Still workin on the things that need to be done to get this house that needs buying bought. Why does the process need to be so complicated with so many hands getting in the cookie jar?

Well..? I think I locked one of the chickenbirds out of the coop last night, Dave found her outside the coop this morning. She won't let me catch her, and I won't just leave the coop open for her to get in and the others out, so...? We have a bit of a Mexican stand-off goin'. Also, her sister (the bird in question is Eleanor), Guinevere, is brooding an egg. An unfertilized egg. I keep saying, "Guini! It won't HATCH!" And she growls at me, literally (I never knew a chicken could growl, well, they can)(they also sneeze and it sounds HILARIOUS, but also disconcerting), and is pecking me pretty hard when I try to get said egg.

That means that Guinevere needs cock! And I'm the gal to help her out. We've located three real cocks, but don't have a quarantine area. I'm thinkin' a small shed in one of our fenced gardens should be ok, though I prefer the upper garden and it may not offer enough distance. Otherwise, he's gettin' tossed in with all the ladies. He's a German-raised cock, so he'll probably try to do some astonishingly weird things with the chickenbirds.

Indeed, I'm sure I will, it's kind of an exciting prospect to think I could get a photo like that. :D Adorable!

But now she's changed her mind and it's Olivia who's become the broody hen. I'll have questions, I've got a couple of Ameracauna cockerels lined up to choose from. Friendly birds, from what the owner says, but only about 6mos old, so a wee bit younger than the ladies. I'm sure whoever is selected will still be very happy to cover the hen. The last issue will be where she raises the chicks--all nest boxes that they like to use are a ways up off the ground.

Got some good creakin and stiffness goin this AM after wrestling with a 16 ft long - 12" diameter log and a 12 foot log gate yesterday. It was on the brink of being too heavy for the MS. and I to lift.....so we played "Egyptian" and used a series of fulcrums/levers and brains over sheer brute force alone and after a few key moves we were able to get the entire shebang in the back of my truck. 8 ft of log in the bed...8 ft sticking out the back with a 12' gate sitting on top. Thankfully I have massive strapping in my truck...and the 10 - 80/lb bags of concrete holding in all down upfront helped keep the shit from bouncing out on the 65 mile drive.... yeah, baby....

Dug a few hours last night on the biggest hole. Now I just gotta dig another foot deeper (at 3.5 ft now) and smoke a few (OK, so it's the other way around..you know the drill) and start mixin up bags of 'crete. Ya Mon. Some kinda fun.....but it was outrageous what I was quoted to dig the hole/set the (3) posts/concrete em in....so off we go on a new adventure >yet again<. Nobody seems to dig BY HAND anymore....and everyone I talked to was gonna haul a big backhoe or some shit out here to do it. can you say "CHA CHING"? Fuck that.

Gonna be >another< CO BLUE SKY day with perfect temps for working outside and getting shit done....

So, this isn't going to be happening until after Christmas, but I got a hair across my ass and decided that I want to take our granddaughter to see the ballet. And not just any ballet, The Nutcracker Suite. And not just any Nutcracker Suite, the San Francisco Ballet's production of The Nutcracker Suite. Which, I recently learned, is the same location of the very first U.S. production of The Nutcracker Suite.

I can't tell you guys how excited I am! I've already gotten her a dress (it's an evening show, we're gonna be like all hella FANCY an' shit!), and we've planned a whole day around it. My mother took me when I was a little girl, I don't remember where we were living at the time but I do remember the ballet, very distinctly. She also took me to see the Lipizzaner stallions when I was small, and I distinctly remember that, but I don't think they're doing any U.S. tours anymore. Plus, the granddaughter really prefers COWS. Like, all day long, she digs cows over horses. I give her a ration of shit for it, though. :D

We're goin' to the ballet! BALLET!! This is gonna be better than a go-go dancer with a fat feather boa, I can feel it.

Na, that was 2 escrows ago.

This one may not have as much land around it, but it is being lived in by a family so everything works. Even the jacuzzi. All the problems revolve around paper and communication, or lack of it.

I got tired of houses that had been flipped real fast. I feel sorry for people who get sucked into buying one.

Thats a good question Sea. How high off the ground?
You may have to help the chick down after its hatched and dryed
the other chickens might hurt the babies so i think you might wanna keep em seperated

No Doubt Chicken Man can tell you better than I. though

Uh... no, no chickens in the house again. They'll rough it, just like they do in Puerto Rico. What lives, lives, and what doesn't, doesn't. I love my birds, but not enough to try living with them again. ;)

Got a sister coming out to visit for a few days. I'm not cleaning.

We had a lady take a rooster once. We actually delivered it to her. We brought it into her house she put it on her lap and said he will do fine...
She said she will make him a house pet. Vince, he was big and hansome....

Goo, you seem like the kind of guy that hires the trimming done. Only thing I DON'T like about growing is the tedious task of trimming, especially if there are multiple plants to trim. My trimming starts out good and goes to hell in a short time. When I get to the end you could do a better job with a spoon.

I know this was posted a while ago but shit this is funny...mine asks, but I tell her I don't have much left. While there are a couple fatty colas swaying in the wind.

The gate posts are in. Wow..what a feat. Those logs are sum hebbby shee-at! And we all know what fun mixing concrete can be! We had to hoist the log onto the bed of the truck to get some angle on it and the wife backed up/pushed the truck up against the log while I held on and stood the log up.....and plop...into the hole she went...

Dug the hole for the receiver side.....and promptly hit the phone line about 18" down. Ooops. As a result, I was offline from Saturday AM on. OOOps:rolleyes: Either way.....woulda cost us a few thouie to have this work done....so if they knack me for a new phone line...no biggie.

It's always somethin'.... LOL
