Well santa came early this year and brought me a hanna 98127 meter..stooked needless to say! the ph of the distilled water im using is 6.4..will that change when i add nutes to it?

Too bad he didn't bring you a Hanna 98129 combo, but at least you can be on top of your pH... And to answer your question, any time you add diff nutes and supplements, your pH will change. It will also change depending on how strong the mix is... So you will need less base to raise the pH of a 500 PPM mix, than a mix at 1200 PPM... :thinking

the box the meter came in says it does ph/ec/tds but i cant figure out how to check the ec/tds lol (first meter ive ever owned) ..can i add ph down to my mix after the nutes have been mixed in? also the ph down says to add 1 teaspoon per gallon to lower the ph 1 full increment.. so for example would that mean it would go from 6.4 to 6.3 or 6.4 to 5.4? I know all these questions are pretty noobish but if i didnt ask id never know lol. :)

You need Hanna calibration solutions to properly calibrate your meter. Google your model number and you will easily find the PDF manual if the instructions didn't come with the box. The model you have is supposed to only check pH and water temp. Are you sure it's the correct model number? My Hanna 98128 is a black combo meter. As for your pH question, you should always add acid or base after you've mixed all your other nutrients. BTW, acid is much stronger than base... I've never needed to add that much acid, but base is different... You will have to experiment to see how much you need of either...

I just got a bottle of ProteKt and was told to use no more than 50 PPM, after that use base to raise pH... Any thoughts? :wondering

My meter is the 98127 and its red..so it must only check the ph and temperature, idk why the box says ph/ec/tds..and yes i calibrated it with the solutions and im using europonics ph down from hydrodynamics..thanks for all the info guys its really appreciated!!

On a side note i also got my self a nice sativa dom bubbleberry clone yesterday that im gonna turn into a mom..ill post some pics of her tomorrow!

That ph down is some serious shit lol i followed the instructions of 1 tsp per gallon and it went from 7.5 to 3.3!! So ive got alot of experimenting to do thats for sure!

Use a eye dropper and count drops per gall.
A little goes a long way, in a minute you will get the hang of it!

Well i figure its time for an update..the first 3 pics are my 4 underdawg#1's still in veg..ill probably transplant them into 1.5 gal pots here in the next couple days..pics 4 through 7 are my Nl#5. still dont know whats goin on with her, she hasnt been gettin any thing except ph'd water.:worried

I forgot to mention that the nl5 is on day 34 of flower...and here is my dj short lady at day 56..i gave her just plain water at day 52 with intentions of starting the flush but shes still throwing new pistils and there aren't many red ones, shes also showing some fox tails..idk if i should keep giving her nutes and take her to maybe 70 days instead of 60..any suggestions?

Well she was over nuted and started to burn so i have been giving her just water under the assumption that there was still food in the soil but your probably right..thanks for stoppin by man! :)
