Even though the gavita EL2 is cool, it is still limiting in the grand scheme of things. You could easily make a unit that can control each light individually with the technology. I would love to see that in the future.

One thing to consider when buying these controllers:

The EL1 will not run a flip. It will only run up to 40 lights.
If you want to do a flip AND have control over other secondary equipment (fans, heaters, AC, etc) spend the extra few bucks and get the EL2

I like the EL2 but again they could make this thing a lot better.

@piehole

I think you could do this with the EL2. you would have to put the 1k's on the 1st port and 750's on the second port, and then set them to run at 80% and 110%, and put the controller in follow mode.

Thanks cap I did not even consider using the second port like that.
@Capulator is spot on! Run them on separate ports and you'll be just fine!

Just got introduced to Jair Gavita and will be hooking up with him in Oct in Colo.
LOL Jair is a pretty fun guy... The director for my companies commercial sales talks to him frequently, big stoner, nice guy.

That's what I was thinking. 3 feet away from the plants should be fine.i just hope it will increase my yield. Over hps.lights.i got a co2.berner I'm going to make costume trays.to sit on the ground.

At least 3 feet! These fixtures will fry your plants if you're not careful. As far as yield, I think you will see an increase however, these fixtures are meant for large plants because of their penetration ability, you may find the light penetrating all the way down to your trays if you don't fill the canopy properly.

1k is too much for 8' ceiling. Even with plants on the floor you will have a tough time on full blast. Gonna have to dim them most likely.
8' ceilings are fine. I have been running 1k Gavita's for over a year now in a very hot climate without A/C. I have never had a problem. Your good intention info is wrong and misinforming and just your opinion. I have real world experience with 8' ceilings for the past 23 years. I think my results speak for themselves. Go out and get you some Gavitas and keep things simple.

Good iv been wanting to run these. I'm going to run 32 plants in a 4×8 tray with 2 gavitas. Over them I was looking at the 4×6 trays for one has anybody done this.

It will work but not optimized. Run two of the 750's and you will be killing it with great overlapping light. Just my opinion.

How hot do they get Is a 36000 btu mini split going to be good for 4 1000.

I don't know man I have 8' ceilings and 1k epaps and the Philips bulb is hard on some strains full blast (even a 600), but yeah they are on tables so like I said on the floor maybe, but you still may end up dimming. I don't have much experience though so what do I know anyway. Not everyone has been growing for 23 years.

Curious how many lights you have going in your very hot climate with no AC.

Keep in mind these fixtures were designed for greenhouses as supplemental lighting, and when placed in greenhouses they are like 15-20' above canopy.
