Now that I think of it, it would be tough to figure out with the dimmer. I'd have to hook up my meter and figure out how many ma it is actually pulling which is a hassle since I don't have the nice one that clamps around the cable. Kill a watt rules.

Forgot about dimming.

I would be interested to know if the dimming dial or screw is linear. Can i dial down half for 50% actual?
It works really smooth. When it gets down really low it eventually just shuts off. I'm interested to know if it uses less electicity at lower dimming. Supposedly it doesnt lower the voltage it just changes the frequency which causes the light to blink slower. It's still too fast for the human eye to see, but that is how it is described.

I didnt know that. Must be to protect the spectrum when dimming.

Exactly what they say. I definately notice no difference in color as I dim it of course that is not very scientifical lol. I would need a spectrometer to prove it I guess.

My galaxy cmh ballast had a dimmer and is supposed to keep a better spectrum while dimming. But i think i ruined the bulb switching it while on. There was no instructions on proper use. The bulb shows lines in the pics i take now and when it was new it was clear in the pics.

I have a new bulb too. But i havent tested to see if pics are clear or have the lines like a magnetic ballast.

Weird. Let me know if you figure it out. Mine has no dimmer. Its just a cheap Prism ballast and adjust a wing. The ballast is tough. I dropped it from 4 and a half feet and it still ticks. (on accident of course) I thought it was dead after the first power outage, but apparently it has a built in safety. After about 10 or 15 mins it came back. I got my money's worth out of it for sure.

I did a little upgrade on the box today. I added a couple small shelves so I can have two heaters in the box. I may need the extra heat when I switch to the quantum boards. I put them under the fans so the fan will grab the heat and blow it down on the plants. Right now I have one set to come on for the first 8 hrs of dark and the other is set for the whole dark period 15 min on and 10 off. I got these nice little timers that are fully programmable so if I need to I can alter the schedules easily. They're not very heavy duty though so I only use them for low amperage situations. Speaking of which I got my Kill-A-Watt in today and hooked it up to the quantum on the cloner. I found out I'm only using 10 watts for the clones. I used to use a single 40 watt high output flourescent. I get better light with the quantum at 10 watts because of the better spread. I don't want to turn it all the way up and fry my clones so after their done I'll find out how many watts at full power. The pump on the cloner is set at 5 minutes on and 15 off. I'm diggin the quantum board!! Chop this Friday after work. Some Pics:

Harvest daaaay!!!
The harvest is pretty good. Buds are big and heavy. The H3Ad beat the Jacks pretty bad, but I'd have to repeat the experiment with the plants reversed because that spot in my box always grows the smaller plants. The most important part of the experiment was for taste and we'll have to wait for that. Hyper Cherry Pie with Jacks wet untrimmed= 1.47Lbs. Dc9 with H3Ad formual = 1.57. HCP with H3AD = 1.63Lbs. I will have to do more experimenting to verify the H3Ad advantage. Smells are off the charts bomb! Some Pics:

Sup Farm, The plants from the last run are still hanging whole. Today is day 2 on the next run, this time dream catcher 9 is up front and two Hyper Cherry Pie's are in the back. I'm just running Jacks for now on all three plants. I haven't decided if I'll run the H3AD formula again although it looks like it worked well. Maybe I'll wait for the smoke report to decide. I put the new quantum board in the veg box so no more blurple pics. 😀 I tested the quantum at full power and it uses 69 watts of power. So If I put the other three (wating for the drivers to arrive) in the flower box that will only be 207 watts. I'm not sure if that will be enough so I'm going to order a light meter so I can have a better comparison. If they are not strong enough maybe I'll use some of them with the 315. We'll see how it goes. Hope everyone has a great week!

What's your succulent?
Not sure what kind it is, but it's from my wife's cousin's wedding a couple years back. It was about to die, it had shrunk down to almost nothing so I took it and gave it a little food and brought it back. It seems to like it in the box. I guess I should transplant it into something else. I'll have to do a little reading up on succulents and what kind of soil they like.

Edit: just did a little research and I think it is Aeonium. 🙂

Succulent are easier to grow than weeds. It's like the perfect woman for a "macho man". Sand and perlite or pretty much any soil as long as you don't show it affection. Water when it gets dry usually once a week soil only no nutes, fertilizer and part sun or full. They Also propagate easily. I didn't see the pic but, when I do more than likely I can tell you what it is. Living in a desert environment succulents and cactus are all over.

Thanks for the info Padre. It's in the bottom left of the picture with the three plants (last pic), I'm pretty sure it's a kind of Aeonium. I just ordered some succulent soil for it. I'll up pot it and see what it can do.

What desert do you live in? I'm just outside of Palm Springs.
