019. I successfully germinated and reproduced them in my greenhouse.

The Line: Purest Indica (Steve Murphy Afghan)

This line represents a pure Afghan expression—compact, broadleaf dominant, and visually similar to classic hash plant structures. Plants grow with dense branching, long, draping leaflets, and a distinct Christmas-tree shape. Buds are large, sticky, and leafy, with a strong preference for low humidity. Aromas lean toward burnt rubber, skunk, and acrid earth, making it a standout in any garden.

Yesterday morning she wasn't showing any noticeable growth and Im pretty sure she stalled from the stress

After a day of r&r and some oxygen she's back at it. Good amount of that light green from new growth and everything looking for light.

Did about an hour of maintenance in the grow room this morning. Some watering, top dress, and pruning. The more I read about pruning the more of it I do.

Both girls in the tent got a hair cut and top dressed. They only got 2 TBS power bloom, 1/2 TBS of all purpose, and worm castings.

The closet cheesecake got trimmed up too and the sour got some tucking and readjusted the top pin.

Everything got 4 cups water in the trays and varying amounts on the top soil.

So you bottom water?

So you bottom water?
It's more for the soil health than the plants drinking. Sure the plants get some water from the bottom but it also keeps your soil and microbes happy.

Ah. Makes sense. When you empty the pot, after harvest, do you find any dry spots?

Not that I remember. I think I solve the dry spots by completing soaking to run off before my seeds go in the soil. After that first soak I try to keep the moisture balance with the top and bottom watering. I don't like watering to run off because I'm using slow release dry amendments. Watering to runoff is essentially washing away those nutes.

Not much of an update. I was home on lunch and stuck my head in to check on the girls. I got stuck staring at this GMO. She might not be very tall but I think she's kinda impressive.

They have entered the building! I'm excited for these dutch passion autos. And the glueberry photos. The glueberry is the one I know I'll like so growing some big photos will be fun.

I also dropped 2 of those blue cheese in a cup of water yesterday. In a few days I should have my first seedlings growing in hydro.

Oh. I also have an update on the tent. Kinda an update. I still havent heard from usps about a solution but I received an email from spider farmer yesterday. It was the typical your order has shipped. Then today I got a survey from usps about the customer service. My theory is the 2 have talked and spider farmer is sending my replacement for what was lost. Funny part is they sent it fed ex this time. Through the tracking I can see that it weighs 31 lbs so it has to be the tent at least. Controller is still unaccounted for we'll see if its in there too. Should be here tomorrow.
