Ok. That's sick. How do you set up the feed tube to also be the drain valve? Will it just automatically drain when the water pump isn't turned on? That's a sick system.

Yes drains back thru the fill tube and pump...

no you can use coco or straight perlite or hydroton
any hydroponic medium
depending on how much water the medium holds will tell you how many times a day you have to flood the system

yes he def has a Ca def
yours looks like Mg/S and possibly Iron
I would spray with 2Tbs epsom salt in a 32oz spray bottle

make sure the ph is correct of your nutrient solution
