haa....old man got some skill tho bro.ive seen skilld growers outgrow a 250hps with some fuckin cfls....lol.experience is the key n almost every case
Im new to indoor all together but I really think my cheap ass setup is doing very well. Only 9 days into flower n no room at all. They just starting to stretch. I noticed a hieght difference without measuring in the last 24 hrs.

I plan to try the bucket system soon. I want this one to finish first. I just had to move 2 plants to a new room today cause the others took over my 4x4. They were litterally pushing up against all 4 walls and shading each other badly. I think my new room is short on light though. I know lumens means nothing but my meter reads half the lumens as my 4x4.
if u go dwc n a 4×4 watch veg time/plant count.i cud easily fill that 1 plant w/3wk veg.

1 plant fill 4x4 in 3 weeks. Yeah I def got to try it. I want to anyways just to learn it all. I should have chopped a branch or 2 off my current plants cause I want to try cloning too. Seeds hard to get here.

My 4x4 has RDWC six bucket system and was completely filled at 4.5 weeks. now I have the plants in another RDWC six bucket systm in my bloom tent and the six plants have completely filled it as well. so yeah, the plants can grow big and fast if you let them, lol

jump ship u will do well
well, the downside of jumping from dirt to water is you need to be on top of everything. Shit can go wrong real fast in water... For me, it's a twice-a-day chore to check water numbers or at least check pH. I've had pH drop from 6.0 when I went to bed to 4.5 the next day... This usually doesn't happen a lot.

once u kno yur numbers u dnt hav to check everyday.creep up to numbers, dont assume n u will b good.shit i check my ph once every 3days.the worst thing u can do is assume more nutes=bigger plants...i do agree things can go wrong quickly but best thing bout dwc,if u do hav an issue, empty tote, wash n re-fill.no bullshit flushing....

Yep go light on the nutes and set the ph at 5.8
You will get a feel after a while how much drift usually will occur. I would set My buckets at 5.8 and kbow that usually within 2-3 days it would be up to 6.1.-6.3 depending on how much they are feeding.

I checked the 2.0 version and no backing there. I'm checking the original. Still don't see actual timeframes listed or a side by side of any production. I'll keep reading. I do however like some of what I see but nothing is at all proving me wrong there.

I would not waste my time comparing cheap chinese , my threads are about using quality led panels

Man this thread blew up. Must be the click bait title.

ouch....lol. A tex,i got a question for u.i was thinking cob soon cause im moving.n i rock 8k n flower rm,2600 n veg.i was told roughly $1300 to build a cob comparible to 1×1000hps(this is with all good components).this sound accurate?

If you go DIY you can most certainly build a cob setup for 1300 or less. If you are wanting to cover a 4x4 you could buy something like this already put together.
Or you could buy all the components and put them together for around a 1000. Hell, I bet this light would do you pretty well.
http://timbergrowlights.com/900-watt-vero29-v7-5x5-framework/ You could buy all the components and put it together yourself for a lot less.

Im n a unique situation right now n all i pay is $45/month on electric....lmfao.lol.but ive had almost same setup where i had to truly buy electric n 1×1000w was $17/month...can u speak on how much u pay a month just on a cob? @CallmeTex

It's hard to figure the exact metric, but I can tell you when I was running DE hps in the same room the bill was about 75-100$ more than it is now. My bill has gone way down this summer of all things when its hot as fuck, stays nice and cool in the room and my A/C doesn't come on near as much. Not to mention the increase in yield.

so to replace 8×1000hps were talking 8racks...hmm.im gonna build one myself,it will hav to prove itself n my garden first.$8k isnt the issue but im not a window licker so i wanna c a side by side cob/hid.ive been using hid for 15yrs.

I dont run DWC anymore I hate checking ph daily..
I run Coco at 6.0 in veg and 6.2 in flower.
5.8 is recommended because it gives you a larger buffer if ph gets away from You.
Agreed 6.2 in flower rocks!

Build one and see how you like it. That's what I did. I'm pulling 1.1-1.5 grams/watt with the cobs in organic soil. Way better than .7-.9 G/W with the Gavita 750 de. Just saying...

Not to be an ass but that's what this thread seems to be about is the actual comparison. The lack of proof to validate the extra money involved for " better panels ". I , on my first grow, with cheap panels am going to do what the expensive panels do. There's always the possibility of failure but I'm pretty confident now that I got the health back which wasn't light related. They love their cheap sunlight. And they tell me that daily now. And like I said for the price I can replace my entire room ( lights fans shelving and even the walls ) 3 times for the same cost as a "real" led light.

I went through a full cycle with a "600 Watt" LED panel which had a claimed bloom coverage of 24" x 60" and had a wall power usage of 350W. well I grew 4 plants and ended up with 8 ounces of dried bud. I told myself "Not bad for a first grow" and was pretty satisfied, and the bud is really good.
So, by my calcs, your first grow generated .64g per watt. That's not a bad start, and is comparable to stats I see for HID (for beginners). I'd be curious to see what your g/watt will be for the COB's. However, your yields are probably going to go up just because you've got some miles under the belt now, so it won't be apples to apples.

I know what I'm doing. I should be able to get at least that yield, and maybe .75g/watt. I'll have a combined 375w wall draw, so I should be able to get in the range of 8-10 oz. That will make me perfectly happy. I have friends I can give the larfy crap to. :)

Can't wait for my seeds to arrive.
