looking forward to seeing how this mix works for ya. i've got a third of a pallet of the 80/20 left over, good shit!!! i want to mix it with A1's super soil and give it a go.
I have a cut that I am hoping roots soon and I'll be transplanting this into the amended chow as soon as it does! I'm thinking it's gonna be pretty awesome. I don't think amending the chow with another full soil product would be as effective as just taking the compost or ewc and the "super" and amending that into it. A1 sells what they put into their soil as the top dress product. If you haven't bought A1's super soil yet I think it would be better to just use their top dress along with some compost to mix into your gold label 80/20

Looking good. It's a robust plant, she'll recover from the trauma.
Definitely! She is recovering nicely. There is a lot missing though from losing the whole top with both top branches . I'm wondering if I should cut the top of the main stem off because it just leads to nowhere.. I'll post a pic later it looks funny but kinda sad as well.

Here we go. See what I mean? Only reason why I haven't just cut it off is because there are two of the biggest fan leaves on the plant connected to that stump. Plus I don't think it's a good idea to have so much exposed flesh on a plant.

Good idea what can it hurt

yea i'm basically amending a full soil with some 80/20 though for drainage and some fluff. psyched your taking the plunge.

Yesterday I mixed 1 bag of Gold Label's Special Mix with
1.5-2 gallons nutrient pack from simplici-tea (added 1.25 cups Alfalfa meal to this)
4-5 gallons Agrowin EWC
1/2 cups Nute Pack and Root Pack from Cap
and.. I feel like I'm forgetting something but I'm sure that's it.

Everything was pretty moist because I had flushed the Gold Label bag a day or two before and the EWC's from Agrowin seem to be pretty moist out of the bag. When I stuck my hand in the 20 gallon smart pot today it was very HOT! I tossed it around some and some steam came out from the bottom! I s

yesterday I started brewing a 4 gallon tea yesterday with
1 heaping cup of EWC's
3 tbsp Cap's Root Pack
1/2 cup Microbe Catalyst from Simplici-tea (comprised of, alfafa meal, feather meal, potassium sulfate, steamed bone meal, fish bone meal, natural calcite, humic acids, and kelp)
1tbsp alfalfa meal

Diluted this to 8 gallons and watered the pot. Hopefully it cools down soon I have a White S1 that is badly in need of a transplant and that's what will be living in this new pot. I may still put a clone of the Wifi I have in there.. not 100% yet. Wish I had popped a C99 seed my dad was going to give me but it's too late now. Either the wifi clone or White is going in asap. I have a few days before I feel comfortable about putting anything in that pot it practically burned my hand.

Some pics! Just opened up my wifi today before the picture and there's the White S1 and the pot it's gonna live in.

Damn.. Just read that the heat caused by composting will kill myco spores. That pot was pretty damn hot hope that half cup of nute pack isn't dead already. I'll have to make sure and add some more when watering and of course during the transplant I suppose.

Not sure how I'm liking this new mix so far... Nothing's growing in it yet but it seems kind of muddy? Just doesn't seem like it drains all that well. It's over 50% hydroton but seems like it needs more aeration. Maybe next time I'd add some rice hulls or perlite or just more hydroton to the compost/ewc before mixing. Or maybe I just added too much EWC. Oh well we'll see how that plant grows in it.

So I think I put that White S1 plant in my new pot too early and burned it. Wasn't doing good after a few days so I took it back out, and it's not happy right now... should have waited at least a week to transplant I only waited like two days. Oh well I will be putting something in shortly.

Couple pics just taken earlier today.

Also since I took the plant out I went ahead and put a few pounds of rice hulls because that mix seemed pretty muddy and I didn't want to spend the money on more hydroton. It drains much better now.

Too much EWC will give your soil a muddy appearance and also reduces the soils draining ability. Last year I top dressed with EWC and it was a big mistake. It created a layer on the surface of my soil that was like clay. It took water a long time to soak into that soil as a result.

I would increase the amount of coco in your mix to give it better drainage as well as providing ample oxygen availability to the roots. This year I went very light on the EWC, and heavy on coco. Started with a base of Roots Organics and added some fish bone meal, alfalfa, kelp, green sand, FF bat guano, very little EWC, 20% coco, and some extra perlite. Plants are really seeming to like it so far.

Yea it kinda seemed obvious when I thought about it the other day I had more EWC than coco in the mix because I was figured I'd go 25% not even thinking that I only had 20% coco to begin with. Anyways I mixed in 5 gallons of rice hulls since I took the plant out and it is much better as far as drainage. But if I were to try this again I'd use less ewc/compost.

Meanwhile the other pot with the still lonely wifi is doing great. Blumats are really starting to drip now!

Yes, the heat during composting will kill of most life except for thermophilic microbes. Later on, those same thermophilic microbes will die off as the compost cools and other beneficial microbes will flourish. However, before that happens, many of the spores present in the compost will be killed off, presumably including spores of mycorrhizas (which wouldn't usually be present). If I remember rightly, it's at around 140F-160F that death of non-thermophilic microbes occurs. If you have a soil thermometer, you could test how how the soil is in your pots.

First off what is it a boy or a gurl? Take a couple clones in case it's a dank monster! Do bloom cycle on em to see if its worth the time and nutes. If male collect the pollen. And start another od plant!!
