Coco with no added perlite? Just curious for future reference

Ya man just 100% coco. That's what I roll with too. It holds a good amount of water AND air. Perfect by itself in my opinion.

These are some old moms I used to have in straight coco.

Here's how the roots do in pure coco. If you really do well they would all be pure white, but I must have let that one dry out too much. Can't remember it was a while ago.

Gotta stop spraying before I take pics but here are the 3 clones out of 6 that are doing good. The 2 strawberry are side cuts which seem to clone way better than tops for me. The rks is the exception. Its looking super happy

The foam means it's alive :)

Like a spontaneously fermentated Belgian beer. Your microbes just joined the party lmao.
Not necessarily true pedwon concerning the foam. I have seen dead tea batches that have gone anaerobic with foam. Foam is a by product of a process called protein skimming or more commonly called a "foam fractionator". When we bubble our brews the bubbles capture and hold the organics in the mix see link for a full explanation.
I would be sure to mix your foam back into the mix before use as I have heard farmers ask if the foam should be thrown away and the answer is NO. As the foam has all the goodies in it. :)

See link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_skimmer

Jumpincactus knows some stuff! It's hard to tell the true composition of a tea's microbiology without tests, but I'd say the best way to tell if it's aerobic or anaerobic at home is the SMELL. If it has a sweeter earthy smell you are good to go. If it smells like poopy rotten eggs then It's better to pour it in the compost pile or something of that nature.

Thanks fellas, you're confirming the information I was going by. I mixed it up real good before I fed today. I always smell the mix before I feed if I bubble. Nftg adds mint oil to their nutes so I get earthy and minty smells. The mix actually foamed over a few times and made a mess over the 2 dway. . I wonder if I close the lid all the way if that will help. I usually leave the lid half un snapped to allow air to escape. I have a hole drilled in the bucket lid that is the same size as the air line and I'm not sure if it would cause a problem to snap the lid all the way

thanks man, but really dont know that much. Only reason I knew this was from my live reef salt water tank dayz. Aquarist's that keep reefs have to use protein skimmers to get all of the dissolved organics out of the water cause when you keep stony and soft corals they demand ultrapure water quality. To put it in perspective when you walk along the beach and you see all that beach foam, it is almost the same thing as when we bubble brews. The DO (dissolved organics) cling to the surface of the bubbles. Now here is the kicker, you would think larger bubbles hold more stuff but actually when I use protein skimmers for salt water tanks the smaller bubbles actually hold more DO. Reason being is smaller bubbles have more dwell time in the water column and capture more DO. Now back to cannabis.:D

I did notice @rmoltis didn't give me a like either cause I pissed him off or cause I called him Pedwon. LOL
Hey rmoltis wheres my dang like homey!!!! Love you man.

@justiceman you are correct BTW as farmers unless we have a microscope we can only go by smell.

If you you guys havent ever been to Tim's site he is one of in my opinion one of the real deal pioneers in compost or ACT's or AACT's check him out he really knows his stuff. The truth of the matter is according to Tim is when we use Petco type aquarium pumps we arent delivering enough DO (dissolved oxygen) to our brews. He actually tells you what the minimum air requirements are as he has done testing and uses his microscope to see the critters bloom. Heres the link to his site. http://www.microbeorganics.com/

I haven't stepped my game up to having a compost pile just yet but I'm headed in that direction though

Also I remember you telling someone about a Sherwin Williams paint with like 97% reflectivity but I cant remember where. Any chance you still have that paint code @jumpincactus ?
Damn dude, I would have to search for the thread or go to SW website. Hold tight I will get back to you bro.

Ahh here it is. The LRV is 93, I was off a few points. Be sure to call ahead as this isnt something they have a high demand for so you dont waste your time. Either way they will get it ordered and get it to your closest store. Be sure to get it in "Flat" not eggshell or semi gloss heres their code.

Yo @jumpincactus . My jug of nutrients is so alive that it has transcended the foaming.

Whether I brew it for a day or a week.
It stays nice and non foamy.

I think the 1" layer of living colonies of fungus/microbes at the bottom & the stuff lining the walls eats the good stuff. Then once used in the soil the plants go crazy.

I honestly think it's these lifeforms that eat through the soil over the plants life. Releasing nutrients to the plant but also depleting the soil of nutrients over time.

I think I need to start considering top dressings. When is a good time to top dress and what is good top dress @jumpincactus ?

Good shit, thanks bro. I'm gonna have my bro in law order it up for me. He used to be a painter so he gets a deal. I'm gonna use that on the inside of the grow cabinet I'm making. 93 is still pretty damn good for paint.

Im trying your method of leaving some nutes in the bucket and starting a new batch on top of it. I'm letting my water sit out and I'll ad to it tomorrow

Did you add some mychorizae I forget?

You don't need much leftover nutes just a little. For me out of 1 gal I use 112oz to feed. Then the 16oz leftover goes into a gallon jug where I measure a full gallon of water. Then I add it back to the jug to continue.

Remember once you have your fungus or microbes molasses should keep them alive.

For example a nutrient bubbling I add molasses. They feed off nutes and sugars.

If I am gonna water them next feed I just add water to the 16oz leftovers. then I add some molasses. This keeps them going until they reach the soil.

Repeat.
