No it shouldn't have any affect, the satellite that goes on your house is the receiver and can't really see it picking up anything from your ballast, their beginning to make this thing for fiber where they put a box on the outside of your house and give you a box to set up in your house and they do all the connection on the outside and more or less provide you with service thru wifi. Cuts out the whole going inside people's houses, and if someone doesn't pay their bill and you want your equipment back you don't have to hunt them down. Could possibly look into that provided there's a telephone line with fiber near you.
