What do u suggest to use as a root drench to kill them? @SeaF0ur

I've not used chemicals often at all as I like either a mechanical means of killing, a parasite, or a predator... generally a combination of those... sounds like @Tnelz has used a different method with success, so I'd try what he mentioned.

I stay in favor of keeping my soil life intact... soil drenches are not in my wheelhouse.

Got a ??? for you @MGRox I have a cut/cross of the Afghani Bullrider x Starfighter. With the SF in the mix what do you think as far as yield on this particular cross. ? Will be run in a hydro setup DTW
Is this a loaded question, haha? If you have a cut, does the person with the main plant know yield? I suppose too, without knowing what pheno of the starfighter that was chosen for cross (LAD or Tahoe leaning); as well as the bullrider (original more sativa vs afghani leaning), could make it pretty wide ranging. If the afghan bullrider was more affie leaning and the starfighter was more tahoe leaning; I would think that to have a good chance for a keeper. My bullrider doesn't tend contribute a large portion to flavor, so if it's similar with your cut; may be mostly flavors from the starfighter.

My bullrider would be a medium yielder (350-450 g.p.s.m) I suppose. It has a shorter node spacing, branchy and puts energy more across the whole plant rather than developing large colas. With this structure a chunky, apical dominant and high node space indica heavy can benefit from this cross; in terms of yield and form. A hybrid with large node spacing, branching and a 60/40 or 70/30 (indy favor) could possibly combine with poor bud form and likely marginal change to yield; if not lower than hybrid. This would just be how mine has behaved so far on the bull end, but not tested many with it yet.

hope that helped anyway :). I would love to see pics if you run it out!!

If you look at the first pic, the ra has two protruding "tail pipes" in the rear, compared to the fg's.It may easier to see this difference with a lesser powered lens. @Pimp T

@Power OG got a word back, no Superskunk. Got a recent pack of shiva skunk though

Can you see them.on roots with the naked eye? @SeaF0ur im pretty much sold on it being aphids now shits on new plants in small pots thats been in there for only about 7 days.

Here is another great article on the aphid invasion that has taken the nation by storm. Some good info.....

That's the damn aphid link I was looking for in another thread!!!

I wasn't kidding about Fox Farm Soil (God I hope they aren't a sponsor here) I do not know a single grower who will use it anymore, because, directly in the bag, they have found spider mites, or aphids, or both. The hydro store near me is thinking of discontinuing their soil because they can't comfortably sell it to anyone. Even if the person doesn't know, the owner just can't bring himself not to tell them. That's a guy who cares about his customers lol.

So someone already filled you in. Let me go snap a couple pics for you of real aphids. My cherry tree came complete with them, flyers & crawlers stuck in the trap.

The picture above is very good of a flyer. However, when put to actual scale, & you are dealing with it, it's hard to tell if it's a mosquito, a gnat, a flying aphid etc. So a lot of times, people have noticed the initial signs, but they thought it was something else. From what I have seen...If you have a flyer, you have probably had crawlers for a while & just realized those "baby mosquito's" you were killing...weren't mosquitos.

The crawler is also a good picture because it clears up what people mean by tailpipes. It's just two little protrusions on the back & for different color aphids, they can be hard to see. If it's a white RA, most of the time, you can't see them. But bulb mites for instance, can look similar to young aphids, but they have actual tail looking things (as long as their legs) It's one way to tell an aphid from a bulb mite. Tail "pipe" vs actual tails.

You can see in the first pic, in the two lower left boxes what two flyers look like (when they have died drowning in sticky sap)

The rest of them are various things, but you can pick out the crawlers. Above ground they tend to be dark. Below ground, I usually see white or yellow.

So the life cycle of an aphid (very generally, there are many different kinds) is that they are born crawlers. Males will always stay crawlers (I think) When they have exhausted a food source, a or some females will grow wings, to transport to another food source. They reproduce more crawlers, usually above ground now. & they will stay crawlers unless they run out of food or there is a danger of that. Then a/some females sprout wings & it starts all over again.

So, if you have a flyer, it has either left it's colony & trying to establish a new one on your stuff. Or, you had them on your stuff, underground, & it's gotten out of hand. So a lady has become a flyer looking for more food & a place to procreate. Aphids aren't the end of the world, but they aren't good. If you are seeing flyers...it's usually in the "not good" category (vs. "It's not the end of the world")

Yes, you can see them on roots with the naked eye, but they are pretty small.

Since your intentions are to breed I have a question.

Why did you let the plants get so tall & thin? As opposed to topping to make a bushier plant? Is there a breeding purpose behind that?

Or was it just a busy time & some plants were just left to "be." (We've all done it, I'm just curious if it was intentional for breeding somehow?)

Thanks for taking the time I appreciate you. I will have to do some checking to see get some more information on the cut I am holding. Suffice to say it was born out of Tfudge and Ex's camp. I will definitely keep a journal when I get a run going.
Well thats it for now. Hope your well man.

I have to agree with you. I have found over the last year or so every bag my buddy has bought there is some sort of infestation in all of their bagged soil. Typically both species. No one I know will use it anymore until something changes.

For the record nine times out of ten I use fox farms happy frog. If u got a bad bag it's ur hydro store not fox farms. Just my two cents. I've never had an issue in over ten years.
Good statement there. Seems any brand of soil can be contaminated due to where the soil is stored. A lot of nurseries keep the soil outside and that is bound to be trouble as there are small vent holes in the bags that allow pests to burrow inside the soil. My local hydro store keeps all of their bags inside the store.

1 & 2 look like fungus gnats, 3 looks more like an aphid.

another visual difference lies in how they hold their wings.

A fungus gnat lays both wings flat on top of its back when it lands.

A flyer aphid will hold its wings at sharp angles like a wasp.

looking for crawlers, you may notice they have a somewhat cricket like body shape.
