You stated your source water was 7.7. I assume that is adjusted before watering to somewhere around 6.3/6.5 correct? If not I would say you are missing some major nutrient uptake at that Ph range.

I have never checked my ph after adding the regular dose of nutrients. That being said... I have never had anything like this happen. I used the same water all last year, and in my light dep greenhouse earlier this year. No problems. And Yes when I flushed I corrected ph and it was at 6.4 when I watered. Since the first flush did not make things better. I decided to use micro nutes and see if it was a lockout. And nothing has gotten better. It's been 2 weeks. Could they be root bound?

Temps can get that low if the roots are protected, generally with bigger beds / pots.



PH isn't optimal for sure, but if the soil was nice and 'living' the water with that ph should still be okay.



If he was following the Clackamas Coots recipe off of Build a Soils website, the amendments don't need to be composted first, they won't burn your plants. This recipe doesn't really cook like a super soil, but letting it sit and giving compost teas would allow the soil to have more nutrients available to the plant sooner. Not sure if the OP followed the recipe since he mentions fish bone meal which is not in the build a soil mix, and doesn't mention compost.

I did not follow a specific recipe. Nor was I making or using teas. I guess I just found some page with dosage on it.

I have gypsum. Would dolomite lime work faster? And how should I administer. Mix with water and flush, or make a weird tea haha

I've poked air holes in the medium to aerate. As I was afraid of over watering

Can you test the ppms of what comes out the bottom?

Boron toxicity is not translocatable. You might still be sitting on a bunch though.

Throw a pound of or so of gypsum on there and wash it in. 30 grams of powdered milk might do wonders.

I would strongly suggest you send in a soil sample and get some real numbers so you can dial it in and figure out where you are. And how not to get there the next time. Spectrumanalytic ask for the k-2 test. Send it overnight and you have results the next day.

With that water pH, I am suspect of what is happening. Send in a water sample too. You won't spend much and you will learn a valuable lesson. Bulldog is a good example.

Try to figure out where all that boron came from. Looks like you been visiting the woowoo juice vegetable stand....

Oh no, you mentioned soil testing on THCfarmer......... That is dangerous woo woo stuff here.........People don't take very kindly to that kind of stuff in these parts.........

So you don't think sodium is part of that burn? All boron? I noticed he used a micro product, how heavy was that applied? Good eye on the B, I see that also now. What caught my eye was he said he was watering X amount, then cut it in half. Without soil and water tests, it's really just a guess on my part at least.


Also, not root bound. Cross that off your list.

This was the second time you used the micro's right? First time, problems started a week or so after the first application? Then got worse after the second? Sounds like slowN is right, Boron toxic.

I'll send the soil test today. You said K-2, did you mean S-2?? I can't find a test abbreviated with K-2.

We have only been flushing, so I can't give you the after-nute ph yet. But, while flushing, we ph'd the water to 6.5 the run off water is testing at a ph of 5.1 and 5.5 so far.

Yup, just send in noting the K-2 package. If you really want, you can say the Kraidy K-2 package. Call them and ask them if your worried, however that is what I have been doing. I ran about 10 tests through them now, and at least that much with Logan labs. Both are really easy to work with.

I'm with the guy that suggested Aphids. I had 2 die and 2 more badly damaged this year. did not touch 7 others. @ just drooped and died. They came in from my tomato's that were just on the other side of my fence from the pot.
But as for nutrients, I have found a 2 part nutrient that delivers everything a pot plant needs. KISS is my motto. Keep it simple stupid. lol no cal mag no ph up or down nothing but it. the plants are never any color but green. My head was dizzy reading everything you put in. lol
